Official prices for the iPhone 5S in 2018

The iPhone 5s has not been officially produced for several years, and therefore the stocks of this model have almost completely run out in all major stores.

From mid May 2018 iPhone 5s 16Gb can be bought in Beeline at a price of 15,990 rubles 8,670 rubles .

  • iPhone 5s 64 GB - 8 700 rub.
  • The world-famous iPhone 5, which recently entered the market, has already managed to conquer gadget lovers with its functionality. In many ways, the iPhone 5 and its camera are superior to their predecessors. How many megapixels the iPhone 5 cameras have, and how good they are, are questions that concern most consumers.

    The iPhone 5 has an 8 megapixel camera that allows you to take great pictures at any time of the day or night. In addition, the front camera of this popular gadget has 1.2 megapixels.

    The camera on the iPhone 5 has the following features:

    • allows you to take high quality photos;
    • includes backlit module;
    • has 5 lenses and f / 2.4 aperture, which allows iPhone 5 to be classified as a professional photographic equipment;
    • even when you first get acquainted with the iPhone 5, it becomes clear which camera is better - installed on it or on model 4, because. in the new version of the gadget, excellent pictures are obtained even in poor lighting, and the cameras themselves take up much less space in the case than before (by 30%);
    • The camera installed on iPhone 5 allows the user to take photos and videos at the same time.

    Fundamental differences between the cameras of the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4

    There are not many significant differences between these 2 models. The pixel in both devices in the main camera is 8. Backlighting is present in both gadgets.

    The fundamental difference between the five is that the body of the phone has become thinner and more compact. Accordingly, the manufacturer also reduced the size of the camera to fit it into the device.

    The manufacturer himself sees significant differences in the camera of the latest iPhone model in such moments as:

    • matrix enlargement;
    • better photo quality in low light;
    • fast focusing speed when shooting;
    • the presence of sapphire glass.

    Speaking about the differences between the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4, we should especially mention the panorama. Unlike the panorama modes of other iPhones, in the top five, thanks to iOS, it became possible to combine photos in full resolution so that they come out at 28 megapixels. Photos look super high quality and bright - they can see any, even the smallest detail.

    iPhone 5 Camera Benefits Everyone Should Know About

    It is important not only to have such a wonderful device as a five smartphone, but also to skillfully use all its functions. When it comes to photographs, in order for them to come out as good as possible, the skills of the photographer are as important as the properties of the camera itself.

    So, to improve the quality of photos taken with the iPhone 5 camera, you need to:

    1 Competently build a frame. To do this, you need to use the grid function to correctly determine the proportions of the frame and correctly compose objects. 2 Add the right amount of light. When taking photos in a dark room or outdoors when it starts to get dark, you can use the exposure lock and autofocus function. The pictures will be of very good quality. 3 Make the maximum coverage of objects / objects, landscape. To do this, you need to turn on the panorama mode at the very end of the camera. Thanks to this function, objects of any height and width can be placed in the frame.

    Is the iPhone 5 camera really that good in practice...

    With a deeper analysis of the technical characteristics of the five and comparing this model with the iPhone 4, it becomes clear that the declared capabilities of the matrix are slightly exaggerated. In fact, the matrix in the new model exceeds the similar part in the previous version by no more than 15%. On the other hand, the aperture volumes in the five were increased to a value of 2.2.

    It should also be noted that, despite the equal number of megapixels, in iphone 5 they have become larger, which has a positive effect on the quality of photos - they come out clearer and brighter. For the same reason - due to the enlargement of the pixels - the "noise" should probably decrease with a lack of light in photographic conditions. The number of overexposures when photographing contrasting objects should also be reduced.

    According to the reviews of a number of consumers who managed to evaluate the capabilities of the iPhone 5, we can conclude that the camera of this model differs slightly from its predecessor. So, some note that the details in the pictures can only be seen on a computer monitor upon close examination. Among the positive aspects, users note a real reduction in "noise", in particular, color, and increased image detail.

    Thus, there are certainly differences between the cameras in the last 2 versions of iPhones. But they cannot be called cardinal. In the iPhone 5, the camera allows you to take slightly sharper and more detailed images, respectively, better quality. For photography enthusiasts, however, these benefits can be quite significant. The ability to shoot both video and photos at the same time is a great feature for dynamic users looking to capture life in pictures and live. However, for professional shots, it is still better to use the appropriate technique.

    Many of those who follow the development of the company Apple were dissatisfied with the innovations that appeared in, tk. they were not as revolutionary as in earlier models.

    For example, compared to iPhone 5, the camera of the new flagship has been improved slightly, however, according to statements Apple The presented improvements significantly improve the quality of the resulting photographs, namely:

    • the number of pixels increased by 15%,
    • wider lens with increased aperture,
    • updated flash,
    • a faster processor that provides the following benefits when shooting: quick control of the level of light and shadow; multi-shooting, which allows you to avoid blurry photos; a new panoramic shooting mode that is able to adjust the brightness level during shooting; shooting mode .

    Now we propose to look at specific examples of how the changes described above affected the quality of the resulting photographs.

    It's all about speed

    Screen

    While many manufacturers struggle to create as bright and contrasting displays as possible, in Apple take a different path - they try to make the most realistic display on the screen. Thus, the screens iPhone 5 and they look about the same as calibrated monitors.

    Output

    Of course, it is quite difficult to consider it as a professional photography tool. However, it is extremely convenient in daily use when you need to quickly take a fairly high-quality photo. In addition, there are many entertainment features in the smartphone camera, such as panorama or slo-mo video.

    Part 2: test the screen, video playback, camera and summarize

    In the first part of the article, we covered most aspects of the Apple iPhone 5s, leaving the screen, video playback and photo capabilities out of the brackets in order to pay more attention to them in the second part of the article. If you have not read the first part, we advise you to start with it, and then return to this text.

    Screen

    The screen of the smartphone is covered with a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface and, judging by the reflection of bright light sources in it, it has a very effective anti-glare filter, which is superior in reducing the reflection brightness of the Google Nexus 7 screen filter. Doubling (and even tripling) of reflected objects is present to some extent, but the shadows of objects are very weak; this indicates that there is no air gap between the outer glass and the matrix surface. On the outer surface of the screen there is a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating (effective, but still a little worse than in the case of Google Nexus 7), so fingerprints do not appear as quickly as in the case of ordinary glass, but are removed more easily.

    With manual brightness control, its maximum value was about 520 cd/m², and the minimum was 5 cd/m². As a result, at maximum brightness, even in bright daylight, the screen will retain sufficient readability, and in complete darkness, the brightness can be reduced to a comfortable level. There is an automatic adjustment of the brightness of the backlight by the light sensor (it is located to the left of the front camera). In automatic mode, when the ambient light conditions change, the screen brightness both increases and decreases. In complete darkness in automatic mode, the brightness decreases to 5 cd / m² (this is too low), in an office lit by artificial light it is set to 200-280 cd / m² when increasing from the minimum (acceptable) and to 500 cd / m² (which is too a lot) when decreasing from the maximum, and in a bright environment (corresponding to a clear day outdoors, but without direct sunlight) increases to a maximum of 520 cd/m². As a result, this function does not work quite adequately: in the dark it lowers the brightness too much, and when switching to medium light levels, the hysteresis is too large. At low brightness, there is virtually no backlight modulation, so visual flickering of the screen cannot be seen.

    The iPhone 5s has an IPS type matrix. The micrograph demonstrates the subpixel structure typical of IPS - if you look closely, you can see the division of subpixels by control electrodes into narrow “beds” characteristic of IPS:

    The dark dots in the next photo (at a lower magnification) are dust that has settled somewhere between the layers of the screen.

    This is far from the first screen with glued layers, but the first in which we found so much dust. Of course, this dirt cannot be seen with the naked eye, and in fact it does not worsen the properties of the screen, but its presence indirectly indicates an insufficiently high production culture at the enterprise that manufactures screens for this smartphone.

    The screen has very good viewing angles without hue inversion and without significant color shift even at large deviations of the gaze from the perpendicular to the screen. The black field, when deflected diagonally, is highlighted very little and, depending on the direction of the deflection, acquires a red-violet or bluish tint. When viewed perpendicularly, the uniformity of the black field is good. The contrast is high - about 960:1. The gamma curve constructed from 32 points did not reveal a blockage either in the highlights or in the shadows, and the exponent of the approximating power function is 2.19, which is almost equal to the standard value of 2.2, while the real gamma curve coincides with the power dependence:

    The response time for the black-white-black transition is 28ms (15ms on + 13ms off), the transition between 25% and 75% grayscale (by color value) takes a total of 41.5ms. The color gamut is sRGB:

    The spectra show that the matrix light filters moderately mix the components to each other, and as a result, visually the colors have a natural saturation:

    The balance of shades on the gray scale is good, since the color temperature is slightly higher than the standard 6500 K and its variation is very small, and the deviation from the blackbody spectrum (delta E) is significantly less than 10, which is considered a good indicator for a consumer device. (The dark areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since the color balance is not of great importance there, and the measurement error of color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

    In terms of the combination of characteristics, the screen deserves a very high rating. Especially note the high brightness, stable and deep blacks, very good color reproduction. When compared with the Apple iPhone 5, you can see that the new screen is a little brighter and its color reproduction is a little more accurate - however, these differences are not so fundamental as to argue that there is a significant difference between the screens of these devices.

    Video file playback

    To test the display of video files on the screen of the device, we used a set of test files with an arrow and a rectangle moving one division per frame (see "Methodology for testing video signal playback and display devices. Version 1 (for mobile devices)"). Screenshots with a shutter speed of 1 s helped to determine the nature of the output frames of video files with various parameters: resolution (1280 by 720 (720p) and 1920 by 1080 (1080p) pixels) and frame rate (24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps) varied. from). In tests, we used a regular video player launched from a browser. The test results do not need to be summarized in a table, as they are excellent: there are no frame drops, the intervals between frames (or groups of frames) alternate evenly. The screen refresh rate appears to be 60Hz. Note that, unlike devices (phones and tablets) on Android, on the screen of the Apple iPhone 5s, we have never observed a failure in frame interleaving. The range of brightness displayed on the screen corresponds to the extended range (that is, the range 0-255) - in the shadows and in the highlights, all gradations of shades are distinguished. Most video files are encoded in the video brightness range of 16-235, so the extended range is bad for showing movies, but the Apple player is somehow able to correctly determine the type of encoding, so all the gradations are displayed on the screen anyway, and the black color is real black and white is white. The only thing this smartphone lacks is the ability to display 720p video one to one, without scaling. However, given the physical dimensions of the screen, this point is not of fundamental importance.

    Camera

    iPhone 5s is equipped with two cameras - front with a resolution of 1.2 megapixels and rear with a resolution of 8 megapixels. Traditionally, here you can not change the resolution of the image, it will always be 3264 × 2448 pixels. The exception is the mode in which the camera takes a square picture with a resolution of 2448 × 2448 pixels. Below are examples of pictures taken with the rear camera in normal mode with a resolution of 8 megapixels.

    Sharpness is quite good in all plans. The foliage merges to distant plans, but still retains a decent appearance.

    Grass and foliage worked out well for 8 megapixels.

    There is a noticeable smooth drop in sharpness to distant plans, but the camera pulls them out too.

    The exposure is well chosen. Noises in the dark area are almost imperceptible.

    A good macro shot if you know which area is in focus.

    On the flower, you can notice areas that the program could not process correctly.

    But sometimes you can achieve good results.

    Image sharpness is generally quite good. Even in dark areas, it is practically not spoiled by noise. It's nice that the foliage in the background looks soft and is exactly the foliage, and not sharp, but incomprehensible pieces. And with the exposure in auto mode, the camera has no problems.

    Focusing in macro photography is often wrong, which makes it difficult to capture the desired detail. It takes quite a long time to find the right distance to the object, especially since the minimum focusing distance of the camera is rather big.

    HDR shots show not only an extended dynamic range, but also good sharpness, which is very valuable in this case. When shooting HDR, the camera takes two shots with slight exposure compensation in both directions. The compensation is small enough that it does not allow you to immediately select a picture with a wide dynamic range.

    Lab Test

    Laboratory lighting ("1"). The stand worked perfectly, no complaints.

    Lighting ½. With reduced lighting, the result is almost as good.

    Lighting ¼. Further deterioration of lighting generated noises, which are very gently processed by noise reduction.

    Lighting ¼, flash. The flash almost brings back the conditions of laboratory lighting.

    Lighting 0. In the almost complete absence of light, the camera can no longer cope. However, you can get some idea of the subject.

    Lighting 0, flash. And even in this situation, the flash works perfectly.

    The work of the flash does not cause any complaints. When using the flash, the camera, as expected, shortens the shutter speed and reduces the ISO, due to which it wins well in resolution.

    It is clearly seen that in any light conditions the flash achieves almost the same resolution and sharpness as in laboratory light.

    When there is no light, the flash turns on in the focus illuminator mode. In such conditions, the camera takes a long time to focus, but the result is worth it. In addition, it should be noted in the flash a successful tandem of "cold" and "warm" diodes, which allow you to get close to natural colors even in bad conditions.

    According to the results of shooting the stand, the camera proved to be very worthy compared to other smartphones. Despite the smaller 1/3.2″ sensor and not the highest resolution, the graph shows that the iPhone 5s camera is one of the best. And this is confirmed not only by numbers. She manages to work very softly at high ISO values thanks to reasonable noise reduction. The result of his work resembles the work of the color noise reduction function in RAW editors, when color noise becomes gray, and in this form is almost invisible. The sharpening of the camera is barely noticeable - and then if you know where to look.

    panoramas

    In addition to the already familiar Auto and HDR modes, with the release of iOS 7, the camera has a panorama shooting mode. However, the panorama can only be shot in one position - to swipe from left to right, holding the smartphone vertically. The camera manages to get reasonably good and sharp panoramas with even exposure.

    However, there are also failures.

    Blurring in the background, white sky and black notches at the bottom are the result of poor processing. Of course, part of the problem here is the carelessness of the photographer, but the program did its job in bad faith.

    And yet I would like to note that the panoramas of the camera work well. On the other hand, this is no longer a surprise to anyone. But the restriction on the direction of wiring and the location of the smartphone, of course, is a little frustrating.

    Comparison with iPhone 5

    Of course, we couldn't help but compare the iPhone 5s camera to that of its predecessor.

    As you can see from the above shots, the cameras of the iPhone 5 and 5s are almost the same.

    Video

    The rear camera can shoot video at 1080p@30 fps and 720p@120 fps.

    It is worth noting that 720p@120 fps video, referred to as the “Slow” mode on the smartphone, is slow motion. However, slowdown (120 fps → 30 fps) is only correctly reproduced by the smartphone itself, and on the computer, the video is played only as a clip at a frequency of 120 frames per second. Apparently, the user is invited to slow down the video on the computer four times with his own hands (this can be done in most players when viewing).

    Perhaps it is impossible to say that the camera is perfect. You can't even call it the best. However, in itself it has many advantages and practically no significant drawbacks. So iPhone 5s owners will surely be happy with such a pleasant moment in the new smartphone, and iPhone 5 owners, as it turns out, can already use it if they switched to iOS 7.

    conclusions

    Apple has released a smartphone that cannot be called revolutionary, however, firstly, it is still a very high-quality product, and secondly, it has several interesting features that may well be developed in future devices by both Apple and competing companies.

    First of all, it is a fingerprint sensor. To save the user from having to enter a password every time and make it physically impossible for strangers to use his smartphone is a good goal. After all, it's no secret that many people are too lazy to come up with and remember complex passwords, and device security suffers. Again, the fingerprint scanner can be used for many other things: on tablets, for example, different levels of access to apps, websites, and content for different family members would be useful. So far this is a matter of the future, but, obviously, the very near future.

    The second promising innovation is a 64-bit processor with a new instruction set. Tests have shown that with the same frequency and number of cores, the 64-bit Apple A7 is very significantly (two or more times) superior to the Apple A6, that is, the architecture is very efficient. But this superiority is still not enough to be the undisputed market leader: NVIDIA Tegra 4 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 take the frequency and number of cores, demonstrating in benchmarks no less performance than the Apple A7. Now the main intrigue is this: does Apple have a trick up its sleeve, that is, will the company be able to release a version of the Apple A7 for new iPad tablets in the near future, but with four cores and a frequency of around 2 GHz, or are there any technical complexity, and the performance of the A7 in the iPhone 5s is still the maximum that Apple engineers are capable of at this stage.

    As for the camera and screen, there is minimal progress compared to the previous version of the iPhone (and in the case of the screen, it is completely absent), but this does not prevent them from remaining very worthy solutions that take not record technical characteristics, but the quality of all parameters and excellent adaptability to real specific tasks of the user.

    Now about the cost. iPhone 5s has not yet been officially released in Russia. Most likely, at the time of the start of sales, its price will be similar to the current price of the iPhone 5. Particularly impatient gadget lovers can, of course, purchase a smartphone from “gray” deliveries today. True, in addition to the traditionally inflated price (from one and a half times - for black and white models; up to three times - for gold), you need to be prepared for the fact that 4G (LTE) will not work, although, judging by the characteristics, Russian LTE bands are supported in some modifications of the iPhone 5s. Most likely, Apple will introduce support for Russian LTE networks by the time official sales start, but it is not certain that it will automatically appear on "gray" devices purchased in other countries.

    I have compiled a list of all phones and now we will find out how many megapixels are both front and rear cameras on your iPhone.

    Guide-Apple

    How many megapixels is the camera on iphone

    No wonder many people are interested in how many megapixels are the main and front camera on an iPhone. It is probably not a secret for anyone that millions of photos around the world are taken every day on the iPhone camera.

    The number of megapixels on all released iPhones

    For all the time, twelve phone models have already been released and I would like to consider both the front and rear cameras on iPhones in pairs. Then you will see everything for yourself.

    Camera on iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS

    The very first Apple phones were not very famous for the camera and the quality was not very good. This is not surprising, because then it was only 2007 and only Sony Ericsson could boast of cameras.

    Moreover, auto-voicing appeared only in the third generation, that is, in the 3GS. Then it was just cool and the quality of the photos has improved a lot.

    • 2G: 2MP rear camera;
    • 3G: 2 MP rear camera;
    • 3Gs: 3MP rear camera;

    According to the list, you can see that there was no question of any front camera. The word selfie hasn't been coined yet and you wouldn't see people taking pictures of themselves and food.

    Camera on iPhone 4, 4S

    The next two phones have made an incredible leap and now millions of photos will be taken on the cameras of these two phones.

    These two phones already have front cameras. The main cameras got flashes, and the iPhone 4s even got face recognition.

    • 4: 5MP rear camera, front VGA (0.3MP);
    • 4S: 8 MP rear camera, front VGA (0.3 MP).

    At night, the photos were not very good and the flash is unlikely to help here. But during the day, the iPhone 4s takes very impressive photos even today.

    Camera on iPhone 5, 5S, 5C

    In the next generation, there were no particular jerks in pixels, and the phone acquired a very similar pitchfork to the previous generation, only with a larger screen.

    Little by little, selfies begin to appear, because just in 2010, Instagram already appears. No wonder these models have improved the front camera.

    • 5: rear camera 8 MP, front 1.2 MP;
    • 5S: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
    • 5C: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera.

    The iPhone 5S introduces dual flash, which should improve night photography. In general, the quality of photos does not change much compared to the previous generation.

    Camera on iPhone 6, 6S, 6 PLUS, 6S PLUS

    Still, there comes a time when Apple starts producing shovels. It seems that cameras should instantly get more megapixels, but this only happens in the 6S generation.

    In iPhone 6, the camera has not changed much, everything is about the same as in 5s. But the big screen is starting to show its advantages and viewing photos is much more fun and convenient.

    • 6, 6 PLUS: 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
    • 6S, 6S PLUS: 12MP rear camera, 5MP front camera.

    Many years later, the number of megapixels only changes in the iPhone 6S. Finally, you can take even better selfies with a semblance of a flash.

    Camera on iPhone SE, 7, 7 PLUS

    So, the next update of the iPhone pleased us with cameras and now in the younger version we have a stabilizer, and in the older version now instead of one, as many as two cameras.

    There are many features that help you take clearer photos in the dark. The photos are simply amazing.

    • SE: 12MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera;
    • 7: 12MP rear camera, 7MP front camera;
    • 7 PLUS: 12MP dual rear camera, 7MP front camera.

    As a bonus, I would like to mention the previously released iPhone SE in the update. This is an updated 5S with fillings from 6S, if anyone has not heard. His cameras are also on this list.

    Camera on iPhone X, 8, 8 PLUS

    These smartphones again delight us with a very high quality of shooting. If you look at the number of megapixels, the situation is the same as last year.

    However, a lot of work has been done and now we have a leader. It is a ten and its telephoto aperture is now ƒ / 2.4. For comparison, 7 and 8 Plus have ƒ / 2.4.

    • X: rear camera - dual, 12 MP with wide-angle and telephoto lens, front - 7 MP;
    • 8: rear camera 12 MP, front 7 MP;
    • 8 PLUS: rear camera - dual, 12 MP with wide-angle and telephoto lens, front 7 MP.

    Perhaps the most striking update was the ability to record 4K on all models. The younger model and the second camera in X are now with stabilization.

    Now you know which cameras are in all generations of Apple smartphones. The quality of the cameras is very excellent and in the future, we will not need ordinary cameras at all, except perhaps only for professional shooting.
