The now popular Chinese company Xiaomi has released several lines of phones, including such popular models as Xiaomi Redmi 4A, Xiaomi Redmi 3s, Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro, and many others.

What these models have in common is that a SIM card can be inserted in a completely identical way. How to insert a SIM card in Xiaomi Redmi 4 (and in many other models, for example, in Xiaomi Redmi 4A) - this is our article today.

To perform this operation, you will need the Xiaomi smartphone itself, plus a paper clip for opening the tray, which already comes with the kit in the box with the phone. The tray itself is located on the left side of the device, and you can also insert a microSD flash drive there instead of a second SIM card.

Sequencing

  • Insert a paper clip into the small hole on the tray;
  • Press until it clicks, take out the inserted paper clip;
  • We take out the tray from the phone.

Here you will see two places at once - for nano and micro SIM cards (in Redmi 3), and a hybrid tray in Redmi 3 Pro, 3X and 3S (instead of a second SIM card, you can insert a memory card there).

It is necessary to install cards in the required connectors, then carefully insert the tray back into the smartphone. If done correctly, you will hear a click and feel that the tray is level with the body of the phone.

How to insert a memory card

Anyone who has repeatedly inserted SIM-cards into his Xiaomi knows that not only they are inserted there. The card in Xiaomi Redmi 4, as always, can be placed in another - micro SD, which serves as an internal storage. It can store pictures, photos, music, videos, install applications and much more. You can do without a flash drive, but the built-in memory is not always enough, so users have to choose - either two mobile numbers or additional space for files.

To install a memory card, you need to perform almost the same actions as in the previous paragraph - insert a paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray, press until it clicks, pull out the tray and insert the SIM card into the first slot, and the SD memory card in the second.

Simultaneous placement of two cards and an SD drive

Yes, yes, there is such a method, but we consider it our duty to warn you: any actions are performed at your own peril and risk, they can harm your smartphone. If you want a Xiaomi smartphone to simultaneously serve for two phone numbers and for a large number of personal files and programs, follow the instructions below.

To do this, you need to warm up the SIM card under the lighter for 15-20 seconds, and then carefully remove the electronic chip from the plastic shell and insert it, as well as the SD memory card into a special slot in the tray. But do this in such a way that the golden contacts do not overlap with each other, but can be recognized and separated by the smartphone as separate. After that, insert the tray into the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro, as usual, and check the functionality of this method by turning on the gadget. With a high degree of probability, the phone will see both SIM cards and the memory card at the same time, however, we do not guarantee that the device will not malfunction.

In any case, we advise you to be careful and not once again risk the integrity and safety of your gadget - it is better to choose one of two real options than then regret your ingenuity with a broken phone.

As a rule, the internal reserves of the smartphone's memory are not enough to store a large amount of content: programs, videos, photos. The moment comes when you need to free up space for recording something new. This becomes a problem if it is not possible to delete anything due to the importance of the information. The way out of the situation is to transfer the data available in the Android device to a removable SD card. It is worth understanding how to install an application on a memory card in detail, with the disclosure of some of the nuances.

Ways to install applications on a memory card

Most budget models of smartphones based on Android OS have limited internal memory (4–8 GB), more expensive ones - up to 32 GB, flagships - about 128 GB. This is because such devices predominantly support micro SD cards. Therefore, before purchasing a mobile gadget, the first step is to clarify this aspect.

This volume is quite enough for ordinary users. To expand the internal reserves of memory, insert microSD cards and configure a new persistence path for downloaded files, applications and other content. It is not difficult to do this through the phone settings or special utilities taken from Google Play.

Applications downloaded earlier to the phone can be transferred to a removable memory card, if there is an Android version of at least 2. 2. This procedure can be carried out exclusively manually.

How the installed applications are moved to the SD card:

Sequencing Illustrative example
In the menu, find the item "Applications" or "Application manager".
To get acquainted with the list of programs available on the phone, click on the "SD-card" column. Opposite to each application, the volume occupied by it is indicated in MB or GB. Select the one that you want to move to removable media, and click on it once.
A window with full information about this product opens automatically. There is also a line "Memory", which should be selected. Then click "Change".
Next, in the pop-up window, select "Memory card" or "Move to SD card". Wait a few seconds for the process to complete successfully

They take into account the fact that the application is not completely moved to the external memory card, partially its data remains in the internal storage. The size depends on the functionality of the mobile device. If you remove the card and insert it into another smartphone, the applications will not function.

File Manager

You can use the file manager to transfer videos, photos and other files. On most smartphones, this option is installed initially. Then they act like this:

  1. They enter the "Memory" tab, which is located at the top. You can immediately see the possible options for memory on the device: sdcard0 - internal, sdcard1 - external.
  2. Start changing the location of the photo. To do this, click on sdcard0 and are transferred sequentially to the DCIM and Camera folder. This is the place where the photos taken with the smartphone are kept.
  3. In the lower right corner there is an ellipsis, which should be clicked, and in the pop-up window, select the line "Select multiple files".
  4. The necessary ones for moving are marked with a tick.
  5. Finish the process by clicking on "Move".
  6. Go into the micro SD card and click "Insert".

Audio and other files are transferred in a similar way.

Changing the installation location of applications on a smartphone

The ability to synchronize an external memory card with an internal one appeared only on Android, starting with the sixth version. The developers have created a function called Adoptable storage. With its help, you can format removable storage in such a way that the smartphone OS begins to perceive it as an integral part. As a result, the internal memory reserve is greatly expanded.

This kind of adaptation has a number of disadvantages, namely: the portable storage becomes a single whole with the operating system of a particular mobile device. When you uninstall the OS, there is a high probability of losing all applications stored on the microSD card.

A step-by-step overview that will help you understand the essence of the adaptive bank:

  1. Insert the SD card into the smartphone.
  2. A dialog box appears instantly for further actions regarding the setting. The system offers a choice of 2 installation options: internal memory or external.
  3. Stop on the inside.
  4. The card must be formatted to protect the data on it. Before that, create a backup copy if the card contains something important.
  5. In the Android settings, they find the "Storage and USB-drives" column.

If you have completed the steps correctly, you can see your card in the list of drives.

Please note that when downloading applications, they will not be immediately installed on the memory card, but will be fixed in the internal storage. But there are many programs that allow you to change the installation path of applications. When there is an official firmware on the phone called Cyanogen Mod, it is possible to independently change the installation location of applications on the smartphone. With unofficial firmware versions, they usually use programs - App2SD, apps2sd, A2SD, etc. A subsection EXT is created on the map, where the content will be migrated.

Transferring files, depending on the manufacturer

In some smartphone models, manufacturers purposefully disable the Adoptable Storage option, despite the modern version of Android - Marshmallow or Nougat. The explanation is the fact that the expansion in the form of an SD card negatively affects the operating speed of the gadget. But many users have learned to bypass these restrictions with some clever tricks. It turns out that this function has not been completely removed from the firmware, but only remains in a passive state.

Samsung

As already mentioned, it is not possible to install applications to SD media by default in the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge flagships. But it is possible to enable such a function manually. The essence of the procedure is that after inserting the card into the device, you need to format it correctly. Before that, make a backup copy, since all data will be deleted. Then connect the device to a personal computer using a USB cable. Next, you need to execute a series of sequential commands.

Download USB drivers for this model and a set of Minimal ADB / Fastboot applications that will help you perform certain manipulations on Android via a PC. After installing the drivers, unpack the archive, specifying any path to the location on the computer.

On the smartphone, they enter the settings, activate the parameters specified by the developer and USB debugging. Why move in the following direction: "Settings" - "Information about the phone" - "Build number". The last field is clicked 7 times in a row. After that, the developers tab will appear in the settings, which you need to enable. A check mark is put in front of the "USB debugging" column. A request for consent to further manipulations should be displayed on the screen of the mobile device. To confirm, check the box next to the "Remember this computer" entry and click "Allow".

Go to the folder on the computer where the Minimal ADB / Fastboot archive was unpacked. It should contain Fastboot and ADB.exe files. To continue working, hold down the Shift key and at the same time use the right mouse button while pointing the cursor at this folder. In the submenu that opens, select "Open command window".

At the command line, type adb shell and confirm with Enter. As a result, there is a synchronization with a mobile gadget. Enter the sm list-disks command, which allows you to view the connected memory cards. Such information begins with the word "disk" - the identifier assigned to the media.

They start formatting, which starts when the command is typed in - sm partition disk: 192: 117 private. The numbers include those that were displayed specifically for the user. After that, the SD card will merge with the internal memory of the device. All that remains is to disconnect the cable.

You can check the result of the work done if you enter the settings, in the "Memory" tab. Now there will be no division into external and internal memory.

As a result, there is no need to manually move unnecessary data if there is a shortage of storage space in the smartphone. The system automatically uses free space.

Xiaomi

It is not so difficult to install the utilities directly to removable media in Xiaomi smartphones if you strictly follow a certain algorithm. To do this, you need to enter the settings: they are located in a curtain that extends from above in the form of a gear.

Select the item "All applications" and go to the tab "Documents", which is located at the end of the list.

At the bottom of the screen, find the "Enable" icon and enter the Total Commander file. If not, then install by a single click on the "Install" button.

When they see the line "User-defined location", they activate it.

They find the SD card and click on "Select".

This completes the procedure. Now the removable card is freely synchronized with the internal storage, and the downloaded content will be immediately directed to it.

For the Android OS, many utilities have been developed that make it easier to work with applications - they not only allow you to transfer them directly from the Play Market to a card carrier, but also perform a number of other functions: view statistics, clear the cache, delete several files at the same time, etc.

The limited resource for storing files on smartphones forces the user to look for an opportunity to install the application on the card. Although the task seems simple, there are few ways to solve it. Let's consider the simplest ones.

By switching from internal memory to external

In Xiaomi, it is recommended to install the application on a memory card after copying all the files stored on it. Otherwise, they will be lost during the pairing process. After the manipulations are performed:

1. Go to “Settings” - “Storage”, click on the SD card.

2. At the "three points" click on "Storage settings"

3. Open the line "Internal memory"

If a warning about the slow operation of microsd appears on the screen, then it should not be ignored, otherwise the device will be unstable. It is imperative to make a replacement.

5. After cleaning is complete, you should mark the services for loading to an additional file storage resource.

6. Reboot.

It is important to take into account that now the information stored on the SD will be encrypted and unavailable for recognition on another device. Simple removal from the slot may cause the Xiaomi to malfunction.

You can unpin the card from the phone in the "storage settings" by marking "Portable media".

Via ADB driver

In Xiaomi smartphones, you can forcibly install the application on SD. Requires ADB driver, PC and USB debugging permission. After the utility is downloaded on Windows, you need to run it.

Enter one of the following commands on the computer:

  • Su - if you have root rights, or skip;
  • pm getInstallLocation ("0" by default);
  • pm getInstallLocation 1 - installation in the "native" phone memory;
  • pm getInstallLocation 2 - installation on a portable device.

Not all users will want to perform this algorithm, and for some it will seem incredibly complicated. But the method is considered effective, and in case of failure of other options, it can help out.

Over time, even smartphones do not allow saving new files and downloads to the internal memory, as it runs out. In this case, just by the way a micro - card. A slot for it is available in all modern gadgets. However, this is only the most obvious reason for using an external storage device.

The expediency of transferring data from Xiaomi to a memory card

The mass of downloaded services from unverified sources make Xiaomi smartphones vulnerable to viruses, and their active mode at the same time makes the system work for wear and tear. As a result, the gadget often freezes and needs a deep reboot. After the performed actions, most of the files “fly off” and it is not always possible to restore them. In order not to lose important data, you should create backups for important photos, notes, etc. to external media. Another reason why it is important to periodically “transfer” information to SD is to free up phone storage for normal operation.

If the transfer of pictures is not difficult even for the most inexperienced user, then the situation with software is more complicated. By default, this function is prohibited in Xiaomi, and this can be done through third-party programs.

How to Transfer Apps to Xiaomi Card

This program is one of the most commonplace and common even in a new phone (as a bonus from the manufacturer). The use of labor will not amount to. After starting, select “Application Manager”, mark the services and use the “Move” button to send them to the removable storage device. However, the transfer function is not always possible.

2. AppMgr III (App 2 SD)

The utility is efficient and does not require root rights. When you start the program, a list of installed software will appear on the screen. To send, you need to swipe right across the screen and select a line with movement. The list will only contain software that is allowed to be transferred. Choose what you want and follow the instructions.
