Where is it better to order a computer assembly. Online configurator (assembly) of the system unit with compatibility check

In addition to the fact that the computer stores themselves have grown immensely, besides, in the stores themselves, the choice of both ready-made computers and individual components for them is simply incredible. An uninitiated user will not understand what is responsible for what and what to choose. Often, people are guided by prices, by the number of gigabytes, gigahertz, cores, or simply listen to what the sales managers tell them.
I, in turn, in this field, as they say, "ate the dog" and I know not only - what, with what, but also about more serious and important details, not having knowledge about which, you can make gross mistakes. In this post, I will briefly try to talk about some of the details of the choice of system components and give 3 examples of the configuration of gaming computers that you can order and assemble, both yourself and in a store.
The first thing to consider when choosing a gaming computer is that in no case should you buy them ready-made! Those people who are engaged in the selection of components by no means want to select the appropriate components for a gaming computer, moreover, the finished PCs themselves, as a rule, are much more expensive than the computer you have chosen yourself, or rather its components, for subsequent assembly and even taking into account, that some shops take money for assembly, all the same, the set you have selected will be more powerful and cheaper than ready-made counterparts. Therefore, we forget about ready-made solutions and move on to the selection of components.
When choosing components for a gaming PC, you need to consider the following factors:
1) And the most important thing! The performance of a computer and its individual components cannot be measured by comparison with other models based on the amount of memory in gigabytes, or on the basis of frequencies, number of cores, etc. Real performance is measured in terms of specific programs, in real tests that are carried out on popular, authoritative publications devoted to computers and accessories, you can easily find information on individual components by typing a query into Google, such as - "Review of Intel i5-4590k", or for example "GTX980Ti review". In order to ascertain the veracity of the information, go to 3-4 different reviews at once and check the information, if it roughly converges everywhere, then everything is correct.
2) Intel processors, almost always, turn out to be more powerful than AMD processors in games, while it is absolutely not important that the same intel i3 has only 2 physical cores, and the same AMD FX-8300 has as many as 8, and even a large one frequency. But the bottom line is that intel processors have strikingly higher performance per core and this performance gives them an advantage over AMD processors in games, because games are rather reluctant to optimize for multithreading (multi-core). Therefore, when choosing a processor, you need to focus on real tests in real games, and not on synthetic tests like SuperPi. The most optimal processor for games is almost any intel i5 with a frequency higher than 3.2 GHz, and if you need more performance, then pay attention to the processors with the letter "K" at the end, such processors can be overclocked, which adds to performance and sometimes very much ! It is also worth keeping a balance between the processor and the video card, it is completely useless to put an intel i5 in combination, say, with a GTX750Ti, but it will also be too logical to put an i3 and a GTX980Ti, it will not be enough. It should be remembered that the processor should not cost more than a video card!
3) A video card is the main component of a gaming computer, on the basis of this component you need to build a gaming computer and the power of a video card is not measured in gigabytes, or just in megahertz, in fact, there is no power measurement in principle. There are separate indicators, such as - the amount of memory, which is not so important if you have more than 3 gigabytes on a video card from 15000r, or from 2 gigabytes on cheaper cards, or the frequency of the GPU, which may differ between different models, the same product (the same chip model, say GTX970, can be produced by a dozen companies and each video card will be different), etc. Also, it should be borne in mind that there are reference and non-reference designs, what does this mean? The reference design is the standard design provided by the manufacturer for this video card model, the reference design video cards get hotter and noisier, so their purchase is not recommended. Video cards of a non-reference design heat up less and make less noise, since they have a better cooling system, with several large and quiet fans, and also sometimes have a different component base, which allows them to be overclocked more efficiently, so I recommend purchasing video cards just not reference design.
4) The volume and frequency of RAM - in fact, the amount of RAM for games is only 8 gigabytes, in fact it is not needed more, and frequencies do not play a special role, therefore the best choice is 2 memory sticks of 4 gigabytes each with a frequency of 1600MHz, preferably Samsung Original, or HYNIX Original. Planks without the word "Original" are fakes, on these chips and are of inferior quality.

5) Hard drive and SSD - for most games you only need an acceptable hard drive, for example Western Digital Black and there will be no positive reaction from installing an SSD in games, but installing the same SSD allows the system itself to run much faster and speeds up the loading of games ...
6) Motherboards - the biggest misconception is that expensive, cool motherboards give an increase in performance. This, alas, is not so! The motherboard is the link between the processor, memory, video card and other system components; in fact, the motherboard is the wires between the system components. But also, it should be borne in mind that the motherboard may have functions that are important to you and you must choose the motherboard based on your needs. When choosing a motherboard, in addition to the obvious things, such as choosing a socket (socket for the processor) and checking compatibility with the selected processor, you need to look at - the number of connectors you need - SATA for hard drives and drives, USB 2.0 and 3.0, etc. look at the presence of such functions as SLI, Crossfire, which allow you to install several video cards at the same time, if you do not need such a function now, then it is better to refuse to buy such motherboards, for these functions you pay huge sums. The best option is a motherboard, costing 4-5 thousand rubles, ATX form factor with an 8pin processor power connector and 4 connectors for memory modules, as well as with 5-6 connectors for connecting audio devices.
7) Power supplies - The biggest misconception about power supplies is that the more watts the better. Nothing like this! There will be no difference between 65 and 1500 watt power supplies for your system, if it is built on one processor and one video card. The power supply must be selected based on the consumption of the system. The most powerful video card cannot consume more than 350 watts, a processor no more than 250 (rare copies, overclocked, without overclocking, powerful CPUs consume about 80-100 watts), everything else consumes about 70 watts. Therefore, for systems of about 30,000 rubles, 500-550 "watt" will be enough, for powerful PCs with one video card, "for overclocking", 650 watts, and for the rest, it depends on the number of video cards, but the rule is simple - +1 video card = + 300 watts.
8) Do not forget about cooling systems, if the processor overclocks, then you need to choose a processor "cooler" based on tests, the most optimal option, for example Coolermaster S200. If the same processor is not chasing, then you can choose a simpler cooler, up to 500 rubles, based on reviews on the same Yandex market.

This is how the components are selected somehow, and now I will give 3 examples of decent assemblies with a certain price category, these assemblies are intended only for games and do not meet certain requirements, but this does not mean that they cannot be used for work, or rendering / audio processing. Also, keep in mind that theoretically you can pick up even more optimal components, but for this you need to differentiate yourself from stores and the presence of certain components in them, these components are selected in one store that delivers goods throughout Russia and has its representative offices in many cities. (prices are taken from one popular store, its name cannot be indicated according to the rules of chips).

And so here are 3 configurations from me:
The configurations themselves with links to the store:

This system unit is at the cutting edge of technology. The motherboard with SLI support, overclocked processor, power supply and case are designed for installing two video cards, and the existing video card is pre-top and gives a consistently high FPS in all games. This configuration is intended for a narrow circle of people who crave a large FPS and a juicy picture.

Of course, not everything is matched perfectly, but it can be ideally selected only for a specific person and his tasks.

That's all, I hope it was interesting for you to read this ton of text and it will be useful for you. And remember - in no case, do not buy ready-made computers, they cost you more and work much worse. In the modern world, there are shops in which they will collect and help you in the selection of components for the system!

Hello to all! The other day, one of my clients asked me to help with choosing a ready-made system unit in a digital supermarket. As I did not try to dissuade him, explaining that in the assembled computers they were almost always selected incorrectly, and the prices for such products are greatly inflated, he stayed on his own, and only after I calculated in detail the cost of the system unit for him, as if we were collecting him themselves, and compared the resulting price with the price tag of the already assembled PC, my client agreed with me.

Friends, the whole point is that I know this "kitchen" from the inside. Almost always, a ready-made system unit is assembled from horribly matched components that could not be sold at retail, for example, along with a low-performance processor, a powerful video card can be installed in such a computer (it is because of it that the PC will be called a game card), but this is a vidyuha will never give it its full capacity due to a flawed processor. As for the quality of the components, there is a similar story here. In particular, you will not be able to establish the manufacturer of the RAM and video card, and the processor cooling system will be factory-made and very noisy, the SSD solid-state drive will be from an unknown Chinese "Fast Disk", and the power supply unit has no name at all, on a small microATX motherboard you will not find the PCI slot you need, and on the front panel of the ugly case of USB 3.0 ports, instead of two case fans, you will get one and it will buzz a mile away. And most importantly, the price of this monster will be in the region of 50 thousand rubles! You will be surprised, but if you assemble the system unit yourself, then it will cost 10 thousand rubles cheaper and the quality is undoubtedly better. Yes, I agree that in some cases you can find a decent ready-made computer with normal components, but its price will always be more expensive than you would have built it yourself.

Selection of components for a computer

First, let's define the build sequence. In most cases, the components of the future computer must be selected in the following order: Processor-> Motherboard-> Video card-> Power supply-> Cooler-> RAM-> Storage-> Case. A lot of links can be included in this chain (external devices, additional PCI cards, additional coolers, and so on)

CPU

Let's get started! The very first in line is this. We start with a computer heart because components such as a video card, a motherboard and a cooler are selected for it, and not vice versa, but first things first. The computer market today is teeming with a myriad of processors to choose from. Personally, I chose the i5 6400, because it is powerful and inexpensive (11 thousand rubles), besides, it is very easy to overclock (overclock) and operates at a frequency above 4.3 GHz.

So, after you have settled on a model, you, by and large, need two things: remember the socket of this processor (socket is the connector where the processor is inserted) and decide whether the processor will be overclocked ( ).

If you decide that you will overclock, then you will need a specific motherboard on the z170, z270 chipset (a chipset is a set of microcircuits that coordinates the joint work of all components).

Motherboard

We need to know the processor socket type for. Here we are smoothly and come to the second step. In general, the motherboard offers the buyer the largest and most diverse set of functions and characteristics in comparison with other components. Everyone decides for himself how many slots for RAM he needs, the number and variety of ports on the panel, SATA connectors, etc. That is why its choice should be approached very carefully and prudently. I decided that I would drive the percent. Accordingly, I need a mother on the z170 chipset (or on the z270) and with 1151 sockets. I fixed my gaze on the Asrock z170m pro 4s (price 7 thousand rubles).

If you do not plan to overclock, then take any motherboard you like with the functionality and socket that suits you. Also, do not forget to look in the column "supported processors", in my case the i5 processor is in this list, everything is in order. it had the required number of PCI-Express x16 slots.

The next thing you need to pay attention to is the type of supported RAM (DDR 2, 3, 4), the number of slots for the RAM and its maximum possible volume. This information will be useful to us directly when choosing the memory itself.

Now we look at the parameters "Main power connector" and "Power connector for the processor".

The main connectors are of two types, 20 pin and 24 pin. The connector for powering the processor is 4pin, but 8pin is better.

Another characteristic we need is the form factor of the motherboard. There are four main types of them (not taking into account various modifications): mini-ITX, microATX, ATX, XL-ATX. Their main difference is the size. When choosing a case, for the most part, we will be based on this parameter.

In my case, a MicroATX motherboard, choosing it, I was guided by the fact that they are usually cheaper and it had everything I needed, why pay extra for additional slots and connectors that I will never use (for example, I do not need PCI slots).

Video card

Now on to dessert - a graphics card!

When selecting components, let me remind you that it is precisely when matching, and not choosing, that the main parameters are the dimensions of the card, the recommended power of the power supply unit and connectors for additional power supply. We will need the knowledge of the dimensions further when selecting the case, and the rest of the information will be required when selecting the power supply unit, which is next in line. By the way, the video card should be selected, as I wrote above, for the processor, after all, it is the processor that reveals the full potential of the video card, and not vice versa.

In my case, the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB is ideal for the i5 6400.

Power Supply

So, . The main selection criteria are the power, types and number of power connectors. The recommended power supply unit is indicated in the specifications for any video card on the manufacturer's website, plus, if you are going to overclock the equipment, you need to buy an even more powerful unit. And there should always be a small margin, because later it is possible to upgrade the system or purchase additional devices that also require energy, albeit small.

As for the connectors, everything is simple. We look at the motherboard specifications, which we talked about just above. Main power connector and power for the processor. We select a block in accordance with these criteria. In general, the most versatile power supply in terms of the type of connectors is considered to be a 24pin main power supply and an 8pin processor power supply.

Also, do not forget about the additional power supply to the video card, it can be 4, 6, 8, 12pin. Not all cards need it, but there are more and more of them now. Again, look above, in the specification for the vidyuha, everything is written there. Based on all these parameters, I picked myself a modest Aerocool KCAS 600W.

CPU cooler

So we got to. Here, we are looking at the socket that must match the motherboard socket, compatibility, dimensions, and connector type.

In my case, the DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 tower cooler has socket 1151 and is compatible with an i5 processor.

Of course, there are universal coolers that fit any socket, but do not forget to look at this parameter when choosing. Next are the dimensions. We are mostly interested in the height, because if the cooler is too high, there is a chance that the side wall of the case will not be able to close, be careful. In general, there are two types of coolers - tower and boxed ones. Tower coolers have a better cooling system and are installed mainly on overclocked hardware. Boxing, for the most part, are either on office or on weak gaming computers. So, if you choose a boxed cooler, then you don't have to bother with the dimensions, but if you are choosing a tower cooler, then be sure to pay attention to its dimensions. And last but not least, this is the type of connector (CPU FAN), with which the cooler receives the necessary energy from the power supply through the motherboard. They are 3pin and 4pin. Now many will say that you can shove a 3pin connector into a 4pin connector, and with the proper skill and desire, vice versa. But I advise you to take a cooler with a connector in accordance with the connector on the motherboard.

RAM

That's it with coolers, let's move on to RAM. It must be selected based on such parameters as: memory type, speed indicators and frequency. With the type and frequency of memory, everything is simple. The specifications of the motherboard always indicate these two characteristics, which we have already highlighted above.

Based on this, I selected two AMD Radeon R7 Performance Series bars of 8gb each.

Now about the speed indicator. Let's go back to the processor for a while. The specifications for it always indicate its bandwidth.

Ideally, the total speed of the RAM should be equal to the maximum possible processor bandwidth. In my case, the memory has a speed of 17000 MB / s.

Since I have two strips, we multiply 17000 by 2 and we just get 34000 MB / s.

I hope I didn’t explain too hard and you understand me. If something is not clear, I will be glad to answer you in the comments. Also, do not forget about the maximum possible amount of memory supported by the motherboard. Although in the current realities, few people may need more than 64GB of memory. Oh, yes, I almost forgot about the two-channel mode. If, for example, you need 8GB of RAM, take two strips of 4GB each. In two-channel mode, the processing and transmission speed is faster.

Well, I think everything is clear here, there is no need to explain anything. This concludes our selection. Finally, I want to say that the selection of components is a very painstaking and tedious business, but in my opinion it is worth it. Be careful, in no case take your time, and you will be happy in the form of saved finances and a powerful computer.

The first step is to determine exactly the tasks for which your future system unit will be used. If you are planning to buy gaming equipment, then special attention should be paid to the video card, and for a graphic workstation, the processor power and the amount of RAM play a fundamental role. The least demanding in terms of performance are office system builders. You don't even need to add an external video card, because the built-in one will be enough. The first thing to do is choose a processor. This element affects the overall performance of the entire system, and the more cores (and the higher their frequency), the faster the operations will be performed.

Next, the PC configurator will help you choose the motherboard. It must be compatible with the CPU and support the required frequency of RAM. Pay attention to the presence of all the necessary slots and connectors, as well as the size of the motherboard itself (ATX, micro ATX, mini ATX, etc.). Usually, any of them already have a built-in network and sound card. The website builder of the online store will automatically select the appropriate options after you select the processor, and not exclude the suitable ones. A gaming computer must be equipped with an external video card. If you want to regularly play modern games and forget about upgrading your system for a long time, then you should not save. This also applies to the amount of RAM, it will not particularly affect the cost of a PC, but it will significantly affect performance. The amount of information that you can simultaneously store on your computer depends on the size of your hard disk. But to increase system performance, it is recommended to additionally install an SSD drive. It will contain the OS, programs and applications.

For convenient work with external data carriers, the system unit, if desired, is equipped with an optical drive and a card reader. One of the important elements of the system unit is the power supply. Its power should be selected after calculating the total volume of electricity consumption by components. In addition, leave a headroom of 100-200 watts for reliable operation under increased loads on the processor and video card. The designer will not let you make a mistake with the choice of the power supply, since it will take into account the components you have chosen and will provide only suitable cases with power supplies.

The configuration of a powerful gaming computer provides for the presence of an additional cooling system, which is selected automatically, depending on the selected processor. It remains to collect everything in the case. It can be very simple and straightforward, if you plan to install the system unit under the table, where no one will see it, or have neon lights and a window on the side, allowing you to monitor the operation of the system (gaming options). This is a matter of taste, but keep in mind that a gaming PC case should be roomy and have good airflow so that the components do not overheat at peak loads.
