However, with further cooperation with sites - we forget these same passwords, which is, in general, natural! There is no need to remember too much! because browsers cleverly cope with this task: they remember both logins and passwords ... and when we re-enter the site, they automatically substitute the required data into the form ... but note: often passwords are issued in the form of asterisks - dots. This is provided by the security system!

The web developer console (developer tools) in the browser will help us to see the password instead of dots!

This method is wonderful because, having studied, we get the most useful knowledge, which will help us to use Internet tools with ease and to the full extent of possibilities. Study carefully! healthy!..

The required piece of code will open in the opened "developer console":

We need to change the password command to text - and that's it.

In order for the password to be displayed in ordinary characters, we need to double-click on the word password. The ability to edit the code will open - right in the console.

It's simple: erase the password and write text.

After this action - the password in the input form will become visible! that is, the asterisks will disappear, but will appear ...

Do not be afraid that the password is now in danger ... when you reload the page, the password will be hidden again with dots !! So copy and transfer to a safe place.

The free utility that we are going to look at today is the Password Cracker program, which allows you to see the password under the asterisks. This utility is free, and you can download it from the link at the bottom of the article. Its installation is very simple, it does not even require installation and additional files, so let's figure out the main functionality of this free program.

Used by Password Cracker to gain access to certain files when they are protected by an unknown password. It will help ensure that any protection is removed, except for VBA projects. The program itself can float over windows, fall into the tray, it weighs quite a bit, only 10Kb.

So, if you see asterisks in front of you and have completely forgotten your password, then the free Password Cracker utility will help you see it. Let's say you don't remember it to your ICQ or mail, document or social page, but the password is there in the form of asterisks. And the question arises - how to see the password instead of asterisks?

First, you need to click the "Enable" button, then put the cursor on the field where the "stars live". Then the password will be restored in the program window or in the same screen. So now it's easy to find out your forgotten password. And also Password Cracker shows passwords in the Internet Explorer browser, in the tooltip that appears next to the closed password field.

The program interface is multilingual, that is, you can use both the Russian version and the original. The utility is suitable for the following operating systems: Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, 7, 8, 2003, Vista.

There are several varieties of Password Cracker, for example Rar Password Cracker. It is also free and freely available.

This utility does not crack the password, but rather guesses it. Indeed, to protect the data used in Rar, starting from version 2.9 and higher, an algorithm is very resistant to cracking - AES-128. And in the archives, where it was used as a defense, none of the known techniques are suitable. Only sequential selection of characters can take effect. This is the main task of Rar Password Cracker, because it is simply impossible to manually solve such a task! And even with this program, it will take quite a long amount of time to calculate the required combination.

So, Rar Password Cracker chooses a password by enumerating possible variants of characters and / or using passwords from a special list. This program can save the results of work, or rather its current state. This feature makes the use of the program more reliable and convenient. And if you are well versed in the configurations of utilities, then with proper settings, the enumeration process can be parallelized, which will significantly reduce the search time. In addition, Rar Password Cracker can save possible password variants to a file.

Download a program that allows you to see the password under the asterisks

This manual details how to view saved passwords in the browsers Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and IE, Opera, Mozilla Firefox and Yandex Browser. Moreover, this can be done not only by standard means provided by the browser settings, but also using free programs for viewing saved passwords. If you are interested in how to save the password in the browser (also a frequent question on the topic), just enable the offer to save them in the settings (where exactly - will also be shown in the instructions).

Note: if you need to delete saved passwords from browsers, you can do this in the same settings window, where you can view them and which are described below.

Google chrome

In order to view the passwords saved in Google Chrome, go to the browser settings (three dots to the right of the address bar - "Settings"), and then click at the bottom of the page "Show advanced settings".

In the "Passwords and Forms" section, you will see the option to enable saving passwords, as well as the "Configure" link opposite this item ("Offer to save passwords"). Click on it.

A list of saved logins and passwords will be displayed. After selecting any of them, click "Show" to view the saved password.

For security reasons, you will be asked to enter the password of the current Windows 10, 8 or Windows 7 user and only after that the password will be displayed (but you can view it without this, using third-party programs, which will be described at the end of this material). Also in 2018 version of Chrome 66 there was a button to export all saved passwords, if required.

Yandex browser

You can view saved passwords in the Yandex browser in almost the same way as in Chrome:

Also, as in the previous case, to view the password, you will need to enter the password of the current user (and in the same way, it is possible to view it without it, which will be demonstrated).

Mozilla Firefox

Unlike the first two browsers, in order to find out the passwords stored in Mozilla Firefox, the password of the current Windows user is not required. The necessary actions themselves are as follows:

After that, the list will display the sites, the usernames used and their passwords, as well as the date of the last use.

Opera

Viewing saved passwords in the Opera browser is organized in the same way as in other Chromium-based browsers (Google Chrome, Yandex Browser). The steps will be almost identical:

To view the password, you will have to select any saved profile from the list and click "Show" next to the password symbols, and then enter the password for the current Windows account (if for some reason this is not possible, see free programs for viewing saved passwords below).

Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge

Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge passwords are stored in the same Windows credential store and can be accessed in several ways.

The most versatile (in my opinion):

Additional ways to get into the management of saved passwords of these browsers:

Programs for viewing saved passwords in browsers

One of the most famous programs of this kind is NirSoft ChromePass, which shows saved passwords for all popular Chromium-based browsers, which include Google Chrome, Opera, Yandex Browser, Vivaldi and others.

Immediately after starting the program (you need to run as administrator), the list will display all sites, logins and passwords saved in such browsers (as well as additional information, such as the name of the password field, creation date, password strength and the data file where it is stored).

Additionally, the program can decrypt passwords from browser data files from other computers.

Please note that many antiviruses () define it as unwanted (precisely because of the ability to view passwords, and not because of some extraneous activity, as I understand it).

ChromePass is available as a free download on the official website www.nirsoft.net/utils/chromepass.html(in the same place you can download the file of the Russian interface language, which must be unpacked into the same folder where the executable file of the program is located).

Another good set of free programs for the same purpose is available from the developer SterJo Software (and at the moment they are "clean" according to VirusTotal). At the same time, each of the programs allows you to view the saved passwords for individual browsers.

The following password related software is available for free download:

  • SterJo Chrome Passwords - for Google Chrome
  • SterJo Firefox Passwords - for Mozilla Firefox
  • SterJo Opera Passwords
  • SterJo Internet Explorer Passwords
  • SterJo Edge Passwords - for Microsoft Edge
  • SterJo Password Unmask - to view passwords under asterisks (but only works in Windows forms, not in browser pages).

You can download the programs on the official page http://www.sterjosoft.com/products.html(I recommend using Portable versions that do not require installation on a computer).

I think the information in the manual will be enough to find out the stored passwords when they are required in one way or another. Let me remind you: when downloading third-party software for such purposes, do not forget to check it for malware and be careful.

Suppose you are on the authorization page on one of the resources in the Opera. When the function is on autocomplete forms, data login and password may already be entered. Everything is clear with the login - it is displayed immediately, while the password is presented in the form of dots or asterisks. This is what it looks like when you try to sign in to your Google account.

Finding out what is hidden under the asterisks is quite simple through element source code... V Opera right-click in the field with asterisks and select the item from the context menu.

However, upon subsequent renewal page of this resource, the key will again be hidden behind dots or asterisks.

The saved user keys can also be seen in browser settings... For Opera this data is in settings, chapter Safety- field Passwords.

Here you can open and see saved keys from various resources.

Google chrome

In Chrome, the principle of opening data is similar. The context menu item of interest is. In the Yandex browser, this item has the same name.

Then just the same, type change to " text».

Then we get open, hiding earlier the code.

In the settings of Chrome, the necessary information can be found in the section Managing saved passwords in the settings (click Show additional).

Here in the field Passwords and Forms click Tune(or Office) next to the item Offer to save passwords.

Next to the points of the required resource, click Show- the required data will open.

Using mozilla firefox

In the Mozilla Firefox browser, the corresponding menu item has the name Explore item.

You can see the information of interest through the browser settings in the section Protection – .

Then press the button Display.

There are also many special extensions and programs that allow you to view data hidden behind the points, not only in browsers, but also in many other programs. For example consider Password cracker... Push the button Turn on, move the cursor over the required area and get the required information.
