Google Keep is a new note-taking service from Google. Change the color of a note

In the modern "seething information flow", a situation often arises when you need to quickly write certain information... It can be some ideas, thoughts, personal or work notes, the need to make a to-do list, remember important data, links to useful sites, recipes, and the like. Also, sometimes you want to save your favorite picture or recorded video for future use. For many users, all this probably reminds. And in general, now on the network there is more than one solution of this kind (both paid and free).

Google decided to show that it is not a bastard, and wedged itself into this niche. At the end of March, another service of the web giant was launched under the name. It is completely free and available to all network users who have a Google account. Before moving on to the review, I would like to remember that once the company had a project similar in functionality - Google Notebook, where you could easily and quickly save notes. Actually, a few years ago I brought it up as an alternative to Evernote, a beginner at that time. And then they just closed it. A quite reasonable question arises - will not the same fate befall Google Keep, because records can be made in + in Lately Google is actively getting rid of ballast, and not all of the company's undertakings have become successful (Google Wave, Google Buzz).

I think Google Keep can save him from this sad fate mobile version and active development the smartphone market. Moreover, I think it is Android version(now and other OSs later) will be more popular than the browser option. Unless they will come up with an interesting and functional plugin for the latter (for now, you need to use Google Keep on a separate page).

Of course, synchronization is a big plus. Google information Keep between all devices.

The guys from Google decided that it would be convenient for me and you, as ordinary network users, to make text or notes from a photo in two clicks, create simple lists. For the same few clicks "sort" them by colors, edit, move to archive or delete. Yes, Google Keep does not yet provide any tags, tags or other similar identifiers. Filtering all notes is possible only with colors and flawless search. You decide for yourself, for example, that red is “something urgent,” yellow is “work ideas,” and so on. Note search is another big plus for Google Keep. Notes and lists can be deleted or archived. Notes that are in the archive will be available when searching.

Working with notes in Google Keep gives a double impression. On the one hand, adding records or lists is very simple. Enter the title of the note (optional), the text of the note itself and click "Finish". We want to edit an element - just click on it. A to-do or shopping list is created in the same way. After clicking on the square next to the case, it is crossed out (becomes completed). To highlight a note with color, you just need to select one of the proposed options for it. Everything happens in a few clicks (new google style- Gmail has a similar interface now) and it's cool.

Highlighting is now the only way to separate work notes from family tasks and other things. Maybe that's enough, maybe Google will add more tags further - it's hard to say. In principle, colors do not really help me in the Todoist task planner, although I don't use tags there (only categories). It all depends on how you organize your notes.

Another sensation arising from Google Keep is that somehow it's all "damp". To add a picture to a note, you need to upload it from your computer. Although drag and drop works great in Gmail. If the picture is small, then it will be "stretched" to large sizes notes. To save a link to some sites, you will have to manually copy the link from address bar browser. Definitely missing some module (plugin) that makes these tasks simpler and "modern". The advantage of the same Google Notebook was the ability to select some text on the site and save it in the service with one click. Continuously navigating to the Google Keep page is too hassle.

GoogleKeep forAndroid

The situation here is a little better than in a browser application - more thoughtful moments, more sense in certain functions, so to speak. When you add a photo note, the camera of your gadget is immediately activated. Also happens with the microphone if you want to take a voice note. Audio notes - perfect solution for those who like to dictate to themselves reminders instead of texts.

Adding notes, voice and lists here is also quite simple - you don't need to save anything, just write what you need and go to home page with notes. Notes are saved automatically. Links in mobile application for android will be active, and when you click on them, you will be prompted to open them in one of the installed browsers.

If you want to add a photo not from the camera, then you must first open the gallery (this is one of the problems). Also, Google Keep does not provide any image correction. Added, signed and free. It is possible that it is not needed here - I would not want to lose the simplicity for such a service.

When you create a new note, the entry appears on top of the last ones - it looks all in the style of a blog. You can also display your notes in columns. Do not forget that if there are several photos in your notes or lists, then only the first one will be displayed as a preview.

In conclusion about Google Keep

In general, the service takes place, although so far it is a little "damp". In principle, I read that users have received this project warmly enough, so it is possible that it has a good future ahead of it. The biggest niche (focus) of the service, as I see it, is smartphone users - the web application is more for viewing ready-made notes, processing them, and more will be created from phones. Users who spend more time in browsers for stationary computer, it would not hurt to have some kind of dedicated plugin for Google Keep. V this moment it loses slightly to similar browser-based note services.

Oops ... I stumbled upon a mistake Google Keep service. After checking the information about the error with the help of the same Google, I realized that I was not the only one, others also faced a similar problem.

While Google Keep is a note-taking service, it offers the most basic functions and tools. Perhaps it will seem to you more than just notebook... Nevertheless, the Keep service somehow does not seem to me as replacements such giant in a note-taking area such as Evernote. However, we can always expect more from Google. Now let's move on to looking at the pros and cons of Google Keep.

PER

  • It's free.
  • Google Keep is a fast and easy note-taking service.
  • The service offers an extension for the Chrome browser that can be used offline.

AGAINST

  • Google Keep does not offer additional funds formatting.
  • Lack of parameters for hyperlinks.
  • Users cannot post video files. Keep for the web only supports images.
  • Lack of function for sharing notes.
  • Notes cannot be distributed according to content.
  • Keep does not support rich text.

Outcome

As I said before, Google Keep is a note-taking service that can help you solve basic tasks to create notes. If your tasks go beyond the Keep service, then you can use other options at any time.

This is my experience of using the web version of the Google Keep service. Have you already used this tool? What are your feelings? Share your experience with us in the comments section. Thank you for attention!

Is an excellent cross-platform notes and reminders manager. To learn how to use it to the maximum, read our material.
It doesn't matter what you use the service for: to create a convenient shopping list for the weekend, to save sudden ideas that light up on your way to school, or to write key messages for an upcoming talk. Here are 5 tips to help you improve your experience with this app:

Read text from images with Google Keep
Google Keep can recognize text in images. Many people are familiar with this function from the translator, for some time now it is also in the notes. Save your time by letting the program recognize the text from a snapshot of a book or magazine page. As soon as the text is recognized, it immediately becomes ready for editing or copying.

To use the function, you need an internet connection, as well as a snapshot, screenshot or any other image with text that you want to recognize.
- Create a new note in Google Keep with the desired picture
- After the image is loaded, open the note
- Click on the menu button (three circles)
- Select "Recognize text"
OCR accuracy will depend on image quality and character accuracy. A brightly lit shot with good contrast will give excellent results, while a dark, blown out or washed-out picture will produce very unusual results.

Set a reminder and it will go to Google now
Popular tricks with other planners like Wunderlist or Todoist are the ability to schedule tasks at a later date and receive notifications in required time... Google Kepp also supports this feature. For each note, you can assign a certain date and time. Click on the knotted finger icon to set the reminder time:

Smart Filtering and Sorting Options
Colors in Google Keep are not used to make notes more colorful, but to help you organize tasks, thoughts, to-do lists, and more. For example, use blue for notes on work, red for shopping, yellow for random thoughts, and so on.

Use all types of colors to use in-app search comfortably in the future.

Create voice notes
If Rast Cole had this app, he would write his thoughts down here.
Android users can create voice memos in Google Keep. But in addition to syncing across all platforms, the app will also recognize your speech and add it to your note as text.
To use a voice memo, open Keep on your Android device, tap the microphone icon, and dictate the note.

Recovery deleted notes(as well as archiving)
If you accidentally deleted a note, don't worry. You can still restore it within 7 days while it is stored in the trash.

To recover deleted notes, open side panel, select Trash, click on the options icon and select “Restore”.
The habit of adding notes not to the Trash, but to the Archive will help you protect something important from being deleted. This makes your notes accessible via long term, but removes them from sight.

Hi friends I don’t know about you, but I really like the Google corporation, the programs from this company are not buggy, they work stably and, in general, everything is thought out to the smallest detail! But the truth is this is my opinion, and you may have a different opinion .. Well, okay. Today I will tell you about such a program as Google Keep, I will tell you what it is for. Although, first of all, it would be correct to call Google Keep not a program, but a website ..

You know, it's strange, but not all Google services are popular in Russia. Well, for example, take Gmail mail, it is quite popular both abroad and here. But if you take Google Keep, then it is popular over there, but we have something not very good, it is not clear why? Although maybe they somehow do not promote it in Russia or something else ...? I just found out about it myself recently and was surprised that I did not know earlier! So, it's time to say what Google Keep is, we can say that it is an Internet organizer. Here you can store notes, some reminders, make plans, write some lists, and all this is stored online on the Internet on the Google Keep website.

Here is a picture for you, here it is briefly written about what Google Keep is:

I just liked this picture and I decided to show it to you too, I would call this picture.Paper notes have migrated to smartphones:

We can say that Google Kip is divided into two parts, this is a version for mobile devices and a version for desktops, that is, for conventional computers... You can also configure Chrome to have notifications from Google Kip. And this, well, I think that you do not need to be reminded that in order to use this service, you need to have a Google account. You will have one Google account and Gmail, and Google Kip, well, everything else: this is how it is established in Google, one account for all services, and it is convenient

Look, this is the version of Google Kip for a computer (that is, you can enter through a browser, it is better to use Chrome, of course):

Look, this is what Google Kip looks like on your phone, not bad either:

If you want to create a note, then you can also specify the color of the note, attach a picture, maybe now there are some new chips in this regard. seconds, you can see this note on a smartphone or tablet, provided that you are logged into your Google account. Well, that is, the synchronization of notes and everything else works without problems.

I didn't know, but Google Kip has an option to create an advanced note, I mean a note in the form of a list. For example, here you need to do a lot of things during the week, here you wrote down all your things in a note, but at the same time wrote everything in the form of a list, and now they did one thing, they removed the check mark. It's convenient, but why isn't anyone using it? Google Kip seems to have appeared in 2013, maybe due to the fact that the service is still young? I don’t understand, but the fact is that in Russia Google Kip is not very popular ..

Using Google Kip on your phone is convenient as well as on a regular computer:

The phone has its own bells and whistles. For example, when you create a note, you can attach a photo to it. On the one hand, the question arises, why is it not done in the desktop version? To be honest, I'm not sure, maybe it has already been done, but if you take a smartphone, then everything is simple. The fact is that every smartphone has a camera and it is very stupid not to use it, Google Kip just needs to take a photo from the camera and insert it into a note:

But if you use a computer, then not everywhere there is a webcam, by the way, I don't have one ..

You can also create notes from sound, in other words, audio notes. To do this, the phone will use the built-in microphone. Many probably know what Okay Google is, when it first appeared, I was very interested to try it. Okay Google is when you say a phrase and then Google searches for something on the Internet using it. The trick seems to be cool, but in fact it seems to me not very useful and I must admit that I do not use it. Although really cool. Well, and it can be useful to create a voice note:

Although, again, I’ll say about the garlic that I probably would not use audio notes, I’m not used to something, I don’t know .. After starting to create a voice note, there will be such a picture, then you just need to say your note out loud and Google Kip will write it down:

That is, it is not clear, or there are audio notes, or it is most likely that you can record a note with a voice, that is, without typing on the keyboard, but said aloud, and the note was typed by itself, it seems that this is how it works .. Well, the fact that the voice is so easily translated into text , then yes, it is cool implemented, no questions

If you have a lot of notes, to quickly find the one you need, you can use the search:

You can customize how notes will be displayed:

That is, as I wrote, Google Kip is made competently, everything is thought out, stylish and nothing here loads the brain, so to speak

Google Kip on a tablet:

Foreign users like Google Kip, they say that it is much better than Evernote, which is overloaded with an interface, different functions, sometimes slows down. I can’t say anything here, I’ll just say that Evernote comes from Microsoft, but Microsoft is not some kind of office for you, it’s a global corporation .. In principle, like Google ..

That's all the guys, my advice to you will be this, if you notice the Google Kip application on your phone, then you don't need to delete it right away! Try to get to know him, well, that is, try to create some notes, just a pancake, well, this is a really high-quality note, well, or it would be more correct to say an organizer. Try it, if you like it. It's time for me to say goodbye, see you again, come back again!
