Hockey action ctrl x. Keyboard shortcuts

Basic Windows shortcuts 1

So, in fact, it is. When an experienced user switches from one program to another, it is rarely difficult for him to master the new interface, new possibilities. As a rule, everything that worked on old or other versions also works successfully with new software systems.

What is the reason? Very simple. The main focus is on the "friendliness" and comprehensibility of the interface. Once in demand, proven technologies for using programs rarely change.

One of these kinds of tricks - "hotkeys" in text editors such as MS Word, MS WordPad, OpenOffice.org and many others - requires a separate discussion due to their regular use.

There are several common keyboard shortcuts for manipulating files from applications. These are Ctrl + N, Ctrl + O, Ctrl + S, Ctrl + Q. Let's analyze the purpose of each combination separately.

To create a new document, be it a text, sound file or video, press Ctrl + N in the appropriate program or select the desired menu item. To open an existing file, use the Ctrl + O combination.

Despite the possibility of autosave, computer malfunctions can become a "headache" if the edited data is irretrievably lost. Therefore, it is good practice to periodically press Ctrl + S. This command saves the changes made. Sometimes there is a need to save data to another file, then the F12 key comes to the rescue.

Printing a document can be called by the command Ctrl + P. Try this combination and you will see that it is much easier than searching the menu with the mouse for the required command.

And, of course, to finish working with the program - a pleasant end to the working day - there are many options for hot keys. You can, for example, press Alt + F4 or Ctrl + W, which are standard commands for closing an application, or you can use a specially provided menu command or its hot key - Ctrl + Q (in OpenOffice.org).

The name itself - a text editor - implies a set and editing of texts. Therefore, it is worth dwelling in more detail on general-purpose commands for editing documents.

Firstly, these are the standard operations "Cut", "Paste", "Copy". Although they are described in all guides and articles (even on our website), I consider it necessary to repeat myself here.

So, to cut the selected object to the clipboard, press Ctrl + X or Shift + Del; to copy the selected object to the clipboard - Ctrl + C or Ctrl + Ins; to paste an object from the clipboard - Ctrl + V or Shift + Ins.

Now let's talk about such an interesting feature of MS Word as working with vertical blocks of text. To understand what this is, consider an example where vertical and horizontal blocks are compared:

As a rule, most users do not even know what vertical boxes are and that all the same editing operations are valid for them as for ordinary horizontal ones.

To switch to the vertical block selection mode, press Ctrl + Shift + F8. Only then select the block with the mouse or with the arrow keys. You can act differently: select a block of text and simultaneously hold down the Alt key. Experiment with vertical blocks. I am sure that they will be useful to you someday and will help you save a lot of time and effort.

Often the results of the edits do not bring satisfaction from the work done, and you want to go back one step, or even a few steps back. To do this, press Ctrl + Z. If you need to repeat the changes made, then there is a very convenient command - Ctrl + Y.

And finally: when working with documents, you sometimes have to change the scale of the text. There is also a special menu item for this, but it is much more convenient to turn the mouse wheel and simultaneously hold down the Ctrl key. Try it, I think you will like this simple trick.

Let's summarize:

file operations: Ctrl + N, Ctrl + O, Ctrl + S, F12, Ctrl + P;

work with the clipboard: Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V, Ctrl + Z, Ctrl + Y, Shift + Ins, Shift + Del, Ctrl + Ins, Ctrl + selection - for a vertical block of text;

change the scale of displaying text: Ctrl + rotate the mouse wheel.

The document should look beautiful, so that it is pleasant to look at it, so that all tables are neat, the most important thoughts are highlighted, so that there is nothing superfluous on the page and at the same time there are no unnecessary empty spaces. The ideal is not achievable, but there are a number of tricks that make it easier to change the document, so that by trial and error, at least a little, but closer to the cherished perfection.

Font effects play an important role in the perception of text. Let's consider some of them in more detail.

To underline a word, you need to select it, and then simultaneously press the key combination Ctrl + U. In this case, all characters of the selected text will be underlined, as well as spaces between them. To underline only words, use Ctrl + Shift + U. To select a block of text in italics, you can use the combination Ctrl + I. If, to increase clarity, it was decided to highlight some phrases in bold, then for this there is a convenient alternative to the mouse - Ctrl + B.

It is often necessary that the phrase be typed in capital letters. The easiest way to do this is by immediately typing in uppercase. However, it is not always possible to do everything and always do it right, so a special command was developed to translate the selected text fragment into upper or lower case - Shift + F3.

All key combinations described above work as switches. This means that to return to the previous text input mode, you must press the same key combination that changed the standard mode. For example, the command Ctrl + U will set the font attribute responsible for the underscore. To remove this attribute and return to normal style, you must press Ctrl + U again.

Notes and footnotes are an essential part of any creative work. Of course, you can use the menu item of the same name to insert a footnote, but it is much easier to do this by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F.

It is convenient to use Ctrl + Enter to insert a page break.

Some things can only be done by using the mouse and keyboard at the same time. The most common example is smooth resizing of table cells. This is achieved by resizing the cell with the mouse and simultaneously pressing the Alt key.

It's no secret that text looks much better on a computer screen or in printed form when it is justified. This alignment is achieved by increasing the length of the space between words. However, this behavior is not always justified. For example, you need to type a sentence that contains the surname and initials. If you put a simple space between them, then when aligning the initials can be far away

from the last name, which is not correct. To eliminate this effect, there is a special character - a fixed space. The easiest way to paste it is by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Space at the same time.

So, let's summarize.

to change the font effect, use the commands: Ctrl + I, Ctrt + B, Ctrl + U, Ctrl + Shift + W;

to convert letters to upper case: Shift + F3;

to set a fixed space: Ctrl + Shift + Space;

to break pages: Ctrl + Enter.

It is impossible to know all the keyboard shortcuts for quick access in the menu, to simplify the work with basic text editing operations. But the main thing is different. The main thing is to learn how to use the set of commands that are used more often than others. Each person will have a unique set. Of course, there will be similarities, but in general, everyone will plan their work with documents differently. Through trial and error, you can find how you can quickly make the same type of operation in order to save time and effort.

Basic Windows 2 keyboard shortcuts

Working in Windows can be made more efficient and faster if you use not only the mouse, but also use "hot keys" - special key combinations designed to simplify and speed up work. For example, few people know that the very often used Explorer (which can be without it) is launched by pressing Win + E at the same time. Agree, this is much more convenient!

Note

The Win key is located between the Ctrl and Alt keys on the left side (it has the Windows logo on it).

The Menu key is to the left of the right Ctrl.

The combination "key" + "key" means that you must first press the first key, and then, while holding it, the second.

Hello dear readers of the blog site! Probably, many users, even beginners, are aware of the existence of the so-called hot keys in Windows OS (they are also called fast, which reflects the essence).

But only a few take full advantage of the advantage they provide when working with applications, files () or when working on the Internet through browsers (in this article I will mention Chrome, Opera, Mazila and IE as the most popular).

I think that the lion's share of readers have a good idea of what this is about. But, keeping in mind that this blog was originally created for those who are just starting their difficult path to mastering modern technologies, I will nevertheless give some clarifications.

Hot keys are a combination, or a combination, of certain buttons on the computer keyboard, which are pressed in a strict sequence (one after the other, and not all together), which allows you to expand the functionality of the operating system, providing you with the actions you need.

Before moving on to specifics, I note that the hotkeys provided below are mostly universal and are valid not only for Windows, but also for other operating systems (for example, Linux). Therefore, the material will be useful to almost everyone.

Basic Windows 7 keyboard shortcuts

For a better perception of the material, we will take as a basis the keyboard combinations implemented in the seven. And just below I will try to present in addition the keyboard shortcuts that appeared in the 8th and 10th modifications of this operating system. All keyboard shortcuts are divided into the following categories in terms of functionality:

  • local - activate the desired function only if the window of the software intended for them is open;
  • global (for the program) - work in any window, but are intended for the corresponding program;
  • global (for the operating system) - they act in any window.

It is worth noting here that the developers of this or that software often set their own hotkeys by default for various operations and commands. In many cases, the user has the opportunity to independently choose those combinations that are convenient for him. You just have to keep in mind that the same combinations for different programs can lead to a conflict of global software hotkeys.

So, one of the most important for Windows is the global combination Ctrl + Alt + Delete, which allows you to go to the menu from where we can lock the computer, change the user, log out, change the password and start the Task Manager.

You can also restart your computer, set hibernation or turn off the machine completely, if you select the desired item from the drop-down menu of the red button in the lower right corner.

By the way, the Dispatcher can be directly activated via Ctrl + Shift + Esc... With its help, we disable this or that operation (remove the task), causing the "freeze" or causing the unstable operation of the system.

A very useful combination is Win + R which opens the Run command dialog box. In a special field, you can enter the name of any program, folder, document or web resource that you want to open.

Below I present a table with the main shortcuts for Windows that help speed up the work at the computer ( Win- the key with the image of the Windows logo):

As I said, these are basic hotkeys that we can use in Windows 7 to speed up our work and save time. For those who are used to doing everything thoroughly, I give a link to the source, where their complete register is presented.

Find and configure keyboard shortcuts in Windows 7

Basically, in the previous paragraph, I gave a direct link to a complete list of all keyboard shortcuts. Much the same can be obtained by using Help from MicroSoft. To get it, type the combination on the keyboard Win + F1 and enter the corresponding request in the search field. If you check the "Local Help" below, then you don't even need an Internet connection:

From the received heap of results, choose the one you need. And now let's see how you can arrange a change of keyboard shortcuts in your own image and likeness to call any program, or install, if it was not assigned by default.

So, let's see how to set up hotkeys on Windows 7. In order to assign them, select the shortcut of the required program on the desktop and call the "Properties" item, where you insert the cursor into the field opposite the "Shortcut" option:

If the line contains "no", then there are no hotkeys installed for this program. To assign them, press any number or letter on the keyboard, as a result a new combination will be entered into the line (Ctrl + Alt will be added automatically):

Click "OK", and that's all, in general. Now this program will start when you type the keyboard shortcuts installed for it. In the future, if you decide to change the combination again, proceed in a similar way. To disable the previously assigned combination, enter the cursor opposite the "Shortcut" and press the "Backspace" key.

Keyboard shortcuts for Windows 8.1

Next, we will supplement the obtained information and try to build a table with the combinations that were added in the eight to optimize work on the computer and save users' time. Of course, I will not give the entire list, as it is very impressive. Let's dwell on the main ones:

Hotkeys Action corresponding to the key combination
Win + F1 Opening Windows Help
Win + Home Minimize (maximize) all windows
Win + C Call charms
Win + F Search charms for finding files
Win + H Open the Share charm
Win + I Open the Settings charm
Win + K Open the Devices charm
Win + O Lock screen orientation view (portrait or landscape)
Win + Q Call the "Search" charm to find data for all resources or within the boundaries of an open application (if it supports this option)
Win + S Miracle button "Search" in order to find information in Windows and on the Internet
Win + W Call the Search charm to get options
Win + Z Show commands available in a specific application (if any)
Win + Tab Switch between the last apps you used
Win + Space Switch input language and keyboard layout
Win + Ctrl + Space Revert to the previously installed input language
Win + Plus Zoom in with a magnifier
Win + Minus zoom out with magnifier

Keyboard shortcuts in Windows 10

Well, in conclusion, we will consider some of the shortcut keys that are present in the latest version of the Windows 10 operating system. The bulk of keyboard shortcuts are still based on Windows 7. But there are also those that activate fundamentally new options, and functions some are slightly modified. We will consider them by examining the next table below:

I emphasize again that the above table does not fully reflect all the combinations, but only those keyboard shortcuts that were added by the developers. Similar to the seven, I direct you to a page with a complete list of combinations for Windows 10.

Browser hotkeys (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE)

Now we will analyze some combinations that may be useful to you when working in an open browser window. In principle, the combinations below, which I often use, work quite well for themselves, although there are exceptions, which I will discuss below in the narrative process.

There are just some small nuances, which we'll talk about along the way. At the same time, we will accept by default that Windows is installed on the computer as the most popular OS among users. But, as I noted above, the lion's share of keyboard shortcuts will work in other operating systems.

So let's get started. Sometimes it happens that you accidentally closed the tab with the desired web resource. In this case, you have to waste precious time trying to find the web page again, especially if you did not have time to bookmark it. That's when keyboard shortcuts come to the rescue. Ctrl + Shift + T that make it possible to open the closed tab that you turned off last.

It can be very convenient, without bothering yourself with unnecessary movements of the mouse, to immediately move the cursor to the address bar of the browser. To do this, type Alt + D and then immediately enter the URL of the website you want to go to. If you are on a specific page of a site, then when you press these hot keys, the URL of this resource will be highlighted.

When typing Ctrl + E we give the command to search the browser for information on the entered search query, and not on the URL of the web resource. This is indicated by a question mark in the address bar of the same Chrome:

There are some features worth mentioning here. Let's try to enter the website URL directly (I have Google as the default search):

After that, we get detailed data on the sought resource with all possible main addresses of its web pages, links from other resources where there is a mention of it, reviews, etc.

Now we can just enter the domain name () of the desired site:

In this case, all information on the search results page will be similar to the previous option, but the links will be presented in a slightly different sequence and form.

Some differences will also be observed when searching in Yandex. If you enter the address (c) or the domain of the site according to the standard template (without Ctrl + E), then you will simply go to its main page. Like this. This keyboard shortcut works correctly in, and. But it doesn't seem to work, at least not yet.

Often we need to get the source code of the page, which is called using the combination Ctrl + U... Moreover, in Google Chrome and Opera the code will appear in a new tab, which is very convenient. But when using Mozilla Firefox and IE - in a new window, which, at least for me, causes discomfort. It's good that my working web browser is Chrome.

Keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A makes it possible to highlight all the elements on a web page. It helps when you need to quickly copy the content of a web page, which sometimes takes up a decent amount, and it is extremely inconvenient to do it with a mouse.

For example, sometimes I test the correctness of the micro-markup of a particular blog web page in Google's Structured Data Testing Tool, where you can insert the HTML code of the page. This can come in handy for some other cases as well. Then I just press these hotkeys to select all the text and then copy it.

By the way, you can copy the entire content or just a fragment of it to the clipboard using Ctrl + C, and paste the copied into a new location by pressing the keys Ctrl + V... By the way, there are cases when the use of hotkeys for copying and pasting is uncontested, since similar operations with a mouse are impossible.

Let's go further. If we are talking about finding certain fragments of text on the page (say, some word), then it is used special key F3, which causes the appearance of a search string into which you can enter the desired one. In Chrome, this line comes out at the top right:

In the line that appears, enter the desired word, part of it or a phrase. As a result, we instantly get the number of such fragments found on the page. Yellow stripes on the right will indicate those lines of text where this word or phrase is present.

To switch from one found and highlighted in yellow word to another, use the combinations Ctrl + G(to the next) and Ctrl + Shift + G(to the previous one). In this case, the sequence number is counted and the page scrolled to display its location.

Practically such a quick search in the text (it can also be used when writing an article in the editor) helps me a lot in SEO analysis of a freshly baked or edited article. Let's say, in order to remove too often duplicate keys.

By the way, in different browsers this line is located differently, although the search mechanism on the page remains the same. The form described above, as you understand, it takes in Google Chrome. In Opera it appears at the top left, and in Mozilla it appears at the bottom left. And only in Internet Explorer such a search, as far as I know, is not provided.

The next hotkey I would like to tell you about is Ctrl + F5... You are probably aware that using the F5 button causes the active page to reload. However, almost all site owners use caching to speed up them ().

By the way, many webmasters use for these purposes, which is one of the best in its class, so take note. In this case, upon request, users are not given the latest version of the web page, which may already contain some changes, but its cached copy.

So, to get the page not from the cache, but directly its latest version from the server, the key combination Ctrl + F5 is used. This is very convenient, including for viewing the changes made on your own site. In the following table you can choose the desired keyboard shortcut and their purpose when working in browsers:

Working with programs and the Windows operating system can be significantly accelerated if you use not only the mouse to enter data and control, but also use "hot keys" - special combinations and key combinations on the keyboard. Try to remember the hotkeys you use the most.

How do I learn to use the keyboard?

First of all, you need to know the meanings of the keyboard keys. But this is not enough to use the keyboard to its fullest. The most frequent actions are convenient to perform with keyboard shortcuts.

The keyboard is the main device for entering information into a computer. It can also be used to control a personal computer. The standard keyboard has 101 keys and 256 characters.

The keys are subdivided:

  • alphanumeric;
  • cursor control;
  • functional;
  • managers;
  • block of numeric keys.

Alphanumeric keys.

Allows you to enter various characters: letters, numbers, punctuation marks. These keys contain letters of the Latin and Russian (in the CIS countries) alphabet. Switching between languages in windows is carried out by a keyboard shortcut Alt + Shift (default on windows xp) or Ctrl + Shift (windows7).

Shortcuts or key combinations are pressed sequentially, while holding down the previous keys. Maximum possible up to 3 simultaneous pressing of hot keys.

Shift key allows you to enter capital letters in combination with alphabetic keys, and symbols depicted on numeric (and some alphabetic Latin alphabet) keys.

To enter only capital letters without Shift, press Caps Lock. The number keys do not apply. The corresponding light on the keyboard will come on.

They have different meanings in different programs, with the exception of the F1 button. In the vast majority of cases, it calls the help of the program or windows.

Many people will find it difficult to master the new interface of Windows 8 at first. The very first thing a user will encounter will be the difficulty of navigating MetroUI. This completely new interface does not have buttons for managing application windows, the necessary auxiliary panels are hidden in it, and so on. Another unusual innovation is the absence of the Start button on the familiar desktop. In this situation sometimes you just need to use Windows 8 hotkeys to interact with MetroUI... New keyboard shortcuts improve navigation around modern operating systems. Some of them provide invaluable assistance to users.

The first thing to understand is that Metro's user interface is nothing more than a modified and full-screen Start menu. When you turn on the PC, it boots up and sits on top of the familiar desktop. For convenience, the Metro main menu contains shortcuts for launching the most frequently used applications, however, setting Windows 8 hotkeys to work with individual applications, except for some system applications (such as file search), is not provided. When you launch one of the applications, the desktop will automatically open for the selected application to work. I am describing this so that you do not look for ways to automatically self-minimize Metro when you boot the OS.

Hopefully this list of Windows 8 keyboard shortcuts will help you get up to speed with the modern Metro experience faster and save you a lot of precious time. When using these keyboard shortcuts, there will be no need to constantly click the mouse when it is difficult to switch between windows, make settings and other frequent actions.
