How to transfer large files. Online email client from Google or Yandex

“! In this article, we will talk about how send a large file over the internet... Sometimes there is a need to send a large file (for example, 5 gigabytes) from one computer to another via the World Wide Web. If you really need it, but you do not know how to do it, then this article is for you.

It might seem possible to transfer files via email, but this only applies to small files. This is due to the fact that the e-mail service does not provide such large spaces for files. This means that this method of transmission will not work for us (we will need it a little later). And we will do this with the help of the very useful R12 program; uTorrent. What is the advantage of transferring large files this way? And the fact is that when sending in this way, the file is transferred without any speed limits. Even if the download is interrupted, it can be continued without any problems at any time, the main thing is that the transferred file is located in the same place on the hard disk.

What do we need for this? Naturally the Torrent program. You can read where to download it, how to install it and how to use it on the Internet.

So, installed, configured now we will learn to transfer files of large, even huge size through the worldwide network. This can be done in two simple ways.

METHOD 1. Run the program and open the folder with the file you want to send. For example, I took a 4.5 gigabyte .iso image file. Just drag it from the explorer window to the uTorrent window.

Processing began. We are waiting for some time (20-30 sec)

Well, in principle, everything is ready.

Now all that remains is to copy the link and send it to a friend by email. But in order for him to be able to run it, he must also have the same program. I say again, do not be lazy and do not take the time. Learn how to use the program. It will be useful to you more than once.

METHOD 2. Also open the program and open the "File" tab in the top panel. And select item R12; "Create a new torrent"

Then, in the window that opens, click on the button as shown in the picture below

And select the file that we will transfer and click on the "Open" button

We see that it appeared in the "Select source" form, which means everything is fine. Press R12; "Create"

We can call him some sort of our own name (for example, a film for Vasya's friend), but I will leave everything as it is. Select the folder in which we want to put it and press the "Save" button.

A warning will appear where you need to click on "Stop: Do not download this torrent"

This is what we send to our friend by e-mail, or you can even transfer it on a flash drive at a meeting. And he, in turn, at any time convenient for him launches it on his computer and the transfer will begin. The main thing is that at this moment the computer from which the sending is being made is turned on.

Well, that's basically all.

How can you transfer a large file over the Internet in different ways? Many users have encountered a similar problem, because there are no problems with transferring small files.

The main problem when transferring a large file is its size. In most cases, services and applications limit the file size to a certain amount, which cannot be exceeded.

A small file can be attached to an e-mail message, and a file can be sent via a message in a messenger. In these cases, there are restrictions on the size of the file. With small files everything is clear, but how to transfer a large file?

When transferring files of 1 GB or more, difficulties arise due to the large file size. You won't be able to attach such a file to a message in the traditional way; to transfer it, you need a direct link and support from the service or application.

There are several easy ways to send a large file over the Internet, which I will mention in this article. There are quite a few ways to transfer large files, I will tell you about the simplest and most convenient ways for an ordinary user.

When sending large files, keep in mind that the following factors affect the file transfer speed:

  • the larger the file, the longer it will take to transfer it
  • internet connection speed
  • the workload of remote servers at the time of file transfer, when using a third-party service

You can transfer large files over the Internet between computers using the following methods:

  • cloud storage
  • file sharing services
  • file hosting
  • by synchronization
  • torrent file transfer

Traditional file hosting services (TurboBit, DepositFiles, etc.) are not suitable for exchanging files between users due to the fact that when using such services for free, the download speed is very limited. Therefore, you will have to download a large file for free from there for days.

Synchronization tools allow you to transfer a file to another computer directly, but, unfortunately, there are practically no free solutions.

Previously, it was possible to send large files via Skype, until restrictions were introduced.

How to transfer a large file via Yandex Disk

To use the Yandex.Disk service, you must have a Yandex mail. Using the Yandex service, you can transfer a large file in two ways: directly through Yandex Disk, or send a large file by attaching the file to an e-mail message.

If you are sending a file via email, click the Attach Files from Drive icon, and then send the message to the recipient.

You can attach a file up to 10 GB to an e-mail message (provided that the Yandex Disk client program is installed on your computer). A recipient can save a file larger than 2 GB on his Yandex.Disk, and a file up to 2 GB can be downloaded to a computer or saved to Disk.

Please note that Yandex Disk allows you to upload files up to 10 GB in size (via the Yandex.Disk application or software), and when uploading via the web interface, the file size cannot exceed 2 GB.

The second way to transfer a large file via Yandex: copy the link to the file directly from Yandex Disk, and then send it to the recipient. The link can be sent to one person, to several recipients, or posted to the public.

Follow these steps:

In the cloud storage, the file will be available for download continuously until it is deleted from the storage, or public access is closed to this link.

Similarly, you can use the services of other cloud storage, for example Google Drive, Cloud Mail.Ru, Dropbox, etc. Cloud storage has a different size provided to the user, some of its own characteristics.

How to send a large file to Mega

Mega.nz - cloud storage providing 50 GB of free disk space. A feature of this storage is the encryption of files placed in the "cloud". Files are encrypted on the user side.

Enter the Mega cloud storage, right-click on the file, select "Get link" from the context menu.

In the "Export links and decryption keys" window that opens, select the option you want to send a link to the file, and then copy the link.

Mega uses the following link export options:

  • Keyless link - a link to a file without a decryption key
  • Decryption key - the key to decrypt the link
  • Link with key - link with decryption key

Another user can easily download the file to his computer, having received a link to the file with the decryption key. When transferring a link without a key, the addressee will be able to download the file only after receiving the decryption key.

For transferring large files, it makes sense to use the MEGASync application. For the recipient of a large file, it is desirable to have a Mega account in order to download the file without any problems due to restrictions. After receiving a link to a file larger than 5 GB, the addressee must save the file to his Mega storage (this happens instantly), and then download the file to the computer from his storage.

How to transfer large file to uTorrent

With the help of the program - torrent client uTorrent (or other similar application), you can transfer a large file directly between computers without using an intermediary: a torrent tracker.

By means of technology, which works on the BitTorrent protocol, a file from one computer is sent to another computer, without intermediaries.

Prerequisites for sending a file using this method:

  • torrent software must be installed on both computers
  • file transfer occurs only when the computer sending the file is turned on and connected to the Internet

The file transfer process takes place in several stages:

  1. Create a torrent file with the ".torrent" extension.
  2. Creating a distribution.
  3. Transferring a torrent file or magnet link to the addressee in any convenient way.
  4. Uploading a large file to another computer.

Read the detailed article on this method of sending large files to another computer.

Conclusions of the article

The user can transfer a large file to another user via the Internet using cloud storage, file sharing services, via torrent.

An Internet connection allows people who are thousands of kilometers from each other to communicate with each other. Users can easily communicate with each other and exchange photos by mail. However, what if you needed to send a large enough amount of data? This article provides a guide on how you can transfer a large file to another user over the Internet.

You may need to transfer large files if you want to transfer an archive with a large number of photos, a database, a Blu-ray movie or an ISO image of a program or game. The volume of such archives can reach gigantic proportions, and it is simply impossible to send them by mail. The following are several services through which you can send a similar amount of information at once.

Cloud storage

Clouds can also be used to transfer files through them to another user. Some clouds are freely available (for example, Mail.ru), others must be rented. This article discusses the popular Google Drive service, which provides 15 gigabytes of space for free to any registered client.

First you need to go to your disk. To do this, go to https://drive.google.com/drive/my-drive. Right-click anywhere in the window and select the action "Upload files" or "Upload folder". Specify the object you want to send, after which it will be uploaded to the cloud.

Now you need to configure file access. Right click on the object and select the "Share" action in the context menu. Select Enable Link Access. The object link will be copied to the clipboard. Now it can be sent by mail to another person, and he will be able to download data from the site.

Skype

The popular program for messaging and video conferencing on the Internet also allows you to transfer any amount of information. Open a chat with the user and click on the "Send" icon. In the list, select "File" and specify the path to it. The transfer speed will not be very high, but the system is very easy to use and works with files of any size.

Torrent

For this method, you need to download the UTorrent utility.

Finally, there are many specialized Internet resources specifically for these activities. You can upload your content to them and send links to your friends or colleagues. The advantage of the system is that you do not need to keep your PC turned on, as is the case with cloud storage.

Many file hosting services work only with authorized clients. However, there is a popular resource ex.ua that does not require registration. Go to the page http://www.ex.ua/ and click the "Create" button.

First of all, we will talk about large files, because there are no problems with small ones - they can be sent by mail, via Skype or a social network.

But with large ones, it is much more difficult to do this, since they take a long time to download and at the most inopportune moment the download can be interrupted.

We need a method that will allow both us and the person to whom we want to transfer the file to upload it as quickly and easily as possible. That is, so that we do not strain, and the recipient does not have to suffer by installing additional programs.

You can transfer files over the Internet as quickly and easily as possible using cloud storage services.

The principle is as follows: you upload a file to your cloud, after which you receive a link to download it. Send this link to the person to whom you want to transfer the file. Everything! A person goes on it and downloads.

How to upload a file to the cloud

If you don’t have your own cloud on the Internet or you don’t understand what it is at all, study the "Cloud" lesson.

There are two options: either you upload the file to the cloud through a special application - a program on your computer, or without it - through a browser.

We will now take a closer look at each of these methods.

Upload and transfer the file without an application

Let's consider a way to transfer a file without using a special program - a cloud application. The whole process will take place through a regular browser - Google Chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, Yandex, Internet Explorer or any other.

In the browser that you use to browse the Internet, you need to open your cloud service and upload a file to it.

I will show this process in the three most popular services - Yandex.Disk, [email protected], Google Drive.

We go into our cloud through a browser (program for the Internet). Since we are talking about "mail" cloud services, we just open your email account. Then we go to the section where the cloud is located.

In the mail on the website yandex.ru, this section is located here:

In mail.ru - here:

And in gmail.com, you need to click on the squares at the top right and select the "Disk" item:

Then we click on the button with which you can upload the file to the cloud. In Yandex.Disk, it is at the top and looks like this:

In [email protected], this button is located in the upper left corner (under the logo):

In this cloud, when you click on it, an additional window opens in which you need to click on the "Select files" button:

In Google Drive, the button for uploading a file is located in the upper left corner - it is red with a drawn arrow, next to the "Create" button:

When you click on it, a small list will open, from which you need to select the "Files ..." item:

In each cloud, a special window opens to download a file:

In this window, you need to find and select on your computer the file that you want to download. That is, right in the window, you need to open the folder in which the file is located, and double-click on it with the left mouse button.

The download will start. It is necessary to wait until this process is complete. The download speed depends on your internet speed as well as the computer file size. The larger it is, the longer the download will take.

When the file is uploaded, in the window with its download it will be written about it:

We close this window and see the uploaded file inside the cloud, next to other files.

To do this in Yandex.Disk, click on the file icon.

A check mark will appear at the bottom, and an additional part for editing the file will open on the right side.

We click on the "Off" switch. It changes to "On" and the link address appears next to it.

To get a link in [email protected], you need to hover the cursor over the file. A gray stripe will appear on it with an icon depicting chain links on the right side.

You need to move the cursor over this icon - it will be highlighted in green - and click on it with the left mouse button.

A small window will appear with a link to download the file.

In Google Drive, to get a link, you need to click on the box to the left of the file to check the box.

Then click on the button with the image of a man and the +

A window will open in which you need to configure access. To do this, in the "Access level" part, click on the "Change" link.

Another window will open, in which you need to click on the item "To everyone who has a link" and click on the "Save" button below.

After that, the already familiar window will open, in which there will be a link to the file.

And also this link can be published anywhere: in a blog, on a website, in a forum. Any user, by clicking on it, will be able to download this file to his computer.

Upload and transfer the file through the application

If a special program is installed on your computer, then uploading a file to the cloud through it can be much faster and easier than without it.

Let me remind you that each cloud service has its own such program, and it is from it that you need to download it.

To load the file into the program, first open the place in the computer where it is located. Then we copy it (right mouse button on the file - Copy).

After that, open the application for working with the cloud. As a rule, for this you need to open the corresponding shortcut on the Desktop or go to Start - All Programs and find it there.

A regular folder will open. Paste the file that you just copied into it (the right button inside the window - Paste).

After copying, synchronization will immediately begin, that is, uploading the file to the cloud service. In this case, the Internet must be connected.

This procedure takes some time. Sometimes it happens instantly, and sometimes you have to wait a long time.

You can see how the synchronization is progressing by clicking on the application icon in the tray.

This is where the other icons are on the taskbar (next to the clock).

Also, your program's icon might be under the button with an upward-pointing arrow.

When you left or right click on the application icon, a menu will open in which it will be written about how the synchronization is going.

If it has already ended, then something like the following will be written:

This means that the file has already been uploaded. It remains to get a link to it. To do this, in the application window, click on the desired file with the right mouse button and select the appropriate item from the menu.

In Yandex.Disk, it is called Yandex.Disk: Copy a public link.

In the [email protected] - "Cloud @ Mail.Ru: Copy the public link."

And in Google Drive, point to the "Google Drive" item and select "Open Access". Then in the window that appears in the "Access Levels" section, click "Change ...", select the "Everyone who has a link" item and click on the "Save" button. Then copy the link and close the window.

That's all! It remains only to send it to the person to whom the file is intended. That is, insert into Skype, a social network, or into an email.

  2. Get the link and copy it.
  3. Paste the link into the address bar of your browser and press the Enter button on your keyboard.

You need to transfer a large file over the Internet, but it doesn't fit in an email attachment. Let's look at 3 alternative ways to transfer a large file over the Internet - even directly from one computer to another.

As a rule, to transfer a file over the Internet, we use e-mail, attaching it as an attachment. This option may not be available if you need to mail a large file. This is due to the fact that e-mail very often imposes a limit on the size of an attachment that can be attached to a letter. However, there are other ways to transfer large files over the Internet to your friends or colleagues.

WeTransfer is one of the best sites for transferring large file sizes over the Internet. Using this service, you can send large files up to 2GB in size to your friends by e-mail. In the free version, after sending, the file will be stored on the WeTransfer server for up to 7 days and will be sent to the specified email address as a download link.

Using this service, transferring data is very simple and easy. In a small field of the form, you need to accept the conditions, and then select a file to send. To do this, click on the "+ Add your files" button and select the ones you want to transfer.

It should be remembered that the maximum size of one message should not exceed 2GB, but the service has no restrictions on the number of files sent. Thus, if you have several large files with a total size that exceeds 2GB, then you can forward several messages and attach a separate file to each.

After attachment, enter in the "Email to" field the email address of the user to whom you want to send a message with a download link. In the "Your e-mai" field, enter your email address - it will be displayed in the sender field and your friend will know that the message came from you.

In the "Message" field, you can add any text that will be displayed in the body of the message, right above the link.

This is a great way to tell a friend what he needs to do to download data to his computer (for example, "I am sending you the file you asked for - click on the link below to download it"). Then click on the "Transfer" button and wait until it is uploaded to the server and sent to a friend.

A friend will have 7 days to receive a message with a link. In the free version, the transferred file is stored for one week and then deleted from the WeTransfer servers.

Method 2: Takeafile - Safe Transfer from One Computer to Another

The considered WeTransfer service stores data on its server, from which your friend can then download them. Of course, they will be deleted after a week, but if you want to maintain the confidentiality of your data, then you should use a solution that does not require the participation of "third parties". Such a solution is the Takeafile service, which allows you to send large amounts of information directly from one computer to another using P2P network technology, using the same browser. In addition, if you are looking for an answer to the question of how to quickly transfer a large file from computer to computer, then this service is just what you need.

When you enter the site, you will see a fairly simple interface with a proposal to select the data to download. Press the plus button in the center of the screen and highlight the ones you want to send.

When you specify the files, a unique URL will appear that you need to share with a friend. Copy it and then share it via email or chat.

Important. Do not leave the Takeafile website, otherwise the link will expire.

After a friend opens the link, a connection will start between your computers. After a while, it comes to data transmission. Files are transferred directly from one computer to another. Therefore, do not leave the page or disconnect your internet connection.

The advantage of this solution is that information in large volumes is transmitted directly from "point A to point B". The main disadvantage is that the sender and recipient must be connected to each other on the site at this time. There is no way to transfer a file to someone "in reserve" so that he can download it in a few days. It is a solution for people who want to quickly transfer data directly from one computer to another.

Method 3: cloud storage Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive

If you do not want to use lesser-known services in which there is no way to control your data, then it is better to use cloud data storage. Files that you uploaded to the Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive (or other similar service) cloud can be shared with your friends for a long time, and when they download them, you can block or completely delete from your cloud.

Of course, each cloud storage has its own interface, so the process may look different depending on whether you are using Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive. However, the process of using is very similar - we upload the file to the cloud, then right-click on it and select "get a link to share". Check out how to transfer a large file using the example of Dropbox.

You can sync a file in any way - if you are using the Dropbox client on Windows, simply place it in the sync directory to upload to the cloud. If you're using the cloud primarily in your browser, simply sign in and drag the file into the Dropbox window to upload.

Now you can send the file to someone by e-mail - to do this, enter its address and click on the "Can view" button. If you want to receive a link, click on "Create link" and send it to a friend, for example, by e-mail.
