Since along with Xiaomi Mi Alarm Clock there was an instruction only in Chinese, I tried to figure it out on my own. And I will say right away that the decision of the engineers to make the washer the only governing body, I consider very dubious and little functional. But first things first.
The Xiaomi Mi Alarm Clock is turned on by long pressing the control puck. After 3 seconds pleasant female voice in Chinese, it says the device has turned on. The LED numbers for hours and minute dots can be seen immediately through the fabric. Turn off by holding the washer for 5 seconds.

As you might have guessed, the device is powered exclusively from the network. Therefore, it is positioned as a home multimedia system rather than a portable speaker. The "brain" of the device is the Amlogic 8726M3 Cortex A9 chip. Distinctive feature this device is the playback of a huge number of all kinds of radio stations over WiFi. But in fact, this feature is relevant only for the Chinese themselves, tk. 99% of the streams available are streamed directly from China. Among all this horde of incomprehensible chatter, stations with foreign pop music sometimes slip through, but it is extremely difficult to find them. The blessing in branded application it is possible to create your own playlists with your music and transfer them to the speaker. I will tell you more about this and other possibilities now.
While turning on the speaker, a Chinese girl mutters something. At initial setup I thought that the column is controlled from the Mi Home application. After downloading it and adding the device, at 90% of the synchronization, the process was always interrupted. After the nth number of samples and resetting the column to the factory ones, Mi Home stopped finding the device altogether. Well, to hell with him. As it turned out later, this application simply duplicates the remote control. There are no more settings there. Therefore, it does not matter. 
Then I realized that the box and the instructions indicate not the usual Mi Home at all, but a certain Mi Speaker. Looking ahead, I will say that the application is rather crooked, does not correspond to the design canons and often crashes. We scan the QR code and we are transferred to a Chinese site with a download link. The column was immediately found without any problems and the firmware update began. 
Then, if you wish, we log into our Mi account and connect the column to WiFi. I connected to the 5GHz network without any problems. The user is then greeted with a three-page useless Chinese greeting. A Russian version is available on w3bsit3-dns.com, but on my and some other phones, judging by the reviews from the same w3bsit3-dns.com, it does not work. 
That's it, the application is ready to go. In the "Smart device" section, you can probably combine the column with the rest of the "smart" devices. In the absence of these on this screen nothing is displayed. In "Switch devices" you switch between speakers. And in the "Upgrade" section there is a firmware update. 
In the settings there is a huge variety of parameters related to playback and library. 
A five-band equalizer and four presets are available. 
With the alarm clock, I have not grown together. I installed it five times on different time and five times it didn't work. The opinion creeps in that he lives according to Chinese time. Disconnected it from sin away, so that inadvertently at night it would not start ringing. 
Library. As I wrote earlier, a huge number of unnecessary Chinese radio stations and playlists are available out of the box. Among them, I found only two playlists with famous foreign songs. On one of them, the quality is somewhere at the level of 128 kbps. Exactly the same situation can be traced in the Chinese streams. There is such a garbage quality that blood begins to bleed from the ears. However, very few people will listen to them anyway. In order not to fool yourself with the search for songs, you can do own channel... Songs are added to it from: phone memory saved in Mi Speaker, speaker memory, as well as from Mi Music and four more Chinese online services... Preset playlists don't always start quickly. But at the time of this writing, the stream "CRI HIT FM" with foreign hits is not turned on at all. Sometimes playback may stop, but pressing Play again will normalize everything. When you press the "CH" button on the speaker's control panel, you switch between the playlists added to your favorites. When you turn on the corresponding item in the settings, the same Chinese girl will pronounce the name of the selected stream. Quite convenient. You cannot set your own name, because it picks it up immediately from the selected store. Those. chose "Phone storage", so she will say "Phone storage". Perhaps the Russified version will be different. Another interesting feature is the inclusion of a playlist by voice. We hold down the "CH" button, say the name of the required stream next to the column and it starts. There have been no problems with recognition yet, but my names are straightforward. Information about the complete voice control, but I did not find any manual for interacting with this shaitan-box. All of the above information is for WiFi playback. Once we have added everything we need to the library, and in the future the speaker is completely autonomous and can play music even when the phone is turned off. It's just not clear where all this is stored. In this case, the column memory is not clogged. 1 GB of music is added to the playlist instantly, i.e. uploading to the cloud is swept aside. Mystery.

Sound
I will say right away that in my description there will be no “warm sound, tenderly caressing the auricle on a cold winter evening by the fireplace”.
When choosing, I relied only on video reviews from one wonderful foreign reviewer of portable devices. He also has a kind of all the devices he tested, in which you can "head to head" compare this or that column. But here is the impression of the subject that I got when listening to that site and what I got in reality differs markedly. There, almost every track was dominated by bass, more like a booming rumble. In fact, there is no such thing at all. Yes, and no predominance of it in principle. Yes, evaluating the sound from a video is bad manners, but in the absence of the opportunity to test the device offline, there is simply no choice. In general, let's get started. The volume is adjusted with a delay of ~ 1 sec. The adjustment step from the application is 50, and on the speaker itself - 25. I will briefly describe the impressions of some of the songs I listened to at maximum volume in flac through a cable connected to a PC.

This level is enough for me to "swing" 50 m², not to mention the maximum volume. The sound level meter on the phone showed values up to 86dB. Acoustics, light rock and pop sounds good. I don't see much difference between BT, WiFi and AUX. Except that with BT sometimes some wheezing skips for ~ 0.5 sec. 
Conclusion

- WiFi, USB, AUX, DLNA playback
- Voice control
- Built-in memory 8GB
- The slots on the case will be clogged with dust
- At maximum volume on some tracks, everything can mix into a mess.
- Not the best choice for heavy music
- Crooked companion app
- There are no normal radio stations in the normal number
Summing up, I will say that having bought this very column for my hard-earned money (let me remind you that you can find it for ~ 60 bucks), I would not be disappointed. If you need a speaker exclusively for the house with all sorts of bells and whistles for little money, then this is a good choice. However, it's up to you to decide.
