Removable media based on flash memory (such as usb-flash drives, SD, MMC, MS,XD, MD, CompactFlash, etc) due to a number of features (hot-plug connection, static, moisture, temperature, mechanical stress during transportation , natural wear due to the limited number of read / write cycles) fail relatively often. And if simple defects like "not detected", "writing errors" are detected relatively easily, then the diagnosis of more complex defects is a very non-trivial task. To solve this problem, the flashnul utility was created.

No need to rush. There are software solutions for recovering non-working flash drives. Most of these programs do a good job of this task.

This list contains several utilities that are most effective in helping you solve the problem.

A small utility with a set of functions for restoring inoperable flash drives. The program has a simple and intuitive interface, which, even without the support of the Russian language, makes it one of the best tools for working with flash drives.

HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool scans flash drives, fixes errors, and formats them in different file systems.

HDD Low Level Format Tool

Another small but powerful flash drive repair program. The utility, using low-level formatting, is able to restore inoperable drives to life.

Unlike the previous representative, it can work not only with flash drives, but also with hard drives.

The program provides full drive information and S.M.A.R.T data for HDD. It formats both quickly, with overwriting only the MBR, and deep, with the deletion of all data.

Another representative of software for working with "dead" flash drives.

Flash Doctor is a program for recovering a transcend flash drive. Scans disks for errors and recovers using low-level formatting.

Works not only with flash drives, but also with hard drives.

A distinctive feature of Flash Doctor is the function of creating disk images. The created images, in turn, can be written to flash drives.

EzRecover

The easiest program to recover a kingston flash drive on our list. But its simplicity is only external. In fact, EzRecover is able to consider flash drives that are not detected in the system and recover them.

EzRecover brings back to life flash drives labeled "Security Device" and/or zero volume. For all its inconspicuousness, the utility copes with its tasks perfectly.

Here is a list of utilities for recovering flash drives. Each has its own characteristics, but they all do their job perfectly.

Step by step instructions for USB flash drive recovery in which I will try to answer the question in an accessible language How to recover a flash drive independently and without much effort.

It happens that you help a person, and then he will tell everyone that you are so good and there are already crowds of people who are thirsty for help. Something like this happened when I restored several flash drives colleagues.

Now the people carry not only their flash drives, but also flash drives their friends, acquaintances and relatives. Well, at least someone else dragged a bottle of beer or a cookie - figurines.

It's not difficult for me to help, but when I suggest that you learn how to do all this yourself, you refuse. I'll just make those next time. If you don't want to learn, move on.

With the lyrics, I end here and go directly to the topic of the post ..

If your flash drive stopped determined like a drive, doesn't want to be formatted, does not allow information to be written down or something else happened to it, BUT it does not have mechanical damage, then you should know that not everything is lost. Most likely glitched controller and it will take a little fiddling with it. In time, this procedure takes approximately 5 minutes.

I must say right away that there is no universal programs for recovery all varieties flash drives. You will need to find exactly the one that can work with the controller of your flash drives.

First, we need to define VID And PID non-working flash drives.

Determine VID and PID for flash drive recovery

Plug in flash drive to the computer and run Device Manager. StartRun - mmc devmgmt.msc.

Then go to section USB Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

Find yours in the list flash drive. Usually, everything flash drives have a name USB mass storage device.

Press the right key on the device and open Properties.

Go to tab Intelligence.

In the drop-down list, select the item Instance Code device or Equipment codes (ID).

In this window we see PID And VID.

Finding a flash drive recovery program

We go to the FlashBoot.ru website and enter the received VID And PID.

Click on the button Search.

In the results, we are looking for our manufacturer and model of the flash drive. I have this Kingston DataTraveler 2.0.

In the right column there will be the name of the program we need or a link to it.

Everything. Now search Google for the program by name or download from the link provided. Launch and follow the instructions. Usually, in such programs for recovery there is only one button, so you should not have any questions.

That's all!

Any questions - ask in the comments.

Looking for data recovery Mirex flash drives? Have problems with the performance or errors of the Mirex flash drive caused data loss? Is such data always lost forever or are there ways by which it can still be recovered? Repair the storage media, correct errors that cause malfunctions, and recover lost data yourself.

If you need to recover a hard or external drive (HDD, SSD or SSHD), memory card or USB flash drive, you first need to connect the device to your computer. If you want to recover data from a car recorder, phone, photo or video camera, audio player, you must remove the memory card and connect it to a desktop computer. You can try these instructions for the internal memory of devices, if after connecting you see your device in the My Computer folder as a USB flash drive.

Mirex flash drive data repair and recovery

Step 1: Mirex flash drive recovery software

In cases where files have been deleted from the Mirex flash drive and it is not possible to return them using standard operating system tools, the most effective way is to use Hetman Partition Recovery.

For this:

  • Download the program, install and run it.
  • By default, the user will be prompted to use File recovery wizard. Click the button "Further", the program will prompt you to select the drive from which you want to recover files.
  • Double click on the disk and select an analysis type. Specify "Full analysis" and wait for the disk scanning process to complete.
  • "Reestablish".
  • Choose one of the suggested ways to save files. Do not save recovered files to the drive from which these files were deleted - they can be overwritten.

Step 2: Recover data from Mirex flash drive after formatting or deleting a partition

Recover files after formatting

Looking for how to recover Mirex flash drive files after formatting? Follow instructions:

  • , install and run it. After launching, in the left column of the main window, the program will detect and display all physical disks, as well as available and inaccessible partitions and areas on disks.
  • Double click on the disk or area files from which you want to recover and select the type of analysis.
  • Select "Full analysis" and wait for the disk scanning process to complete.
  • After the scanning process is completed, you will be provided with files to restore. Select the ones you want and click the button "Reestablish".
  • Choose one of the suggested ways to save files. Do not save files to the drive from which these files were deleted - they can be overwritten.

Recover deleted partition data

Looking for how to recover files from a deleted partition of a Mirex flash drive? Follow instructions:

  • Download Hetman Partition Recovery, install and run it. After starting in the left column of the main window, the program will detect and display all physical disks, flash drives or memory cards. The list of physical devices is located after the logical drives.
  • Double click on the physical device from which the partition was removed.
  • Specify "Full analysis" and wait for the scanning process to complete.
  • After the scan, you will be provided with recovery files. Select the ones you want and click the button "Reestablish".
  • Choose one of the suggested ways to save files. Do not save files to the drive from which they were deleted - they can be overwritten.

Restore system partition data on another computer

If the system partition is lost, it is impossible to boot the computer. That's why:

  • Remove or disconnect the hard drive with the lost system partition from the computer.
  • Connect this HDD to another computer.
  • Make sure your hard drive is correctly recognized by the other computer.
  • Carry out the actions indicated in the previous paragraph.

Restore the system partition using LiveCD

If it is not possible to connect a hard drive with a lost or damaged system partition to another computer, you can restore such a partition by starting the computer using LiveCD, an alternative portable version of the operating system. For this:

  • Find and download the LiveCD that suits you to a CD/DVD or USB stick.
  • Connect the LiveCD to your computer and turn it on. The computer will automatically boot from the LiveCD.
  • Copy the files from the system partition to another storage medium (often an external hard drive).

Step 3: SMART parameters of the Mirex flash drive

Major hard drive manufacturers include S.M.A.R.T. to your hard drives. S.M.A.R.T. analyzes many mechanical attributes. The analysis of many of them makes it possible to fix the incorrect operation of the disk until the moment of its complete failure, as well as the reason for its failure.

But even though S.M.A.R.T. allows you to identify future problems, most of them cannot be prevented. So S.M.A.R.T. is a technology that often serves as a warning that a drive is about to fail. S.M.A.R.T. values cannot be fixed, and there is no need to waste time on it.

Each hard drive manufacturer sets a threshold for a particular operation. Under normal circumstances, this threshold is never exceeded. Otherwise, we run into an error.

There are 256 values, each of which has its own ID. Some errors and limit values are critical. They don't have a solution. The only solution is to replace the hard drive as soon as such an error is detected.

Critical SMART errors have no way to fix them. If you do not replace the hard drive, then the error window will appear again and again. The only justified action in this case would be to save data from still available disk sectors. If the error warning comes true, the disk will become inaccessible to any of the programs. Therefore, it is necessary to take steps to save your data.

Step 4: Restore file system of Mirex flash drive

Format the media

If it is not possible to determine the file system of the Mirex flash drive, format the device.

The file system of the Mirex flash drive is defined as RAW

Sometimes the operating system cannot determine the structure of the file system (for example, FAT or NTFS). If you look at the properties of such a device, then its file system will be defined as RAW. In this case, Windows prompts you to format the drive.

There are utilities that specialize in RAW disk recovery, but we recommend choosing a universal solution - Hetman Partition Recovery. This function is included in it as an additional one, you only need to launch the program and run the analysis of such a disk.

In some cases, the file system of a Mirex flash drive can be restored using the command CHKDSK.

  1. Run command line on behalf of administrator.
  2. Enter command “chkdsk D: /f”(instead of D: - enter the letter of the desired drive) and press ENTER.
  3. After running the command, the process of checking and fixing errors on the disk or device will start, this can return the file system to working capacity.

Step 5:

If a USB flash drive, memory stick, or any other type of storage media is not working properly, wiping the disk and its partitions with the “Clean” command and the Diskpart tool can be one way to solve problems. This tool will fix errors if the device cannot be formatted or its size is determined incorrectly.

  1. Run command line on behalf of administrator.
  2. Run command DISKPART.
  3. Display a list of drives with the command LIST DISK and determine the disk number to be restored.
  4. Select the required disk: SELECT DISK#(instead of # - enter the disk number).
  5. Run command CLEAN.
  6. Create a partition on the cleaned disk and format it with the desired file system.

Step 6:

Scan the drive for errors and bad sectors and fix them

Run a scan of all hard disk partitions and try to fix any errors found. For this:

  • Open folder "This computer".
  • Right-click on the drive with the error.
  • Select Properties / Service / Verify(in section Checking the disk for errors).

As a result of scanning, errors found on the disk can be corrected.

  • Open folder "This computer" and right click on the drive.
  • Select Properties / Service / Optimize(in section Disk optimization and defragmentation).
  • Select the drive you want to optimize and click Optimize.

Note. In Windows 10, disk defragmentation / optimization can be configured in such a way that it will be carried out automatically.

Step 7: Mirex flash drive repair

It is important to understand that any of the ways to fix Mirex flash drive errors is just their virtual elimination. It is often impossible to completely eliminate the cause of the error, as the device needs to be repaired.

To fix a breakdown or replace parts and microcircuits of a Mirex flash drive, you can contact a service center. The cost of work in this case will be many times higher than the cost of a failed disk or memory card. It makes sense to do this only if you need to recover important data.

Step 8: Mirex flash drive backup

There are several solutions for backing up data:

  1. Built-in operating system applications. Microsoft Windows provides data backup methods that involve storing files and data on external or built-in storage media. All modern versions of Windows already include the ability to back up essential files or the entire hard drive if necessary. The features provided by Windows are complete and stand-alone, and are designed to ensure that you do not need to use third-party services or programs.
  2. Copying data manually. You can always use the old proven way to back up data - manually copying data to an external storage medium. This is long, but if you work with a small amount of data, this solution may be quite acceptable for you.
  3. Online services. Recently, the most modern way of backing up data has become increasingly popular - these are numerous online services. Companies that provide online backup of your files. A small background application installed on the computer creates copies of the necessary data and saves them on a remote server. However, the volumes provided by such companies for storing your files in the free version do not allow them to be used as a comprehensive solution. Often the space offered for backing up data does not exceed 10 GB, so there is no need to talk about creating a backup copy of the entire hard drive. Such services are rather aimed at backing up a separate number of files.
  4. Create a disk image. This is the most complete data backup solution for advanced users. This method involves the use of a third-party program to create an image of the entire disk, which can be deployed if necessary on another storage medium. With this solution, you can in a short period of time get access to all the data that was on the disk at the time of its backup: documents, programs and media files.

How to restore an SD card or USB flash drive if the computer does not see them, does not read or write data? Problems with flash drives are rarely caused by normal wear and tear. More often, the causes of problems with them are ignoring the rules of safe removal of the device by users, experimenting with various software in which these flash drives are involved, as well as their initially lousy quality. Below we will consider a list of possible actions carried out in the Windows environment that can solve the problem, unless, of course, the cause lies in a mechanical failure. And we, friends, will go from simple to complex.

  • Note: below we will only talk about restoring the performance of flash drives, but not about saving the data stored on them. This is a separate topic, and there is a site on this subject. Most of the methods for recovering SD cards and flash drives suggested below will result in the loss of their data.

1. Hardware lock

SD cards, MicroSD adapters and flash drives can be hardware-protected from writing data or completely blocked even for reading. These devices have a lock switch, which must be set to the "Unlocked" position accordingly.

2. Problems not related to the drives themselves

The cause of problems with SD cards and flash drives can be the Windows security policy. You need to find out if access to removable drives (in full or in part of writing data to them) is blocked by the computer administrator. You also need to check the card reader or USB ports of the computer. If everything is in order with the latter - the card reader reads other SD cards, but there are still problems with the flash drive, no matter how you connect it to other USB ports, let's move on.

3. Windows Explorer

Standard formatting using Windows Explorer can help in simple cases such as unsuccessful data writing to a USB flash drive. Or when for some reason a smartphone, tablet, camera or other device cannot handle this operation with respect to SD cards. In any of the current versions of Windows, in the Explorer window on the drive, we call the context menu, click "Format".

We leave the original file system and first try a quick format.

If it fails, we repeat the operation, but with full formatting (uncheck the quick one).

4. Windows Disk Management

You can try to format the format in disk management. To launch this tool, in the system search field, enter:

diskmgmt.msc

In the disk management window, focusing on the size of the drive, we are looking for it among the drives connected to the computer. And in the context menu called on it, we start formatting.

You can immediately choose full formatting.

If your flash drive has a partition structure like a hard drive, you need to delete each of those partitions. This is done using the option in the context menu "Delete volume".

And then, in place of the resulting unallocated space, you need to create a single partition. To do this, in the context menu on this very unallocated space, we launch the “Create a new volume” operation and follow the instructions of the step-by-step wizard.

5. Programs for low-level formatting

Regular formatting tools may not help in difficult cases, for example, when flash drives are displayed (in the same Explorer or Disk Management) as unrecognized devices with the RAW file system. The latter means that either the Windows environment does not understand the file system of the drive, or there is no file system as such in principle. Actually, this is what causes problems with a flash drive or SD card when it works on other devices, with other operating systems. In such cases, third-party Windows programs designed for the so-called low-level formatting will help restore the USB flash drive.

In fact, low-level formatting is a procedure that is carried out either in the production environment of flash device manufacturers, or in serious narrow-profile services. Various Windows software that claims this kind of operation actually performs the usual full format, but by mechanisms different from those used by the operating system. Such programs are good at dealing with flash drive problems if these problems occur at the file system level. Let's look at two of these programs.

HDD Low Level Format Tool

http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/

The shareware portable program HDD Low Level Format Tool can format various types of storage media, in particular, SD cards and USB flash drives. After unpacking the archive with the program, run it, agree to the license terms.

Choose free use.

Directly in the program window, specify the problematic drive and click "Continue".

We confirm the decision.

We are waiting for the operation to complete and check the operation of the media.

SDFormatter

http://flashboot.ru/files/file/355

The completely free little program SDFormatter is another tool for so-called low-level formatting. Works with both SD cards and USB sticks. We install SDFormatter into the system, launch it, in the "Drive" column we indicate the problematic flash drive. Click "Format".

The program wants to make sure the seriousness of our intentions, click "OK.

Asks not to touch the drive while the operation is being carried out.

Upon completion, we test a USB flash drive or SD card. If it doesn’t help, repeat the operation with the settings for a complete rewriting of sectors (nothing more than a full format). Press "Option", select "Full (OverWrite)". And also click on "Format" at the bottom.

If using the above methods it was not possible to reanimate the flash drive, and it is still under warranty, you need to stop at this stage. And take no further action, except to contact the seller with a request to replace the device. All the actions that are described below should be resorted to only when, in fact, there is nothing to lose. The instructions below apply to USB sticks, SD cards, and MicroSD cards. However, in the case of the latter, the probability of recovery is extremely small.

6. D-Soft Flash Doctor

D-Soft Flash Doctor performs the so-called low-level formatting, and along the way it also detects bad sectors (cells). Well, and, accordingly, knows how to block them and replace them with backup ones. The program can help when flash drives or SD cards have difficulty reading individual files that have fallen on bad sectors. The program is free and portable. I did not find the official site, but it can be freely downloaded on the Internet.

In the D-Soft Flash Doctor window, the first thing to do is run a scan for errors.

In my case, there were no damaged (broken) sectors.

But if in your case, friends, the scan results are different, and bad sectors are found, we start the recovery process.

The window for this operation promises that the process will not last longer than 10 minutes, but in fact, remapping bad sectors on a drive with a capacity of more than 4 GB can take quite a long time. So it is better to run the recovery operation at night.

7. Flashing the memory controller

Programs for the so-called low-level formatting or their analogues, in any other form declaring the function of resuscitation of all types of SD cards and / or USB flash drives, turn out to be powerless in the event of a software failure of the controller when it needs to be flashed. This problem may have different symptoms, but more often it is either the computer does not completely see the drive, or it sees, it can even read data, but cannot format it by any means. In particular, due to write protection, despite the fact that the drive is not blocked by hardware.
