How to secure your finances by setting a password for your Yandex browser. How to set a personal password and manage autocomplete in a Yandex browser

Modern browsers allow you to save passwords that the user enters on various sites. This function is very convenient because allows you not to waste time memorizing and entering a password when visiting a page.

On the other side passwords saved in the browser can be accessed by other users... Therefore, when using this feature of browsers, you should consider the security of your data. Even if you do not save passwords in your browser, you may just want to protect your browser settings, saved bookmarks, browsing history, etc. from unauthorized people.

Let's take a look at how to protect your personal information using the Google Chrome browser as an example.

How to view saved passwords in Google Chrome

The passwords saved by Chrome can be viewed through the browser settings. To do this, in the browser menu, select the "Settings" item, then at the very bottom of the page, click on the "Show advanced settings" item. In the "Passwords and Forms" section, click on the "Password Management" link.

After completing these steps, a window should open with a list of sites for which passwords have been saved. In this case, the passwords themselves are hidden. When you select a line, next to the hidden password, the "Show" button appears, when you click on it, the password should be displayed.

Google Chrome doesn't have the option to set a master password to protect all stored passwords, but modern browser versions include a different feature to secure previously entered passwords. It's called "Password Manager Reauthentication".

If this feature is enabled, then when you click on the "Show" button to display the hidden password, the System Account Manager will be called. And only after the user enters the password for his Windows account (this function is also available for Mac users), the hidden password will be displayed.

If the Account Manager does not load when you click the button, then, most likely, the "Password Manager Reauthentication" function is disabled for you. To enable it, follow these steps:

  1. Check if you have the latest version of Google Chrome and update if necessary.
  2. Launch your browser and in the address bar enter chrome: // flags to go to the function page.
  3. Find the item " Disable password manager re-authentication"And set it to" Enable ".
  4. Restart Chrome to save your changes.

For this function to work, the system user must have a password set.

Lock Google Chrome with a password

To prevent unauthorized access to your browser, you can set a password for it. Newer versions of Chrome include a feature that lets you block browser settings associated with your Google account. This is a very handy feature that allows you to block access to your personal data, such as bookmarks, extensions, browsing history, saved passwords, etc.

In order to use this function, you need to do the following:

  1. In the address bar of your browser, type chrome: // flags and go to the list of functions.
  2. Find the item " Enable new profile management system”And set the value to“ Enabled ”.
  3. Restart Chrome to apply changes.

After restarting the browser, you will see a button with the name of the current user in the upper right corner. If you haven't signed in to Chrome, the button will display the word "You." To use the lock function, you must be sure to sign in to Chrome with your Google account.

After logging into an account, to lock the browser, just click on the button with the account name at the top and then click on the padlock icon.

Now, when you launch Chrome, a window will appear asking you to enter the password associated with a specific account. Also, when setting these settings, it is possible to log into Chrome with a guest account. This will load a new profile with default settings.

In the current version of Chrome, the process of blocking the browser using the profile manager has changed slightly. Now, in order for the profile blocking function to be available, you must first log into your Google account and then create at least one controlled user (Settings -> "People" section -> Add user).

In this case, when creating a user, be sure to check the box, as shown in the figure above.

Now, after clicking on the button with the account name, you will see that a new item "Sign out and block" has been added there. Use it to block your account.

Setting a password using a Chrome extension

The disadvantage of the previous method is that the lock must be set manually each time. If you want Chrome to lock itself automatically after each session ends, then the LockWP extension will help you with this. When using this extension, the browser will ask for a password every time it starts. Follow these steps to install and use the LockWP extension on Google Chrome:

  1. Download and install the LockWP extension.
  2. After the installation is complete, the extension should automatically open the settings window. If this does not happen, open the settings manually through the browser menu -> Settings -> Extensions -> LockWP settings.
  3. In the extension settings, check the "Allow use in incognito mode" box.
  4. Next, a window will open with instructions, following which you can set a password, enable safe mode, limit the number of login attempts, etc.

After completing all the settings, Chrome will require a password every time you start it. If the user tries to close the password window or wants to switch to another tab, the browser will automatically close.

Using the LockWP extension, you can also lock your browser while you work without closing it. To do this, just right-click on the current Chrome page and select "LockWP" from the context menu.

Browser is a program for connecting to the Internet. Your passwords, logins, addresses of visited pages and other confidential information can be stored in the browser cache. In order to hide this information from strangers, put a password on the Internet browser, restrict access to it. However, this feature is not supported in all browsers, and the process for setting a password is different for different programs.

For those who use the Google browser, you can set a password by installing the Browser Lock add-on. It is distributed free of charge, but the language will only be English. Install and run the utility, then select “Install”. Enter the password in the window that opens. In addition to the password, you can apply other settings: blocking time, background transparency, and others. Confirm the changes. Now, to enter the browser, you need to type the key combination Shift + Ctrl + L, then enter the password.

If you are using Internet Explorer, you can set a password using the browser itself. In the browser window, open the Tools menu. In the menu go to "Internet Options", in the next window open "Contents", in a new tab find "Access Restriction" and click "Enable". Set the password in the General window. To check the correctness of the settings, close the browser and log in again, if everything is correct, it will ask you to enter a password.

For those who have chosen the Mozilla Firefox browser, the “Password Wizard” will help you to set a password very simply. At the top left of the browser window, find the "Settings" menu. Then open the "Protection" tab. Check the box next to “Use password master”. A new window will open, enter the password in it and click “OK”.

To set a password in the Opera or Yandex browser, you will have to change the settings of these programs. Download special utilities for your browser and install them. For example, there is a free Exe Password utility for setting a password on the developer's website, which is compatible with each version of Windows. After installing it, right-click on the browser icon, a menu will open, and Password Protection should appear. Follow this link to the Set Password Wizard. Enter your password in the required fields and click “Finish”. Ready!

If you decide to restrict Internet access for your child, you can do this using antivirus software. For example, Kaspersky has a Parental Control service. It is also available in Windows 7. In addition, you can create multiple accounts on your computer and make different settings for each one individually.

Invented password can be accidentally lost and then deleting the browser is not enough to change the password. It is registered in the registry, and only cleaning the registry will help. You can set your password in any browser, but not everywhere this is done by means of the browser itself using the settings. Sometimes you will need to download and then install additional utilities.

Hello everyone, my dear friends and readers of my blog. Today I want to tell you how to put a password on the browser so that no one could enter it without your knowledge. Personally, I set myself this, but I know that many people want to protect their data from the eyes of people who can use your computer and the Internet at any time.

Since I mainly use Google Chrome, I will start with it, especially since this is done here as easy as shelling pears. Unfortunately, there is no built-in trick with setting a password to enter the browser, but Thank God the world is not without good people, and we will be able to compensate for the whole thing by installing an extension.

Or you can choose the number of incorrect attempts that you are given, and what will happen after these incorrect inputs (closing the browser, clearing history or switching to incognito mode). In general, take a look. Despite the fact that everything is in English, there should be no difficulties. Everything is intuitive.

Now let's close Google Chrome and enter it again. Look, we now have a window where you need to enter the cipher you invented earlier. And if we click on any place other than this window, then google chrome will automatically close.

If you suddenly do not understand something, then I suggest you watch a video on this topic specifically for google chrome.

Mozilla Firefox

For Mozilla Firefox, everything is also done by installing an add-on. Let's take a closer look.

Now testing! Exit Mozilla Firefox and go there again. As you can see, now we cannot just log into the browser until we enter the correct password.

Opera

Here we again have to resort to the help of the add-on. Well, I think that you are no longer used to it.

Everything! It remains only to leave the Opera and enter it again. You will see a window for entering a code combination, which will not allow you to advance anywhere until you enter the set code word.

Yandex browser

I will not say anything new here. To put a password on the Yandex browser, we again have to use the add-on. But we will not reinvent the wheel, so you can use exactly the same way as in the case of the Opera.

Other browsers

Of course, the four browsers I've described aren't the only ones people use. If you describe each of the existing ones, you will have to stay for a long time. But in I wrote about a universal solution for all browsers and other applications, and you don't have to use any add-ons. So use it to your health!

Well, on this I will finish my article. I hope that you liked it and was understandable for you. And if you still have not subscribed to updates to my blog, then I highly recommend that you do so. I look forward to seeing you again. Good luck to you. Bye Bye!

Best regards, Dmitry Kostin.

Quite often, you can observe a situation when one computer or laptop is used by different users. Each of them can have their own browser, customized according to their personal tastes and preferences. Because your browser contains a lot of personal data and information, you need to provide strong browser protection, which is best achieved by setting a password.

Password for Yandex browser - data security is above all!

This unusual security measure is rarely used by users due to the low level of awareness of this kind of capabilities. A classic browser with a standard list of functions is not able to provide the user with such protection, which means that you will have to use third-party software to achieve what you want.

To put a password on the Yandex browser, you may need:

  • A program that operates at the system level;
  • Chrome app;
  • Extension for the Yandex browser.

IMPORTANT! Yandex browser is developed on the basis of other web browsers, such as Opera and Chrome, therefore, it is compatible with add-ons intended for them.

Each of the presented methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, however, it is important to understand that all of them allow you to achieve what you want.

Blocking the Yandex Browser exe file

The most reliable option to prevent access to the browser from other users using this computer is to block the exe browser. Since the OS does not have such functionality, one of the special utilities should be used, for example, Free Exe Password.

ADVICE! This application is completely free and allows you to ensure an adequate level of file protection.

The process of using it is extremely simple. After successful installation, you will need to select the Select to Exe item and specify the location of the Browser, using which the program is launched. You can see it in the properties of the shortcut, in the Object section of the Shortcut tab. Having copied the address, you can configure the notification that will be displayed when you try to enter the password, as well as the code word itself. After saving the changes, you can enjoy the installed protection.

Working with extensions for setting a password on Yandex Browser

By installing a specialized add-on, like LockPW or Set password for browser, you can easily protect the program from access by third parties. First, you need to download and install them. The former is available exclusively in the Chrome app store, while the latter can be downloaded from.

In LockPW, you must, after which, press the button to lock the browser. For the protection to function, you need to come up with a strong password. Since it is rather difficult to do this on your own, it is better to use one of the many password generators, which will fully automate the creation of optimal codewords.

The second application is much easier to configure. Immediately after installation, it offers to specify the desired combination of characters as a password that will be requested at startup.

However, in the second case, there is a small problem that could compromise the security of the data. The fact is that the second extension does not work if the browser is running in the background and is not completely closed. To prevent unauthorized access to the program, you will need to select the Yandex icon in the tray, right-click and disable the permission to work in background mode in the pop-up menu.

Comparing both applications, it should be noted that the first option has a lot of settings and provides a noticeably higher level of security, while the second one is noticeably easier to configure.

Video to help

The Internet browser stores not only the addresses of visited sites and bookmarks. It remembers authorization data, page settings, search history for Yandex, Google, Mail. If several different people work with the computer, then they will be able to see this information. To close access to it, find out how to put a password on the browser?

This feature is available in the settings of some browsers. For many of them, add-ons have been developed that will protect confidential data. For example, there are free utilities for Chrome. You can also make a launch restriction for Opera, Yandex and UC Browser.

In Mozilla Firefox it is very easy to deny access. This can be done in the parameters.

  1. Go to the "Tools" menu, go to the "Settings" item. The "Protection" tab.
  2. Check the "Use Master Password" checkbox.
  3. Enter the desired cipher.
  4. If you have an old version of Firefox, then additionally check the "Prompt at startup" item in the "Startup" tab.

Now your browser cannot be opened by people who do not have the code. It is much more difficult to protect Opera, Chrome and Yandex. For them, you need to download separate utilities. Most of these add-ons are distributed free of charge.

Internet Explorer protection of different versions

Now let's figure out how to put a password on the IE browser.

  1. Open the menu Tools - Browser Options.
  2. Go to Contents.
  3. In the "Access Restriction" option, click "Enable".
  4. Open the "General" tab and click "Create password"

In recent versions of IE, this feature has been removed. You can set up family controls to allow only one account to use the program. It is easy to remove this limitation, so it is not enough for full protection.

But you don't need to download additional utilities, as is the case with the Yandex browser. You can open this menu in Internet Explorer 10 like this:

  1. Click Start - Run.
  2. Write in the input field "RunDll32.exe msrating.dll, RatingSetupUI" (without quotes). The same window will open - "Access Restriction". In the "General" tab you can set your parameters.

In Windows 8, this requires changing the settings in the Group Policy Editor.

  1. In the Run menu, enter the line "gpedit.msc" without the quotes. A window similar to an explorer will appear.
  2. Open the User Configuration folder. Go to Administrative Templates, then Windows Components - Internet Explorer - Control Panel - Contents tab.
  3. Double click on "Show Access Restriction Option".
  4. Place a marker next to the line "Enable" and apply the changes. The required option will appear in the browser properties.

This method will work with Windows 7 too.

Setting a password on Chrome

Some browsers don't have this feature at all. Opera, Google Chrome and Yandex cannot be protected through the parameters. To do this, you need to load special utilities.

Chrome can use the free LockPW add-on. After installation, specify in the settings whether to use the addon in incognito mode, click "Next" and you can set the access code.

There are many other extensions for protecting your browser. For example Browser Lock or Secure Profile.

In the case of Chrome, you don't have to put a password on the browser. Create a Google account and link it to your browser. Your data will be opened only after authorization in your Google account. This is a good method if you don't want to prevent family or friends from using the program.

Setting a password for UC Browser, Opera and Yandex

To set a password for Yandex Browser, UC Browser and Opera, download the Exe Password utility or Game Protector. With them, you can restrict access to any file, not just the browser. These programs have a clear interface and simple functionality.

  1. Install Exe Password.
  2. Right-click on the browser launch file (not on the shortcut, but on the file.exe).
  3. In the drop-down menu, select "Password Protection". Enter the desired code and click "Finish".

You can do the same in Game Protector:

  1. Run the program.
  2. In the upper field, set the path to the startup file.
  3. In the "Password" field, write the code. It must be entered twice in order not to be mistaken.
  4. Click the "Protect" button.

Unfortunately, the addon developers have not yet figured out how to put a password for Opera, UC Browser or Yandex without using third-party programs.

This protection of the browser is a necessary measure if several people use the computer. Only you should have access to your personal data.
