What you need to work android pay. Which phones support Android Pay

(2 estimates, average: 5,00 out of 5)

Android Pay is a contactless payment service made using Android devices of the latest generations. In fact, Android Pay is the same payment tool as a plastic card, only built into your mobile phone. And they will appear soon.

May 23, 2017 this service was officially launched in Russia. This caused a lot of excitement among smartphone holders. In our article we will tell you how to use the system, which banks support it, how to download and use Android Pay on your phone.

Which banks and cards support the system

In Russia, already from the beginning of the project, this project was supported immediately. ten banks... Almost all of them provide a large list of cards that work with the new payment system.

Supports Android Pay on all cards MasterCard and VISA, but do not support card type MAESTRO and Visa ELECTRON:

  • Sberbank,
  • MTS Bank,
  • Raiffeisen Bank

But there are banks that support the entire list of cards they produce... These banks include:

  • Alfabank,
  • VTB 24,
  • Tinkoff bank.

Some banks support all cards, except VISA:

  • Russian Standard Bank,
  • B&N Bank,
  • Rosselkhoz Bank.

Rocketbank's Mastercard cards have a cashback function (discounts on goods that are returned to the owner's account some time after the purchase). It is also a priority for other banks to work with refunds to the owners' accounts.

If your phone has Root access, then your phone will not be officially supported.

But on the Internet, there are already articles that describe in detail how you can use the Android pay service on devices with superuser rights (open Root access). Of course, everything is done informally, at your own peril and risk. So it's worth considering whether it is worth the risk of using your wallet through a device that may be open to other users through Root.

If there are no Root rights, then first you need to make sure that your smartphone has support for such a service as NFC... You must have the correct software version installed.

Android Pay supports devices with Android 4.4 or KitKat and later. Owners of wearable devices will also be able to use Android Pay, if the latter is installed Android Wear 2.0.

How to download and enable

In order to make your first purchase using Android Pay, you need to link a bank card that supports this service. A list of all cards and banks working with this service is indicated above. And only after that you can start working with the payment application itself.

Where can I download Android Pay? This can be done from the standard Google Play application, which is initially installed on any device. Downloading the app from other sources is strongly discouraged., as most likely, these will be fraudulent applications through which other people will gain access to your account.

After installing the application, you need to open it and follow the instructions exactly. When installing a payment service, you will need permissions to contacts, geolocation, identification data, device camera and some others, which will ensure the correct operation of Android Pay.

After the card is added and verified by the service, you can make purchases using your phone. But you need to be prepared for the fact that an error appears on Google Play that A ndroid Pay is not supported on your device, if android version doesn't meet requirements.

Since the service has just appeared, it will work most correctly on more popular and well-known devices. Over time, it will be adapted to all suitable devices, the manufacturers of which want to install this payment system together with the general software package from Google.

Where and how to pay via Android Pay

The payment service works with both real and virtual purchases. You can pay for the purchase of programs and games, as well as pay for digital goods within these applications.

In simple stores, you do not need to look for special devices through which payment for goods will be carried out, it is enough to use a regular terminal to pay using an Android device.

An interesting fact will be that with the help of the Android Pei system, you can already pay for trips to the metro. Payment for other types of transport is also considered in the future.

By the way, the Moscow Metro made a good present for those who will pay for travel through Androyd Pei: 50% discount from the fare. Thus, the happy owners of the payment system on their smartphones will pay only 20, but not 40 rubles.

System security

When paying, the virtual account number will be used, not the credit card number, therefore the payment through this payment system is confidential, and your information remains safe.

Some Russian citizens have encountered difficulties in setting up the application. When registering, you need to enter a postal code, the priority of which is not by city, but by region. An error appears when entering the zip code for Moscow. To solve this problem, an index of the regional city is entered or Moscow is selected as a region. Google has not yet resolved this issue.

Platform competition

Android Pay has been added to two well-known payment systems from Samsung and Apple. If you compare Android Pay with other payment systems, for example, Google devices have an advantage here. You do not need to have a fingerprint scanner on your phone to make payments. You can use a regular password and enter it when paying. This cannot be done on devices.

It can be concluded that this payment system is capable of competing with competitors, having sufficient support in banks and prospects for the development and adaptation of the technologies used.

A modern person who spends a lot of time in the digital world, with the release of new devices, tries to acquire them. He changes, with the exception of adherents of one firm, one model to another on average once a year. At the same time, his device from Apple may change to Android.

Samsung makes up a huge chunk of the Android phone portfolio. Three possible payment systems appear at once per user. Hence the conclusion - you need to strive to create a cross-platform application that will help a person who has changed a device to stay with their old data and not perform various registration operations.

Obviously, a fierce struggle will begin in the android market between Samsung and Google, which will have to be sophisticated to make their system unique, and, accordingly, the best for users.

Android Pay in Russia, a lot of interesting things:

Every year, cash payments are increasingly fading into the background. They are being actively replaced by electronic payment services. The most popular technology is gaining contactless payments. For the first time, the service was used in bank cards, allowing you to pay for purchases by touching the terminal. Portable device manufacturers keep up with global trends. The growing popularity of NFC, originally used only for communication between devices, has found its way into the payments field. Leaders in the mobile gadgets market have introduced their own payment systems. Xiaomi is no exception.

Xiomi's contactless payment service, referred to among fans of the Mi Pay brand, uses the well-known Android Pay payment method. Let's clarify right away that you won't be able to find or download Mi Pay. Android Pay is an electronic payment system from Google that allows the owner to make purchases with one touch without using plastic cards.

How to set up "Android Pay"

For most devices, the service is not installed by default. You will need to download the Android Pay program. It is quite obvious that for this you need to visit the Play Market. Everything is extremely simple: go to the store and download the software.

After installation, you need to activate NFC communication. This is done in the "additional functions" section in the smartphone settings.

Then, you need to open the program access to work:

  • settings -> permissions -> autorun
  • settings -> permissions -> other permissions

In both cases, we include all the proposed items.

The basic settings have been completed, now we will configure the application itself. We enter the program using our Mi account. Add data of plastic cards. There are two possible methods:

  • scan the "plastic" with the camera;
  • manually add the number, expiration date, surname and name of the owner;

Regardless of the method, you will need to enter the CVV / CVC code and confirm the transaction with the bank. By adding several credit cards, you can set any of them by default.

There are a number of criteria that limit the use of the service:

  • firmware version 4.4 and higher;
  • the device must be unrooted;
  • the technology is supported in your country;

How to use Android Pay

All payment systems used on mobile devices work in about the same way. In our case, the procedure is as follows:

  • unlock the phone;
  • bring it to the terminal for a few seconds, until a message about payment and an image of your credit card appear;
  • depending on the terminal and the conditions of the financial institution, you may need to enter a PIN code or signature;
  • if several cards are connected, go to the application, select the one you need and only then apply to the terminal;

Which Xiaomi phones support Android Pay

Unfortunately, not all Xiaomi smartphones are nfc-enabled. Therefore, before connecting, make sure the hardware is compatible with the technology. Below are the suitable devices:

  • Xiaomi Mi 2A
  • Xiaomi Mi 3
  • Xiaomi Mi 5
  • Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus
  • Xiaomi Mi 6
  • Xiaomi Mi Note 2
  • Xiaomi Mi Mix
  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 2
  • Xiaomi Mi Note 3

What cards and banks work with Android Pay technology

The system started working in Russia in the spring of 2017. VISA and MasterCard are suitable for payment. The addition of the MIR format is expected. The list of banks is presented in the table below.

Not very long ago, a contactless payment service called Android Pay was launched in Russia. However, many owners of android smartphones have had difficulties using this service. In more detail, the Android Pay application is successfully installed on the smartphone, but it cannot be launched, a message appears: Android Pay is not supported on this device. We were unable to verify that your device meets the security standards for Android Pay.

In general, three reasons were found due to which this error can occur:

  1. Your smartphone is rooted.
  2. The device has custom (custom) firmware.
  3. The smartphone bootloader is unlocked.

It turns out that those users who wanted to enrich their experience of using an android device faced an obstacle. After all, it is these users who are constantly experimenting with their smartphone - and install to gain more freedom. Users of the device were also added to the category of victims. And on their part nothing of the kind was done at all, except that they just simply received weekly firmware updates, by the way, those who received updates every few months did not suffer. This is because Android Pay agrees to work only with stable firmware, and these are exactly the ones that are not updated often (not weekly). However, the problem that has arisen needs to be addressed. And the Magisk app - the universal systemless interface will help you with this. Magisk allows you to stay free, you don't have to remove root rights or return the stock firmware. At the same time, Android Pay will be fully functional.

How to use the Magisk app

The most important thing to do is replace your root with Magisk root. MagiskSU - allows you to root your phone, and if you already have a root, you will have to remove it and install the root rights from MagiskSU.

Making Android Pay Work

  • So, let's say you have already rooted your phone with MagiskSU, which means that you can find Magisk Manager in the Apps menu.
  • If you have other root rights (not SuperSu or MagiskSU), then you need to delete them (flash this script through recovery to remove root rights).

When all of the above conditions are met, it's time to do the following:

  • You need to install and run. Then, from the Recovery menu, install the archive with Magisk12.0_Hide_Fixed.
  • If everything went well, the Magisk Manager shortcut should appear in the application menu of your phone - you need to open it.
  • Next, find Settings and there Magisk Hide. It needs to be activated, Magisk Hide should appear in the menu.
  • And now the most important thing - we need to activate Android Pay. By the way, if you had a problem with the operation of the Sberbank Online application, and you still have not solved this problem, I hasten to please - Magisk heals this problem as well. You need to open Magisk Hide and see if the Android Pay item is ticked (and at Sberbank at the same time).
  • Then we need to find the Modules section and put the required module there in order to pass the Safety Net check. If you did not find your module, then you need to install Terminal Emulator and write the following commands one by one:

su
sh /magisk/.core/magiskhide/disable
sh /magisk/.core/magiskhide/enable

Well, it remains to run the Safety Net check. Once the verification is successful, then we just have to check if Android Pay is working.

Innovative bank payment technologies are gradually marching around the world, coming to new countries. Next in line is Russia. On May 23, 2017, the long-awaited launch of Google Pay in Russia, which was previously called Android Pay, took place. In this article, we'll talk about all the pros and cons of the payment system, figure out how to connect and configure Google Pay and which banks and smartphones support this technology.

Google Pay - what kind of technology is it and why is it needed?

Google Pay is a payment platform for Android smartphones from the well-known American corporation Google, which was launched for the first time in 2015. Today, this payment technology is already working in such large countries as the USA, Great Britain, Australia, Singapore, etc.

Many people ask what is the essence of this technology? Google Pay allows you to pay for your daily purchases using a smartphone or smart watch on the Android operating system in a contactless way, having previously “linked” a bank card of a bank that supports this technology.

The Google Pay payment platform is similar in principle to Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. But unlike the above-mentioned systems, it has a number of advantages.

Pros and cons of payment service

In order to understand how convenient this platform is and whether it is worth using it, you need to understand what are its advantages and disadvantages of payments via the NFC module on the phone.

First, consider advantages of contactless paymentsGooglePay:

  • No need to carry plastic bank cards with you. For payments, it is enough to use your smartphone, without which most modern people do not leave home.
  • One smartphone instead of several payment cards. That is, you can "bind" cards of several banks to Android Pay, and when paying, you can already decide which card you want to make a payment with.
  • The fundamental advantage of Android Pay, in contrast to Apple and Samsung Pay, is that this system not tied to a specific brand of smartphone... The main thing is that the smartphone is on the Android operating system. And in the world of such smartphones, there are about 85% of the total smartphone market.
  • Payment speed. Paying physically with a bank card on time usually takes much longer than using a contactless method.
  • Payment security. Now this is one of the main aspects of using new payment technologies. Unlike paying with a bank card, firstly, you will not be able to copy a bank card, and secondly, the payment is confirmed with a fingerprint or a special code. In addition, the transfer of data when paying is encrypted and reliably protected from fraudsters.
  • In addition to bank cards, you can add most loyalty cards, discount cards and other cards that you usually carry in your wallet to the GPay application.

Cons of a contactless payment platform:

  • Unfortunately, so far so far not all stores have a contactless payment system... But every year, the number of banks that support the new product from Google and the number of payment points that accept contactless payments, including Google Pay, is growing very quickly.
  • There is no way to use technology to withdraw cash... At least most ATMs in Russia are not configured to read contactless gadgets.
  • Out of charging on the smartphone - left without money... If you constantly use only your smartphone as a means of payment, and if the charging on the gadget runs out, you can be left without a means of payment.

So, in order to connect Google Pay, you need to have a bank credit or debit card Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express in a bank that supports this technology, and also have a gadget that is technically suitable for contactless payment.

Banks supporting Google Pay in Russia

So which banks do GPay support? As of May 23, 2018, you can connect the cards of the following banks:

  • Sberbank
  • Opening
  • Promsvyazbank
  • Dot
  • MTS-Bank
  • B&N Bank
  • Rosselkhozbank
  • Yandex money
  • Some regional banks ...

Every month the number of banks connected to the system will certainly increase. A more detailed and up-to-date list? and also which cards can be added to the application can be found on the official website.

Devices that support paymentGoogle pay

As already mentioned, unlike Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, the main condition for using the new technology is the Android operating system version 4.4 and higher, as well as the presence of an NFC module (a chip for contactless payment) in the smartphone.

Attention! Many have encountered such a problem that either they cannot find the corresponding application on Google Play, or they receive a message: "Not supported on your device." This message is usually seen by those who bought their smartphone through Aliexpress. The fact is that such gadgets usually have unofficial firmware or open root access. Therefore, on such devices, it will not work to install the GPay application (This applies to such Chinese brands as MEIZU, Xiaomi, Elephone, etc., bought not in Russia).

The most affordable smartphones with an NFC module today are produced by the company HUAWEI under the HONOR brand... I myself am the owner of a gadget of this brand and I can say that contactless payments are made without any problems. Everything is just perfect, unlike Samsung of other brands, where glitches and freezes are very common.

How to use Google Pay

So, if you have a card of a supported bank and a smartphone on the platform of the same name with an NFC module, then to pay with your smartphone you need:

  1. Download the official Google Pay app from the google app store.
  2. In the application settings, add "bind" the bank card of the supporting bank.
  3. Set the main card for payments in the application settings (For example, if you have added several cards)
  4. Also, in the settings of the NFC module of your smartphone, you must select the "Default" application for contactless payment. Choose Google Pay.

Direct payment in the store is carried out in a standard way. When the cashier asks you to insert the card, you must unlock your smartphone and bring the back of your smartphone to the bank terminal. Payment will be made from the bank card that you specified as the main one in the GPay application. If at the time of payment you want to make a payment from your other card, then just open the GPay application, select one of the added cards and bring your phone to the terminal.

Below is a detailed video review of Google's contactless payment technology on Android smartphones.

Android Pay(Google Pay) is a popular application controlled by the Android OS and designed to pay for purchases in terminals, from almost any mobile gadget. This program, if the correct setup of Android Pay is made, works successfully on absolutely all models and brands of mobile devices.

How to set up Android Pay on your smartphone?

It makes no sense to list all brands and types of smartphones, there are too many of them, but for the program to work successfully, you must:

  • Availability of Android OS in the phone not lower than 4.4;
  • Smartphone supporting NFC;
  • Official firmware;
  • Lack of Full Root- i.e. access to OS system files, the ability to change and save them;
  • No unlocked bootloader.

NFC wireless technology, operating within a radius of 10 centimeters from the gadget, is used in mid-range smartphones. As for budget phones, this technology is used relatively rarely in them. Before starting work, turn on NFC and leave it on, it practically does not drain the battery.

Note: If you have unlocked the bootloader and got root rights or installed custom firmware, then the Android Pay program may malfunction.

Where can I download the app?

A free download of the Google Pay program is available in the store - Play Market ... The installation is standard. Depending on the type of device, additional requirements are possible - entering a fingerprint, code or password. This standard procedure is used to protect against unauthorized use by outsiders. If the device does not support fingerprint scanning, then the program works successfully without this function.

How to set up Android Pay correctly?

In principle, the answer to the question of how to set up Android Pay is straightforward. To set up a smartphone, a CVV code is entered, and the program will extract all other payment card data from your Google account, of course, if you added it earlier, for example, for purchases on Google Play. It's easy to add card details for the first time. After opening the program, enter the card number, owner's name and CVC code or scan the card with the camera.

Note:

  • For security purposes, a pin code or fingerprint is entered (at the request of the system).
  • The program allows entering the data of several payment cards with the subsequent selection for payment.
  • The service is free, there is no subscription fee or commission.

How do I pay for purchases?

The main condition is that the terminals support the PayPass and PayWave systems, and the client knows how to set up Android Pay and prepare it for payment. The payment process is extremely simple, for this you need to follow these steps:

A pre-unlocked smartphone is brought to the terminal at a close distance, the back part is located parallel to the display of the payment terminal.

After a request for payment for the goods appears, indicate the card from which the funds will be debited, select "Credit", regardless of the type of your card.

When paying up to 1000 rubles, the system does not require a pin code or signature.

After the completion of the transaction, a signal sounds confirming the payment, and if the customer information service is connected via SMS, a message about the balance on the card is sent to the phone.

Is it safe to use Android Pay?

During the payment process, the program creates a complex one-time code that does not contain card data, therefore, by intercepting this information, an attacker will not be able to use it.
