How to disable automatic activation of programs. How to disable automatic download of programs

If, when you turn on your computer, your operating system takes a very long time to load, then the point is in those programs that open automatically. A whole bunch of apps are running at the same time. This significantly slows down the computer. Therefore, you need to disable the automatic launch of applications. We will look at the most popular methods for various systems.

Autorun programs in Windows 7. MSConfig utility.

This method is quite simple. Go to the Start Menu. Next, enter msconfig in the search bar. Open the first (and only) result.

Here you see a huge list of applications. And they all start at boot. Review the entire list carefully. Uncheck the boxes for those utilities that you do not need at startup. Then save your changes and be sure to restart your computer. The OS should boot many times faster.

Tip: If you've accidentally disabled some required utility, don't worry! Just go back and check the boxes where you want.

How to disable autostart through the registry?

This is the hardest way. It is better not to do anything in the registry, as it is possible to disrupt the operation of the computer if you do something wrong. So, open the Start Menu. Below, in the search box, enter regedit.

Then find the two Run sections. In the screenshot, you can see the full paths. One of them is responsible for automatic launch for the current user, and the other for all users.

Go there and simply remove the components of those utilities that you do not need.

Programs to disable autorun

There is a utility called Autoruns, which is quite powerful. In it you can find absolutely all applications that start at boot.

You can download it from this official site: https://download.sysinternals.com/files/Autoruns.zip.

Then unpack the archive and run the utility. This is how it looks:

Go to the Everything tab. This means that there are collected programs that automatically open on your computer. After that, uncheck the boxes next to those that you want to disable at startup.

CCleaner utility.

This utility is convenient in that, in addition to disabling autorun, it can also remove any garbage from the computer, making it still productive.

You can download it from this site: http://ccleaner.org.ua/download.

Select the required setting. If you do not know which one to choose, then choose the first one.

Disable unnecessary utilities, and they will no longer bother you the next time you start.

In this way, you can easily and simply disable any program from autorun. The following methods will be discussed for other versions of Windows.

How to disable startup programs in Windows 8

Through the system partition.

Hold down keys such as Win + R.

This window will open. Enter shell: startup, then click OK.

This is where the applications of the current user are stored.

And if you want to open it to all users, then enter shell: common startup.

Now just click on any of the folders you don't need at startup and delete it.

Through the Task Manager

In the next versions of operating systems, automatic start is not in the MSConfig utility, but in the Task Manager. Call the context menu on the control panel with the mouse and select the item you need.

Select the unnecessary application and click on the "Disable" button.

How to disable startup programs in Windows 10

For this operating system, the methods that are listed for version 8 are suitable. Even the location of the folders in the registry is the same.

Tip: use any method other than the registry. Important data is stored there, which is very easy to damage. If you don't understand the registry well, it's better not to even go there.

Thus, now no unnecessary applications will interfere with the computer's boot. Just do not disable all utilities in a row. Of these, some are extremely important for the full operation of a campaign.

The computer takes a long time to boot ... This is a familiar situation. How is it that after installing the system, everything just flies, and then the download takes longer and longer.

The thing is that a clean system is not burdened with so many programs and utilities, which we will then install. Moreover, some utilities are registered at startup without asking us about it. It is clear that we simply cannot do without some; take, for example, antivirus or firewall - this is our line of defense.

How to setup?

Let's move on to the most important thing, how to get to the list of these programs and utilities. For this, Microsoft has developed a very useful utility Msconfig... To run this utility, press the Win + R key and enter the command Msconfig and ok

A window will open " system configuration"and select the tab" "

As you can see, nothing superfluous. The choice of programs that will always be loaded with the system is yours. It is enough to uncheck the program that you do not need. You can also edit the list of services that start with the Windows shell. To do this, open the " Services"

Disable unnecessary services

To disable unused services, just uncheck the box and the selected service. This must be done carefully so as not to disable the desired service. A list of services and recommendations for disabling can be viewed.

Disable autostart via the Windows registry

Additionally, the list of programs can be checked and edited in the registry. To do this, press the Win + R key and enter the command regedit

Now we find the sections

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ RunOnce

in these sections are programs that run for the current user.

In sections

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ RunOnce

here are the programs that run for all users.

To remove a program from autorun, just remove the parameter with the program name.

Conclusion

If you don't want to deal with autoloading yourself, you can use special utilities that will show a list of programs in autoload and disable them.

Hey! Friends, you know what I do on almost every computer that comes to me? That's right, I'm cleaning the startup program list. When I turn on someone else's computer, somewhere in about 80% of cases, I want to cry :). I just cannot observe the process, when, together with turning on the computer, 20 more programs are launched, and the computer seems to have turned on, but I need to wait a few more minutes until the folder can be opened, etc.

As you already understood, I will write about how to remove programs from startup, and thereby speed up the boot of the computer many times. In the article I also wrote about startup programs, and how to clean the startup list. But there I wrote how to do it using the Total Commander program, also with additional utilities, and I probably only have this version of Total Commander :), it is already old.

I remember I was still uneducated in the computer business, and my computer broke down, Windows crashed during the campaign, I don't remember exactly. And I took my system unit for repair to a friend. He did everything for me, for only 20 UAH. and then installed this Total Commander (by the way, I installed it on autostart, I suffered for a long time until I removed it from there :)) and since then I have been using it, though I only use it to clean the system, there is a good utility there. Okay, enough memories :), further on to the case.

So in this article I will write about how to remove programs from autorun using a standard utility in Windows. There are many programs for this business, but I understand that I do not always want to download and install any additional programs, and then also understand them. Moreover, if it is possible to make everything a built-in tool.

Why clean the startup programs list?

Let's first figure out where they come from. It's very simple, you install different programs, some you install yourself, and some are installed without your help. Some programs are added to the startup list, and when the computer is turned on, they start themselves. Sometimes it is convenient and even necessary. It's good when, for example, Skype, antivirus, etc. are automatically launched.

There are programs that start automatically, but you don't need them at all, or you rarely need them. For example, the same DAEMON Tools Lite, an excellent program, but for example I need it once a month, and I can run it myself. And here it starts all the time when you turn on the computer. Okay, if only it starts up, it also works all the time and eats RAM. And if there are ten such useless programs, or more? All this greatly affects the speed of turning on the computer and its operation.

I think you already understood where the startup programs come from and why they start themselves when you turn on the computer. In short, autorun is a list of programs that should start when you turn on your computer.

For what they need to be removed from there, I think you already understood. All this is done in order to increase the boot speed of the computer and increase the speed of its work. After all, all these programs that are always running, of course, slow down the computer, and sometimes they also secretly use the Internet connection, I wrote about this in the article.

So, let's clear the startup list and your computer will breathe in a new way! Of course, I turned off unnecessary programs from startup, but I still check it from time to time. It happens that garbage appears on this list again.

How do I remove programs that start when I turn on my computer?

As I promised, we will use the standard tool.

On Windows 7:"Start", "All programs", “Standard” we look for and run the “Run” utility.

On Windows XP:"Start", "Run".

In the window that appears, enter the command msconfig and click “Ok”.

A window will open in which we go to the tab. We look at the list and remove all programs that you do not need to autoload.

Be careful!

Don't uncheck the boxes for programs you don't know. If you want, you can type the name of the program from the list in a search, for example in Google, and see what kind of program it is. After checking, you can decide whether to disable it or not.

As you can see, my startup list is very modest. After you remove all unnecessary (uncheck), click "Apply" and "OK".

It happens that unnecessary programs may still be among the services. Therefore, in the window that we opened above, go to the "Services" tab. Immediately check the box next to "Hide Microsoft services"... And uncheck unnecessary services. Click “Apply” and “Ok” to save the result.

A message will appear, you can exit without restarting, or restart your computer.

If you have disabled a decent amount of programs and services, then after restarting you will see how much faster your computer will turn on and work. I hope that my advice will be useful to you and you will use it, since the effect of it is very good. Good luck!

How to remove programs from startup (autorun)? Speed up computer boot updated: February 7, 2018 by the author: admin

When turning on the computer, the user starts only the operating system. All other actions are performed independently in the graphical interface. Depending on the problem being solved, a certain set of programs is launched. Moreover, each user has those that will be opened without fail. Someone first of all launches an email client, someone opens social networks in a browser. Not everyone knows that these routine operations can be automated by configuring autostart programs.

A clean OS will automatically start only system services. When installing programs, most users do not pay attention to the initial settings. As a result, after some time the computer turns into a “zoo”. Several browsers "live" in it at the same time, clients of various cloud storages, optimization and file upload utilities start independently. Thus, from a useful tool, startup turns into an “enemy” of the user, slowing down the operation of the operating system.

Windows 7

In versions of Windows with a traditional Start menu, the Startup folder can be found in the general list of installed programs. At this point, it is a rendered shortcut for quick access.

In fact, the folder is located in a hidden area of user files. Direct access to it can be obtained by calling the context menu. The items marked with frames will open the directory of a specific user in the "Explorer", and those indicated by the arrows will open the system-wide one.

In order not to look for where the startup is located in Windows 7, you can use the universal command in the Run menu. Enter "shell: startup" into the text box. Clicking on the "OK" button opens "Explorer".

At the top of the window, we see the full path to the required directory. By default, AppData does not appear in File Explorer. Therefore, if we simply open the user's folder, we will not find it until we turn on the display of hidden files.

You can go to the Windows 7 startup in this way, but you cannot fully edit it. The disadvantage of this method is that most programs that have an automation option in the settings will not be visible here. You can edit the autorun list in the configuration utility. Let's start the Run menu and type the command shown in the screenshot in the text field.

In the configuration utility window, go to the "Startup" tab. Here we see a general list of programs, the behavior of which can be controlled using the checkboxes indicated by the arrow. By removing them, we exclude automatic start. The changes made must first be applied by clicking on the appropriate button. The "Location" column highlighted in green contains the startup path for each program and we will need it later.

When we finish working with the configuration utility, we will receive a system notification. You can choose between immediate or delayed reboot.

The next way to open startup programs on Windows 7 requires intervention in the system registry. Once again we use the "Run" menu.

With the registry editor open, recall the green field in the configuration utility. There, the full paths are indicated where the autorun settings for specific programs are located. The AIMP player was registered exactly according to the path indicated by the frame on the screenshot. To cancel automatic start for it, the key indicated by the arrow must be deleted.

So, we looked at several ways to find and clean startup in Windows 7. The most versatile is the use of the configuration utility. Only in it all the necessary data and tools are collected in one place.

Windows 10

It has become a good tradition for Microsoft to surprise users of its OS. Changes are not only external, like the disappeared Start button in Windows 8. The system is changing significantly internally. We just found a universal way to clean up startup programs. We apply it in Windows 10 and see the picture shown in the screenshot. There is a configuration utility, there is a tab on it too, and the control menu has "moved". Thanks to the company's engineers who pointed out where the startup in Windows 10 is, rather than forcing users to search for it on their own. Click on the hyperlink indicated by the arrow.

In the task manager, go to the designated tab of the same name. You can disable auto-start of programs in Windows 10 right in it. To do this, it is now enough to call the context menu. The required item is shown in the screenshot.

This concludes the changes Microsoft made to the automation setup. Management has been moved to the task manager, it has become more convenient and does not require knowledge of special commands. The rest of the considered possibilities are preserved. You can still remove startup programs in Windows 10 by opening the user's hidden folder or by editing the registry.

Configuring autorun

In a well-tuned system, nothing should be started without the user's knowledge that is not required in the first five minutes. By cleaning the startup from unnecessary "garbage" and being guided by this rule, you can configure the startup of programs that are needed in the first place.

Autorun software

We open the settings of the selected software and look for the item responsible for integration with the operating system. If the developer has provided for such an opportunity, you just need to use it. Let's take the popular AIMP player as an example.

The required parameter is present here. Therefore, we can add it to Windows 10 startup by ticking the box indicated by the arrow.

Software without autorun

If the parameter we need is not in the settings, we proceed as follows. Find the program using search. We call the context menu and go to the location of the file.

In the "Explorer" window, select the icon of the desired program. We open the context and drop-down menus for it in succession. In the second, we get to the item that creates a shortcut to the program on the desktop.

Let's use the "shell: startup" command to launch an additional "Explorer" window. To add an application to startup, transfer the created shortcut to an open directory. Now in the task manager we will find both applications added in different ways.

Using the described method, you can add a program to autorun regardless of whether the developers provided such an opportunity or not. Windows 10 is a "capricious" system, after updating an application to a new version, it may refuse to recognize old shortcuts. In this case, the operation will have to be repeated by sending the updated file to startup.

Task Manager

Using the scheduler, you can organize the forced launch of programs on a schedule. Open the wizard for creating simple tasks and follow its instructions.

As an example, let's schedule the regular start of the music player. So that you can later find the created task, give it a name.

We choose to start at the entrance to the OS.

By default, the scheduler prompts you to create a task to run the program.

We use the "Browse" button to specify the path to the executable file.

The task is created, and the system gives us an overview window with the specified characteristics.

After completing the wizard, you can edit the trigger by specifying additional conditions.

For example, activate a due date. Using the designated area, we indicate the start and end date values for our task.

Notebook owners should pay attention to the "Conditions" tab. In order for the task to be performed in any case, and not only when connected to the mains, uncheck both checkboxes in the area indicated by the frame.

The result of the performed manipulations will be the automatic launch of the player every time you enter the OS. At the same time, it is impossible to remove the program from startup using the methods discussed above. It will not appear in the task manager. To cancel a task, it must be removed from the scheduler.

Finally

Automatic launch of programs is a useful tool that saves you from performing routine actions. However, he will work “for the good” of the PC owner only if he is wisely approached. If the installation of programs is carried out according to the principle "the computer itself asked", the system will quickly turn into a "zoo", and autoloading will cause "brakes" and the main enemy of the user.

Sooner or later, users wonder what autostart is (in English - StartUp) programs, how to set it up for Windows 10 and what it does. Let's start with the terminology - these are programs and utilities that are automatically launched when you enter the OS, as among them there are necessary software tools, but there are those that consume resources and slow down the computer. We will tell you in more detail how to optimize your PC and change the startup settings for programs in windows 10.

General cleaning StartUp!

Optimizing autorun is an important and rather painstaking process, here is a small list of what should be left and what should be removed:

  • various torrent clients;
  • internet messengers (icq, agent, skype, qip, etc.);
  • audio players - you can turn on the music yourself.

Disable unused Windows "Services", for this we go:

For inexperienced users:

  • right click "Start" → "Control Panel" → "Administrative Tools" → "Services"

For advanced:

  • + [r] → "services.msc" → OK.

If you use, then accordingly leave the parameter unchanged and a small comment, where the word “service” will appear in the name - “c.” Will appear in our list, and Windows will be replaced with w.

  • Windows Search - built-in search;
  • Biometric p. w .;
  • firewall w. - if there is no installed antivirus, it is not advisable to leave without PC protection;
  • with. Hyper-V Remote Desktop Virtualization and all related services;
  • secondary login to the system;
  • with. geographic location;
  • with. client licenses (ClipSVC);
  • with. AllJoyn router
  • with. shared access to ports Net.Tcp;
  • with. enumeration of portable devices;
  • with. enumerator of portable devices;
  • with. Bluetooth support;
  • with. Program Compatibility Assistant;
  • with. error logging w .;
  • server;
  • network with. Xbox Live;
  • with. BitLocker Drive Encryption
  • with. loading images w. (WIA);
  • remote registry;
  • application identity;
  • Fax.

Configuring autostart programs in window’s 10 OS is mandatory, it was said about disabling and uninstalling above, and now what should be left, and if not, enable it, and what can be - but does not belong to the category of important - in one word - editing autorun.

Important and useful ones include:

  • firewalls;
  • utilities from the developers of your hardware;
  • drivers and utilities for usb, additional monitors and office equipment.

In such a simple and analytical way, you can clean the startup on your window’s 10, then how else to free up resources.

What else does StartUp store?

It is important in windows 10 to correctly configure autorun and further maintain its work in proper condition, let's see how to do this. Let's take a look at what applications are currently using startup, go to the "Task Manager" in any convenient way:

  • ++ - using hotkeys
  • Right-click "Start" → "Task Manager"

When you execute any of the above commands, a dialog box opens, then go to the "Startup" tab

A list of programs and utilities that are launched automatically at system startup will open, we can perform the following manipulations by calling the context menu by clicking the right mouse button (hereinafter RMB):

  • "Disable" - the next time you start the OS will be gone;
  • "Open˽location˽file" - the directory in which the executable file is located will be called;

  • "Properties" - a standard window with detailed information is displayed;
  • "Search on the Internet" - will help if you do not know the software and do not even understand where it came from.

Autorun issues

There are situations of reverse cleaning and optimization - these include cases when autoload does not work in the tenth Windows. There may be several reasons, and briefly, about their solution, since in windows 10, however, as in other earlier versions - startup management occurs in the registry and services, then you should look for errors there.

  • The service responsible for starting - can be disabled, respectively, we check and start.
  • The parameter is missing in the registry, below for more details on how to add.
  • Critical errors after the update - roll back and try to run the update again.

Due to the specifics of work activities, sometimes it is required to auto-run a certain program in the window's 10 operating system, how to do this? Using:

  1. Registry.
  2. Operating system graphical interface.
  3. Using third-party programs such as: AutoRuns, CCleaner, Ashampoo WinOptimizer Free, PC Booster, etc.

You can find out more on our website about that.
