Cloud or iCloud is another convenient service developed by Apple. It allows you to store certain information in the amount specified by the device (system settings, accounts, necessary documents and photos). The amount of information required changes at the request of the user. If you select the "Backup" section and activate "Backup to iCloud", then the system will send data to the cloud once a day, provided there is free space. Data can be easily restored to a new device when needed.
Touch ID, password creation and diagnostics
Touch ID is a security feature on your phone using your fingerprint. Its connection allows:

What is an iPhone?
In this section, we will not talk about the history of the device or what operating system it runs on, we will talk about the phone itself and the controls on it. Initially, it is worth dealing with the keys. As a device with a multi-touch screen focused on touch control, the iPhone 5s (original) has very few hardware buttons. On the front panel there is a Home button (also a Touch ID fingerprint sensor). On the top there is a power / lock button (the first one you will use). On the left side there is a sound control, on the right is a tray for a SIM card.
First start-up
As soon as you launch a "fresh" gadget, you will be greeted with an offer to start customizing. In principle, the built-in assistant quite intuitively guides you through the setup process, but it is still worth making out a number of points.
- Language selection and Wi-Fi connection. The language will be offered automatically, based on the place of purchase of the device, but the user has the right to choose any other. A password may be required to connect to a Wi-Fi network. Alternatively, you can use the mobile network, if supported. To do this, you should initially insert the SIM card into a dedicated tray.
- The next step is to connect an Apple ID account, if you already have one, otherwise create a new one (Apple ID allows you to use a lot of phone functions, including data synchronization, iMessage services, Apple Music and others).
- Create a short password to lock your smartphone (or scan your fingerprint).
- Setting up iCloud storage and Keychain Access (password and credit card storage) for the first time.
- Enabling location determination and the "Find iPhone" function (the "Find iPhone" function allows you to protect, and possibly find the missing phone).
- Activation of the smartphone at the service provider.
This is how the iPhone 5s is set up from scratch; for those who have already used such a gadget, it will be enough to recover from a previously created copy of the device.
Introducing iTunes
It is not always possible to activate the device via the Internet, sometimes you need to use Apple's multimedia center called iTunes. This application allows you not only to activate the gadget, but also to manage the data that is stored on it.
To activate, you need to connect the iPhone to the computer using the supplied USB cable and press the "Trust" button on the phone. This is all that is needed to activate the iPhone 5s, settings and further refinement can be done already on the device.

A swipe from top to bottom in the center of the screen opens Spotlight, Apple's search service that lets you search for content both on your device and on the web.
Features of iPhone 5s: Touch ID settings
One of the signature features of this one is its setup does not take much time and usually occurs before activation. Multimedia
The operating system that the iPhone runs on is fundamentally different from other systems. The main difference between iOS and other platforms is the closed file system. Because of this feature, the iPhone had a lot of haters who were deprived of the ability to freely download any content to the phone. Apple sells multimedia content: they sell movies and TV series in the iTunes Store, apps in the AppStore, and music through the Apple Music service. If you are willing to pay and be content with these services, then there will be no further problems, all three services work great and are abundant in content.

Separately, it is worth considering the process of creating an Apple ID with and without an account. If you are ready to buy applications and pay for various services built into the system, then you should indicate your payment information (credit card). If you are ready to make do with free programs and services, you should skip this stage during device activation, and try to download a free application from the AppStore after activation (if you do this, then the item "None" will appear in the payment data attachment menu, which is what the themes need (who doesn't want to assign their credit card to Apple ID).
Optimization of battery life
One of the features of all modern smartphones is GPS. This function allows you to determine the location of the device, which helps you to navigate the terrain, calculate the way to work or find devices in case of loss.
The disadvantage is a significant reduction in the operating time of the gadget from a single charge. Therefore, the function of determining geolocation, although it is necessary for the iPhone 5s, is still worth performing the settings to optimize its work. First of all, go to "Settings> Privacy> Geolocation services", here you can disable all unnecessary programs that require access to GPS, as well as system services, such as: compass calibration, collection of diagnostic data and frequently visited places.

With prolonged use, installing updates and downloading a large number of programs from the AppStore, problems often arise related to the performance of the gadget, autonomy, or the operation of some system functions. In order to fix them, you can contact service support or try to clean the system manually, but the best method would be to clean it up globally and return to the original settings. Before returning to factory settings, your iPhone 5s should back up any important data and turn off Find My iPhone. Next, go to Settings> General> Reset. Select the desired item and enter the password. After a few minutes, all settings will be returned to those that were in the phone by default (upon purchase), the setup will have to be done again (in this case, all basic data will be saved in the cloud or in your copy on iTunes, after which you can restore everything).

1. Turning on the iPhone for the first time.
First, turn on the iPhone. Press and hold the power button on the iPhone for 1-2 seconds. On older versions of iPhones (iPhone 4,4s, 5,5c, 5s) it is on top, on newer versions (iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus) it is on the right. First, a white apple appears on a black background, and then a greeting in different languages: Hello, Greetings, and so on. We need to swipe from left to right to start setting up the iPhone for the first time.
First, you need to select the language of the iPhone and the language of its interface. Click on the language in which you want to configure the iPhone. I will choose Russian.
Turn geolocation on or off. Then you can turn on geolocation to turn on the GPS-module on the iPhone and it will determine where you are in order to offer you, for example, the weather of the exact place where you are at the moment or the nearest store, or set you the current time zone when you move from one city to another or from one country to another. Or to determine where you are at the moment, so that you can find yourself on the map. Also, the iPhone can remember the places you frequently visit and track your movement. I wrote about this in the article.
But the GPS module consumes battery power and we don't need it at the moment, so I'll turn it off by choosing to turn off geolocation services. Geolocation can be enabled later, or you can enable its use for a specific application at the time of its operation.
Now we come to the step of using an existing Apple ID or creating a new Apple ID.
2. Create an Apple ID.
If you have not yet had an iPhone or iPad, or you want to create a new Apple ID, then we choose to set it up as a new iPhone. If you already have an Apple ID and want to use it, then select Restore from iCloud Copy or Restore from iTunes Copy. I talked about restoring the iPhone in the article.

Apple ID is your iOS account (iPhone or iPad) for use with Apple devices.
With Apple ID, you can make purchases of apps, music, movies on your iPhone, send free imessage (SMS messages between iPhones and iPads), make FaceTime calls (free video calls between iPhones and iPads), and more.
In general, without an Apple ID, neither here nor there, and its presence is required.
Now we choose to indicate our first and last name.
You need an email address to create an Apple ID. You can specify your already existing mailbox, various notifications about the purchase of applications in the AppStore (when you make them), security notifications and other letters from Apple will be sent there.
You can create a new mailbox on the Apple server and link the new mailbox to your Apple ID. To do this, choose to get a free e-mail in iCloud and click next.
Now we come up with your new e-mail. It will be of this type: [email protected]. This will be your Apple ID login.
To switch the keyboard from Russian to English, click on the bottom left on the globe icon.

We confirm the creation of an e-mail by clicking create.
Now you need to create a password for your Apple ID. Your Apple ID password cannot be less than 8 characters and must contain at least one number, one uppercase and one lowercase letter.
That is, the password must be of the type: Genadii6 or Kartohul0 or 4etyResta or dvustoroniiDild0.
After you have come up with a good password and confirmed it, click next.
Now you need to select security questions and come up with answers to them. Security questions are used to authenticate the user when changes are made to the account information.
Click on select a question.

- childhood best friend name
- the name of your first pet
- the first dish you learned to cook
- the first movie you saw in the cinema
- where did you first fly on an airplane
- the name of your favorite teacher
I chose the name of my childhood best friend and gave the answer. The answer can be absolutely anything. The main thing is that you remember this answer if something happens to your Apple ID account.
After you have chosen a question and given an answer to it, click on.
And finally, the third question and answer and click on.
Now we indicate the backup mailbox, in case your primary e-mail is not available to you, you can restore access to your Apple ID through the backup mailbox. This email will only be used for security purposes.
After you have specified your mailbox, click next.
Now setting up updates. Get Apple news, software updates, and the latest information on Apple products and services.
I do not want to receive news and information from Apple to my email, so I will disable these updates.

3. Create a password for the iPhone

That is, you can help Apple by clicking "send automatically", then from time to time your iPhone or iPad will send usage data to Apple: in which applications and how long you sit, where you are, where you click, what settings you use, what you write, and so on. All this helps to understand who and how is using their products. If you do not want your data to be sent periodically to Apple, then select "do not send".
