How to add a tab to favorites on an iPhone. What to do if bookmarks in the Safari browser are missing in iOS

The standard Safari browser of the iOS 7 operating system allows you to place your favorite bookmarks on the iPhone or iPad desktops in the form of shortcuts similar to those that can be seen in built-in or third-party applications of the platform. This allows quick access to the most popular user sites, which are visited several times a day. Such shortcuts can be organized in exactly the same way as any other - they can be grouped into separate folders or in any other way, which can be very convenient.

1. Go to the Safari application of the iOS 7 operating system:

2. Using the address bar or bookmarks bar, go to the site that needs to be saved on one of the device’s desktops as a shortcut:

3. Go to the action menu with an open Internet page - it is a square with an arrow flying up from it:

4. Select the option “To Home Screen” - this is the function that will allow you to save a bookmark to the site on your desktop:

5. Enter the desired name of the shortcut and confirm your intentions with the “Add” button:

A bookmark shortcut will appear on the home screen of the user's iPhone or iPad to access a specific site on the Internet:

Thus, using shortcuts to bookmarks of the most frequently visited Internet pages, you can organize easy and quick access to them with just a couple of taps on the screen of your iPhone or iPad on iOS 7.

Many modern browsers use a “visual bookmarks” mode, when a panel with some sites selected by the user is displayed on a blank page. A similar feature has existed in the Safari web browser for quite some time. Today we want to walk you through the process of adding a resource to your Favorites in this app for macOS and iOS.

Adding a site to your favorites list is quite simple in both the desktop and mobile versions of the program. Let's consider both options separately.

macOS

iOS

In the mobile version of Apple's browser, adding to favorites occurs as follows:

  1. Open the site you want to add to your Favorites. On the toolbar below, find the button marked in the screenshot and tap on it.
  2. Select an option "Add bookmark".

Next, tap on the line "Favorites".
  3. To view "The Chosen One" Open the bookmarks access button on the toolbar.

    Then select the appropriate tab.
  4. To remove a resource from "The Chosen One" tap the three-bar item on the right and swipe left. Then use the button "Delete".
  5. As you can see, it’s also nothing complicated.

Conclusion

We looked at the method of adding a site to "Favorites" Safari browser in versions for macOS and iOS. This operation is considered elementary, so even inexperienced users should not have problems performing it.

Safari is Apple's web browser and is the default web browser for macOS and iOS. Below I will tell you how to use it on your iPhone or iPad, as well as how to configure some of its settings.

The browser allows you to work with several pages at once, open them in private mode, save and access page bookmarks, save sites to a reading list for offline viewing, change the default search engine, enable or disable search engines, use automatic completion of fields on the web -forms and check your privacy and security.

Let's take a look at Safari's settings to learn how to best use and customize the mobile browser.

Open Safari

First, let's check out what you can do in the app itself. Open Safari and go to any web page. Swipe down to get to the very top of the page.

Open a new tab

Click on the sign «+» to open a new tab and go to another site. Thus, you can open a large number of sites. Click on the tab to go to the desired site, and then on the icon "X", if you want to close it.

View all tabs

Click on the icon with two squares to see all open tabs on one screen. Click "X" on any tab you want to close. These pages will disappear from the screen.

Private browsing

Click on the two squares again and select "Private" to open the site in private browsing mode. In private mode, Safari won't track the sites you visit, your search history, or the autofill data you type on web pages.

Bookmarks page

Change bookmark

If you wish, you can change the name of the bookmark. Click "Save" to save it.

View bookmarks

To view your bookmarks, tap “Bookmarks” in the form of an open book.

View history

On the menu "Bookmarks" you can also access your browsing history list. Click the icon "Watch" to see the pages you've recently accessed. Click on the icon "Bookmarks" to close the menu.

Read offline

The first time you do this, Safari will ask if you want to automatically save articles for offline reading. Click Save Automatically.

Access to reading list

To access any pages of your reading list online or offline, click the icon "Bookmarks" and tap the glasses icon. Go to the page you want to read. By default, this page will disappear from your reading list after you read it. To view all pages, including those you have already read, click "Show All" at the bottom of the menu "Bookmarks".

Safari Settings

Now let's look at the settings you can configure for Safari. Open "Settings" - "Safari". First parameter “Allow Safari to Access” Allows information from Safari to be displayed in functions "Search, "Find" and on the keyboard. Keep it on.

Default search engine

In the search settings, you can change the default search engine to Google, Yahoo, Bing or DuckDuckGo.

Don't turn off other options, as they may offer suggestions and other search assistance. Click on the link About Search & Privacy to learn more about these settings.

Autofill options

In chapter "General" click on option "AutoFill". Here you can choose what information will be automatically filled in on sites. For example, your contact information, names and passwords, or credit card information.

You can tell Safari to track frequently visited sites, allow access to favorite sites when performing a search or creating a new tab, open new tabs in the background, show the bar "Favorites", as well as the tab bar and pop-up blocker.

Privacy and Security

Go to section Privacy & Security. The best thing to do here is to enable all settings except "Block All Cookies" for sites that you directly visit. To learn more about these settings, click on the link About Safari & Privacy.

Clear cookies and other data

If you want to delete cookies, history list and other data stored in Safari, click “Clear History and Website Data”. Then click "Clear" in a pop-up window.

If you want all items saved in Reading List, were available offline, make sure the option is enabled Automatically Save Offline.

Accumulated data

Go to section "Add-ons" (Advanced). On the screen that opens, click "Website Data". Wait a minute or two for the information to appear. You'll see all the websites for which Safari stores cookies, history, and other data.

Deleting site data

To delete data for a specific site, swipe left on it and tap delete (or just swipe left).

Deleting cache

You can click the link "Show All Sites" (Show All Sites) to see the rest of the sites. To delete data for all sites, go to the bottom of the screen and click Remove All Website Data. Click "Delete" in response to a popup message.

Web Development Features

Return to screen "Extras". Turn on the menu "JavaScript" so that you can fully access sites that use JavaScript code. Finally you can leave "Web-Inspector" disabled if you don't need it for web development.

Editing your list of bookmarks is very easy - you can remove those bookmarks from Favorites that are no longer such, create new folders, change the order of items in the list, rename a folder or bookmark, etc.

The procedure for editing bookmarked folders and the folders themselves is the same, except for the first step. To edit the folder list, first open the bookmark list (click the book button), then click Edit .

To edit the bookmarks themselves, press the same button, select a folder, and then press Edit . Now you can:

  • Delete something. Click the button next to the folder or bookmark, and then click Delete to confirm the command.
  • Reorganize the list. Drag the grab bars up or down the list to move folders or bookmarks up or down. The top three bookmarks - History, Bookmarks Bar and Bookmarks Menu - cannot be moved or deleted.
  • Change names or locations. Click on the name of the folder or bookmark. If you select a folder, you will be presented with the Edit Folder page, which allows you to edit the name of the folder and change the folder it is located within. If you select a bookmark, you will be presented with the Edit Bookmark page, which allows you to edit the name of the bookmark and the address to which it points. When you're done, click the Back button in the top left corner.
  • Create a folder. Click the New Folder button in the lower right corner of the Edit Folders page. There you can give it a name and choose the location where you would like to place it (that is, in some other folder).

When finished, click Done.

A simple example demonstrates the convenience of this tool for working with bookmarks. Suppose you found the site http://www.pradam.com, in which clothing from the manufacturer is presented wholesale in the form of a catalog. You bookmark the site. Instead of a long title specified inside the tag title, which the browser will automatically enter as a bookmark name, you can set a simple name, for example “jeans”.
