Engineering menu android kit cat. Alternative way to enter the engineering menu

Not many people know about the existence of a menu with advanced device settings in the Android OS - engineering menu . And someone knows, but does not know how to enter it and what to do with it.
In this article, we will show how to enter the engineering menu and some of its features.

You can enter the engineering menu simply by typing a special command (but I must add that this method does not work on all versions of Android and not on all devices)

The command to enter the engineering menu: *#*#3646633#*#*

Also, on some versions of Android, the command may work *#15963#* and*#*#4636#*#*

Immediately after entering, the command should disappear and the engineering menu will open. But on some devices, you still need to press the "Call" key

If this method does not work, you can use the alternative!

And it consists in installing the program (which, by the way, is freely available on Google Play) " Mobileuncle MTK Tools 2.4.0"

This program will open access to the engineering menu (that is, it will work similarly to a set of combinations*#*#3646633#*#*)

There are a lot of settings! The scope for experimentation is huge! You can debug and adjust almost EVERYTHING!

For clarity, let's briefly analyze the volume setting of the device:

We go into the program ---> select the section "Engineer Mode"

Because we are interested in setting the sound level, select ---> "Audio"

And voila, the menu of interest to us opens.

Max Vol - the same for the entire subsection, as a rule, it is set to 150 (you can change 0-160 - it changes if you select the Media item in the subsection).

If in some submenu, for example, Audio - Normal - Sph, the overall level is not available for adjustment, then enter another submenu, for example, Audio - Normal - Media - there you will be able to adjust the overall volume level.

Sub-points:
Sph - volume levels during a telephone conversation,
Mic - microphone sensitivity levels,
Ring - call volume,
Media - volume when playing music, movies, games.

Ring volume levels are set in Audio - LoudSpeaker - Ring
MaxVol=150
Levels: 120 130 145 160 180 200 (more starts wheezing)

Conversation volume levels in the phone speaker in Audio - Normal - Sph
MaxVol=150
Levels: 100 120 130 135 140 145 150

Microphone speaking volume levels in Audio - Normal - Mic
Levels: 100 172 172 172 172 172 172

Media volume levels are set in Audio - LoudSpeaker - Media

Levels: 110 130 160 190 210 230 250

All the same can be configured for the Headphone mode, by analogy:

Speaker volume levels are set in Audio - LoudSpeaker - Sph
Max Vol = 150 (it is the same for the entire section)
Levels: 80 100 110 120 130 140 150 (more starts wheezing)

Now all volumes are regulated in adequate ranges.
If you are not satisfied with the volume levels, you can set your own values (the larger the value, the greater the volume when adjusting the volume keys, or the greater the microphone sensitivity)

By analogy, you can customize most sections! Experiment!

The engineering menu is implemented and used by Android smartphone manufacturers to test and configure various functions. This menu is hidden in the shell of the operating system and is called only by a special USSD command, or through third-party applications. On this page I will post information on how to enter the engineering menu and what data is available to change for a smartphone user.

What is the engineering menu in android?

Engineering menu (Engineering Mode) is a hidden program in every Android device that allows you to manage your gadget's settings. At its core, it resembles the main data center in a smartphone. With its help, manufacturers, developers check the operation of hardware and sensors, make adjustments.

Warning! Using the engineering menu, be careful when making changes. Careless and careless actions can lead to malfunctions of the smartphone.

How to enter the engineering menu?

To open it, launch the Phone application, go to the dialer and use one of the USSD commands shown in the table below. Upon completion of the set of numbers and symbols, the desired menu will open.

Important! The menu does not work on all Android smartphones! In most cases, these are devices with Android 4.2, smartphones based on Android 5.1. Access to the engineering menu in the Cyanogen Mod firmware is completely closed. Also, on many devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon, Intel or Tegra processors, access to the menu via the USSD command is closed.

USSD command table

The most common login code is *#*#3646633#*#*. Also, in the table you will find other teams of popular manufacturers: Samsung, Xiaomi, Meizu, Sony, ZTE, HTC, LG, Huawei, Lenovo and others.

Advice! For some smartphones on Android version 4.4.2, the changes made in the engineering menu are reset after a reboot.

Alternatively, for Qualcomm Snapdragon processor devices, an entry is available, which is opened by repeatedly clicking on "Build Number".

Third Party Application

For devices with MediaTek processors, you can use third-party applications, which are full in the play market. For example . But on gadgets with other processors, the application will not work!

Also, some devices will not respond to changes or save settings made by the program until they are.

What can be learned and adjusted?

Here you can find useful information, test the parameters of the smartphone and change, configure the device's functions.

You can see:

  1. - an identifier that is present in each gadget.

Restore settings

Now let's figure out how to restore settings through the Android 4 engineering menu. This can be done in several ways:

  1. The first is to hold down a specific key combination. Here again it is necessary to repeat - that from manufacturer to manufacturer, the combination that needs to be clamped can be different. There select “Backup” or “Wipe”. The first one is recovery. Only for such an operation you need a memory card with a saved copy of the firmware on it. Second - resets all settings and options to factory defaults.
  2. The second option is to use "Mobile Uncle". You need to go to the main menu and select "Reboot to Recovery Mode". After that, a panel will become available where you can select the desired item. To restore, as in the first case, click on “Backup”.

findings

It becomes clear that the Android 4 engineering menu can be used not only to adjust the volume. This is a serious tool that can often revive a device that does not show signs of life. Also, this toolkit can be useful for developers of games and applications for the platform, with the help of it, they have the opportunity to test certain functions that were previously limited.

Android smartphone manufacturers implement and use the engineering menu to test devices. It contains all kinds of tests and device settings that are not available to ordinary users. However, today, knowing the USSD command or downloading the application from PlayMarket, anyone can enter the engineering menu.

Battery: disable unused frequencies

Smartphones quickly use up battery life for running applications, maintaining cellular communications and network connections. Using the engineering menu, you can increase the battery life.

Modern devices scan several GSM frequencies - 900/1800 MHz and 850/1900 MHz. In Russia, a pair of 900/1800 MHz operates, which means that there is no need to scan the network at other frequencies. The radio signal for the second pair can be turned off, which will significantly save the charge level.

In Engineer Mode, open the Band Mode item. Disable unused frequencies by unchecking the corresponding items - PCS1900 and GSM850. If the device supports two SIM cards, open SIM1 and SIM2 in turn and follow the steps in each. Press the SET button to save the settings.

Disabled frequencies save battery power

If your smartphone and SIM card work in 3G networks, disable networks that are not used in Russia: WCDMA-PCS 1900, WCDMA-800, WCDMA-CLR-850. Press the SET button again.

You can enable scanning of disabled networks by returning to the same menu and checking the boxes.

Camera: photo and video settings

By default, Android devices save pictures in JPEG format. Meanwhile, photographers tend to shoot and process their footage in RAW for more editing options. The technical menu allows you to select the desired image format.

Find Camera in the menu and select Capture Type. Set the photo format to RAW and press SET. Also in the Camera menu, you can increase the size of pictures, set the ISO value, enable shooting in HDR for higher photo detail, and set the frame rate for video. After changing each parameter, remember to press SET to save the settings.

recovery mode

Recovery Mode (Recovery Mode) - an analogue of Bios on a computer, allows you to manage the device without logging into the Android system. Recovery Mode Features:

  • resetting the settings to standard;
  • firmware update;
  • access to root rights;
  • creating a backup copy of the OS;
  • removal of personal data from the system.

In Recovery Mode, do not perform an action if you are not sure what it will lead to. Some commands can harm the device and the system.

If the settings are not saved

Users who have access to the technical menu complain that the parameters changed in it are not activated or are reset when the device is restarted.

To activate the settings after changing the parameters, tap on the SET button at the bottom of the screen. If the parameters are reset after the device is rebooted, try entering the technical menu not through the application, but using a digital command.

After setting the settings, do not forget to press the SET button

Service codes for Android devices

In addition to the technical menu, secret USSD codes allow you to control the functionality of Android smartphones - combinations of numbers and symbols, by typing which the user performs an action. Secret codes for different devices are shown in the table.

Not all mobile devices reproduce the sound equally loudly - for some, the ringing sound of the call is too quiet, while for others, the sound switched to the headphones exceeds all permissible limits. How to cope with this imbalance, and equalize the sound? Can this be done without visiting a service center? Let's figure it out.

Any gadgets on the Android OS have such a flexible control system that they can be changed beyond recognition - customized, thereby opening the widest range of hidden features, and customizing any functionality of the system, including sounds. Not all basic assemblies are perfect, sometimes the sound reproduction of the device's speakers does not work correctly - in some applications it can reach the maximum value, while in others it is barely audible. You can adjust the speakers in a variety of ways - both standard and using the menu of special settings or applications.

All devices have a standard key for volume control - usually it is located on the side panel. By clicking on it, you can set the desired parameter. But if this does not suit you, then you can do it from the main settings menu. Here you can make settings for any application, set a ringtone for a particular contact.

To change the default sound, you need to do this:

  1. Open the main settings menu and go to the section "Melodies and Sound";
  2. In the right corner, click on the gear icon - you will find yourself in the desired settings section;
  3. Set the desired sound settings.

This will result in the same pitch for all apps and calls. But if you need to change specific values, for example, for incoming voice calls or messages, then you need to do this in the "Sound Profile" section in each of the necessary applications.

Through the functionality of the engineering menu

This method is suitable for advanced users who, in case of failure, will be able to return all the standard settings back. But! Each model has its own commands to call this special settings menu:

  • For Samsung models: *#*#8255#*#* or *#*#4636#*#* ;
  • For gadgets from NTS: *#*#3424#*#* or *#*#4636#*#* or *#*#8255#*#* ;
  • Combination for Sony devices: *#*#7378423#*#*
  • For devices manufactured by Fly, Alcatel, Philips: *#*#3646633#*#* ;
  • And for gadgets from the manufacturer Huawei, the combination will be: *#*#2846579#*#* ;
  • For MTK devices: *#*#54298#*#* or *#*#3646633#*#* .

After dialing and pressing the dialer button, you get to the engineering menu, where you can adjust the desired parameters.

There are other parameters, but it is better not to touch them at all:

  • Debug Info - system information about possible debugging;
  • Speech Logger - settings for recording conversations, if you activate this position, then in the root folder you can find a file like this: Wed_Jun_2014__07_02_23.vm, indicating the date and time of recording;
  • Audio logger - responsible for finding recorded conversations.

Each of these modes has its own subtle settings, and in order to understand what's what, here is a standard list of Type sound adjustments:

  • Sip - allows you to adjust calls, for example, via Skype;
  • The Mic button is responsible for adjusting the microphone's response;
  • Sph - will allow you to set the desired parameter for the dynamics of conversations, that is, the one that is brought to the ear;
  • Sph2 - this parameter is not available on all devices, but if it is, then it can be used to configure the second conversational speaker;
  • Sid - it is better not to touch this line - otherwise, during a conversation, you can hear only yourself, and not the interlocutor;
  • Media - this is the adjustment of the sound of multimedia files, such as video;
  • Ring - the ability to set the desired volume level for incoming calls;
  • FMR - Responsible for the pitch in the Radio application.

There are several settings to set the desired sound - from level 0 to level 6. With each press, the level increases, and in order to save the set value, it is erased from the cell and a new one is written, which you see during setup. But! Observe the range: it can be between 0 and 255, and the lower the number, the lower the sound will be played. After making changes, press the Set button - it is located on the same line with the cell being changed, and exit the setting by pressing the dial button.

Tips: before changing the default settings, write down all the values on a piece of paper - this can come in handy if you overdo it and set the wrong parameter, for example, playing sounds too low.

Examples

For many users, when recording a video, the sound turns out to be incorrect, that is, either too quiet or loud. To fix this, go to the engineering menu by typing a command for your smartphone (see above):

  1. Go to the LoudSpeaker Mode line (loudspeaker setting);
  2. Set the microphone sensitivity to mic .
  3. Here you can set in the level item, for example, the value 240 . Save the changes with the Set button and exit the menu. You should press this button after each change, do not forget about it!

Using special software

If you don’t want to bother with fine-tuning the device, then you can use special applications. You can find a lot of them both in the Google store and on the Internet. Remarkably, the soundtrack can be increased by about a third, and the speakers will work absolutely fine, without wheezing and tears.

Utilities are recognized as the most popular, and it is best suited for tuning low frequencies.

But the Android OS version must be higher than 2.3, otherwise they will not be able to perform their functions.

Everything is very simple, the software works according to the same principle - an equalizer appears on the screen, where you can make the desired sound settings.

Now you know how to increase the volume on Android or, if necessary, adjust the sound and speaker sensitivity.
