What we didn't like was the mournful black bezel around the screen, as if Lenovo is trying to trick the consumer by making the bezels visually thinner. On the back of the phone, you can note the inscription LENOVO, the NFC logo, a camera lens with a flash under it, as well as inserts for antennas.

With the expected price tag, the Lenovo P2 will have to compete with more powerful smartphones like Huawei Honor 8 or even Xiaomi Mi5. In our opinion, the difference in performance cannot be called huge, it is noticeable only in the most demanding games.

Memory

The built-in memory of the Lenovo P2 smartphone is 32 GB. This will be enough for most users to store photos and various applications. In addition, you can always expand this capacity with a memory card up to 128 GB.

Peculiarities

Smartphone Lenovo P2 is running Android 6 and proprietary interface, which this time is not much different from the "naked" Android. Perhaps the company was so affected by the merger with Motorola. Bad news in that the Lenovo website lists the system version as "latest". The company is either not aware of Android 7, or is not going to rush to upgrade to the "seven".

Like most Lenovo smartphones, the P2 has 13 options to choose from. quick setup, and not the traditional 9 or 6. It is possible to use two accounts on one application. Individual Applications can be locked with a PIN, pattern or fingerprint.

There is a theme store, as well as the ability to change wallpapers and icons. The floating button function is configurable. This is similar to what we have seen in iOS and Xiaomi MIUI.

The user interface is nice and stable, it is comfortable for everyday use, there are no problems, and the animations are good.

Smartphone performance

In benckmark, the P2 scores 60,868, just short of the Redmi Note. For some reason, PC Mark Work closed three times without showing an error, but on real performance it doesn't affect.

Call and data quality is impeccable. The Lenovo P2 speaker produces not only loud, but also high-quality sound. The fingerprint scanner is not the fastest, but the owner is identified accurately.

The Lenovo P2 smartphone features a 13MP camera with a 21mm f/2.0 lens, phase-detection autofocus and dual LED flash. On the front is a 5 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The rear camera allows you to shoot video in 2160p or 1080p resolutions at 30 frames per second. The front can only shoot in 1080p.

Brightly lit subjects come out especially well, with colors balanced and accurate. When shooting indoors, detail is reduced, and in low light, image quality becomes mediocre. The HDR mode was supposed to help in theory, but it didn't do much in practice. Focusing is fast thanks to the phase system.

The P2 camera app offers several features and modes: Pro (manual), Panorama, Art nightscape, Aristic HDR, Fast-motion and Slow-motion. Smart is essentially auto mode shooting.

There are many settings that do not differ from those offered by other competitor smartphone cameras.

Lenovo P2 battery

Among the many modern smartphones with long battery life, Lenovo P2 is perhaps the best. The value for money is impressive, the only downside is the mediocre camera.

A model with 3 GB of RAM costs about 15,000 rubles, with 4 GB about 16,000 rubles. Compared with Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (4 GB RAM + 64 GB internal memory), it may seem that Note 4 offers less money best specifications, but the Lenovo P2 has a much larger battery.

Lenovo P2 is not small compared to other 5.5-inch smartphones, but it does not seem overly large either, including the thickness of 8.3 mm is perceived as acceptable. On the shelf next to devices with comparable screens, the hero of the review does not stand out in any way. In width and height, it turns out to be even smaller iPhone 7 plus.

Engineers have done great job, after all, it was necessary to fit into the usual case for phablets not only a decent stuffing, but also a huge battery.

The dark gray version of the device looks strictly, it is perceived as a business smartphone. In addition, there is no manufacturer's logo on the front panel, only a speaker grille and a Home key with a built-in fingerprint scanner. And, of course, the screen is right there.

Display

With a 5.5-inch Full HD resolution Lenovo P2 stands out by using a Super AMOLED panel with all the strong and weaknesses of this technology. The main advantage, as always, is the deepest black color. Level maximum brightness sufficient, and at least small for the dead of night, but a special "night" mode solves this problem. Illumination is uniform.

The tone is slightly cold, but this does not affect the perception of the picture in any way: the deviation is purely aesthetic and can even be perceived as an advantage if warm screens are not to your liking.

The disadvantages of AMOLED become less noticeable every year, and here we can only note overflows (greenish, pinkish and bluish), if you look at the screen at an unnaturally high angle, as well as excessive color saturation. Last Feature it is not expressed much if you choose calm tones in the settings - the same photos are close to real color reproduction - but sensitive eyes get tired of this screen faster than from IPS matrices.

The display turned out strong point, this is one of the best matrices in smartphones priced at about UAH 10,000. good screen complements decent performance.

Performance

The Lenovo P2 is equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and 4 GB of RAM. The smartphone produces benchmark results comparable to other devices using the same chip:

Real-life use is also consistent: Asphalt 8 at maximum graphics settings works with almost no FPS squats, and Modern Combat 5 did not drop below 18 fps, in the most animated moments, while on average it stayed at the level of 22-25 fps, which is enough for comfortable game. Multitasking works perfectly, even these two projects remain in memory without knocking out at least three instant messengers and mail in parallel.

The device almost never loses frames in interfaces, including long lists with content loading, rare twitches are noticeable only in Google Play when you quickly scroll through the list of programs, but this standard problem for almost all non-flagship smartphones. The shell and other application software work great, even a little more cheerful than usual, at least at the level of sensations - it seems to the eye that the manufacturer has slightly accelerated the rendering of animations.

The rendering speed on Lenovo P2 and Nexus 6 levels out if you set the ratio to 0.5 on the latter. Similar method speed can be implemented on almost any Android smartphone, for this you need to access the developer menu and find the animation speed switch in the list:

Lenovo P2 is fast smartphone with sufficient performance for almost any task. But the power is hard to surprise now, especially considering that more and more smartphones appear on the Snapdragon 625. What is truly impressive is the autonomy.

Lenovo P2 is a continuation of a series of smartphones with capacious batteries, in current model used item with 5100mah. The impressive capacity says that the device cannot work a little by definition, but the result is raggedly impressive:

Camera

Lenovo P2 received a 13-megapixel main camera, which shows normal results for everyday use: colors are close to natural, on a cloudy day the frames are slightly cold, but still accurate, autofocus rarely fails, the speed of taking pictures is high. Pleased with the flexibility manual mode use - the manufacturer did not limit the owners to manual exposure and ISO, but also allows you to choose other parameters, including manually adjusting the focus.

Significant deficiencies the Lenovo P2 camera has two: the metering periodically makes mistakes (because of which the frames come out too dark) and the processing algorithms make the frames too sharp (the same “oversharp”). The latter effect makes the texture unnatural, especially on medium and long distance objects when they are in focus, however, many users perceive this effect as an advantage.

The device can record video in 4K resolution. There is no stabilization, the shaking effect is present at any recording quality, so it’s better not to shoot handheld at all or first find something immovable where you can lean on.

If you do not take into account the video recording, the camera is not bad, but for 10 thousand UAH there are better options.

Communications and sound

Smartphone offers full set radio modules, there were no complaints about the stability of work during testing, and Wi-Fi pleased with a longer range than many other devices, besides, it can work in the 802.11ac standard. The device has NFC, which is especially important in view of the payment through which you do not need a permanent Internet connection.

The external speaker is very loud, it easily competes with inexpensive external speakers and outshines most modern smartphones. About the same volume level is achieved on the Nexus 6, which has stereo speakers, although Lenovo has only one source of sound outputs. However, at the maximum, rattling is heard and an echo is noticeable, so you will have to limit yourself to 80% (which is still enough to clearly hear any sounds even in a noisy room).

The sound in the headphones is the same as most mid-range smartphones: high enough not to cause irritation, with a decent volume level. The device also comes with a standard headset, but its quality is quite mediocre for music, only suitable for conversations and podcasts.

Additional features

The shell allows you to use two independent profiles for programs, which is usually used in instant messengers in order to keep two accounts on one device. There is a high screen sensitivity for working with gloves, support for smart scenarios (activation of different profiles depending on time and place) and other usefulness:

The fingerprint scanner works very quickly, the accuracy is normal: 9 out of 10 times it recognizes the owner, including coping with wet hands. By long pressing this key, Now on Tap is activated, which logically follows from the experience of using most smartphones.

The scanner is at the same time a button that can be used for navigation: by touching, the “Back” action is performed, by pressing it is “Home”, and if you touch and hold your finger on it, a list of recently opened programs will be launched (functions are activated in the settings, while on-screen buttons can be hidden).

This scheme is used in most Meizu smartphones (mtouch button, we told in more detail in the review), she also appeared in - this convenient solution and a good compromise between the on-screen keys and the convenience of the front-facing fingerprint scanner, which still eats up space under the display.

Competitors

Lenovo P2 is available in Ukrainian retail in one modification: with 32 GB of permanent memory and 4 GB of RAM at a price of 9995 UAH. The device can be added external drive, but then you have to sacrifice a slot for a second SIM card.

The Sony Xperia XA Ultra is almost the only competitor from phablets: a 6-inch FullHD display, the thinnest bezels around the screen, a 16-megapixel front camera, the price is slightly lower - 8999 UAH. But the memory is 16 and 3 GB of permanent and operational, respectively, weaker Helio processor P10. And a complete failure in terms of autonomy - a battery with a capacity of only 2700 mAh gives less than a day of work with 3.5-4 hours of active screen.

It attracts with its appearance, the display quality and performance are parity with Lenovo P2, autonomy is twice as weak, and the price is 10,999 UAH. This smartphone is strong in convenience due to the 5.2-inch screen and thin frames around the body, and USB Type-C, and added protection from moisture and dust. If you look exclusively at phablets, you can choose the Galaxy A7 (2017) with a larger display and one and a half times weaker autonomy than Lenovo P2, but the price is even higher - UAH 11,999.

Available in Ukraine from 8500 UAH for the version with 32 GB of memory, however, it competes with Lenovo P2 only in price: one the most powerful processors in the Snapdragon 821 market, good camera, 5.15-inch IPS screen, but mediocre autonomy.

Good phablets with decent stuffing and long battery life on average price segment no, Lenovo P2 is actually the only one of its kind: anything close in autonomy with the same processor costs a third cheaper, but it is much inferior in the camera and the variety of radio modules, Moto Z Play is only 10-15% weaker in terms of operating time, but in other matters it almost does not differ, but at the same time it costs 13 thousand hryvnias.

Lenovo P2 received good display and is built on a decent hardware platform that fuses with all typical tasks in 2017. The smartphone looks good, it has NFC, a high-quality AMOLED matrix pleases, the camera does not upset either. But all this is little things in the background main feature- the coolest autonomy.

Lenovo P2 is ideal for people who are on the road for a long time, as well as those who do not like to charge their devices every day. I am glad that the huge battery did not spoil the appearance of the device - it looks the same as most 5.5-inch phablets. Only the thickness is a little too big by the standards of 2017, but 5100 mAh! You can't go against physics.

The company, in pursuit of energy optimization, has not forgotten about other aspects, thanks to which Lenovo P2 can be called the best phablet priced under UAH 10,000 on the market. Bravo!
