What is better avast or kaspersky. Virus threat detection

Many security software developers release free antiviruses. Even Kaspersky Lab ZAO presented a free option - Kaspersky Free... How much basic functions enough to prevent infection in real conditions- for example, when surfing the web? What you have to pay for free cheese? Let's find it out.

WARNING

All tests were performed for research purposes only. Required files were downloaded from public resources. The developers of the tested antiviruses received automatic notifications about the scan results. The editorial board and the author are not responsible for any possible harm.

Testing technique

We provided all the participants of the experiment with the most identical conditions. Using VirtualBox tools, a test system was created - a virtual machine with pure Windows 7 OS in the "Maximum" edition with the first service pack and all updates. Then it was cloned three times and only one antivirus was installed in each of the clones. The analysis of changes and current activity was carried out by the portable software (TCPView, Autoruns with the VirusTotal plugin via API, ProcessExplorer, Regshot, AVZ and other utilities from).

Sources of threats were sites from the Clean MX database, marked as infected and / or potentially dangerous. Only active sites added in the last day were selected for the test. We visited them in turn through the IE browser and logged the results of antivirus detection (if any). During the test, the antivirus and firewall on the host system were disabled.

INFO

All tests were run in default settings. Any antivirus only reduces the likelihood of infection, but does not completely eliminate it. To improve security, you should use more aggressive settings and additional tools - a firewall, proactive protection, isolation of potentially dangerous code, anti-phishing, and others. In paid antiviruses, most of them are already integrated, however, if you wish, you can independently make a similar set of free utilities.

Like any program, managers virtual machines also contain errors. By exploiting various vulnerabilities, malware can go beyond test system and infect the main operating system. Be careful!

Kaspersky Free

The size of the distribution kit version 16.0.1.445 is 147.8 MB. After installation and updating, Kaspersky Free occupies 232 MB on disk. It provides basic protection which includes antivirus scanner, resident monitor, automatic update, quarantine controls and report viewers. Additional functions marked as inactive - this is a kind of advertising full version KIS and KTS.

When you first start on home page antivirus, a full-size window appears with a proposal for registration. You can click on the inconspicuous gear button in the lower left corner and it will disappear. However, then the registration reminder will constantly appear again in the form of pop-up messages. Additionally, when you first start it in the default browser, the Google Play store page opens with a proposal to install Kaspersky Internet Security, and the browser itself is embedded Kaspersky Protection Toolbar. It is impossible to refuse its integration at the installation stage - there are simply no settings in the installer. However, the toolbar can be deactivated by means of the browser itself.

In our test, Kaspersky Free did not miss a single real threat... Some of the malicious sites were blocked by the Microsoft SmartScreen filter, while the antivirus blocked access to others. Sometimes they worked at the same time.

However, the antivirus is not tough enough to prevent the user from “shooting himself in the foot”. If you select a potentially dangerous executable previously blocked by smartscreen in the download list and force it to run, Kaspersky Free will allow you to do this with Buddhist indifference. It allows the installation of a program with an invalid digitally signed, which 17 antiviruses of the online scanner VirusTotal swear at.

Moreover, Kaspersky itself recognizes it on VirusTotal as Downloader.Win32.Bundl.aq, but ignores it during a local check with the free version. Even if this is not a virus, but a means of delivering a "combat load", this does not make it easier for the user.

Avira Free Antivirus 2016

Antivirus Avira Free also has limited functionality and rather annoyingly advertises the transition to paid version... Advertisements for various Avira products are poured out of a cornucopia even during the installation of the web installer. That's probably why it was so damn long. Tired of watching the progress bar, I managed to finish writing another article.

What's better Avast Free or 360 Total Security?

What better Avast Free or 360 Total Security? Or in other words, is it inferior to 360 Total Security Avast Free? Zadolbal this Avast, it was updated to the point that it starts up for 10 minutes, it cannot start in any way, I downloaded a bunch of crap without demand along with my browser unnecessary.

Vyacheslav Myshkin | December 27, 2017 9:49 pm
I downloaded the driver pack, it will automatically install the avast, I already had 360. braking began, I tried to remove Avast, my Internet flew away with it. I turn on the system restore, Avast and the Internet reappear.

Comparing antiviruses is one of the most difficult issues. There are a lot of parameters by which to compare. At the same time, objective data are quite difficult to perceive and are periodically simply falsified by the developers of such programs. Judging by the latest tests, Avast is slightly better in efficiency than 360 Total Security.

According to my personal impressions, Avast is not good at all. Skips a lot. It is unstable. Will be arbitrary by downloading additional software without permission. The interface, however, is pretty nice. 360 Total Security is more interesting to use and from fat pluses - it knows how to connect external antivirus engines... By the way, according to my subjective assessment, it works faster than Avast if no additional engines are connected.

Valentine | October 5, 2016 8:59 pm
Objectively, 360 Total Security works "faster" in the sense that files for scanning for viruses open quickly and without freezing, as is the case with Avast; also, some sites open quickly with 360 Total Security, which with Avast for some reason hung tightly together with the entire system for about a minute. Literally an hour ago, I uninstalled my free Ast and installed 360 Total Security. After half an hour of testing, I uninstalled 360 Total Security and reinstalled Avast - for more than five years I got used to it, and the fact that the ball is spinning all the time and a voice message about the completion of the scan - I'm used to this, too, but 360 Total Security does not, psychologically it feels that it is asleep. First removed the five-year-old Avast, then 360 Total Security with the program Your Uninstaller! Everything was deleted quickly and as if without problems - the computer starts up normally after all this. 360 Total Security is probably a good antivirus, but if you haven't used anything else before.

If you do not like your antivirus, then try installing another one. And in comparison, everything will become clear to you. 360 Total Security would be a good replacement option. I have had experience with 360 Total Security and can say that it is a very good antivirus. By the way, 360 Total Security has plug-in anti-virus engines. This allows him to use anti virus databases some other antivirus software. In turn, this feature makes this antivirus one of the best.

If you have a choice between these popular antivirus software like Kaspersky or Avast, we recommend reading this article. As you know, these anti-virus programs are one of the most popular computer protection systems among Russian users, and this is due to a number of factors.

For many, the main and decisive factor when choosing Avast is the fact that this antivirus has a free version and does not "hang" the operating system during operation, unlike Kaspersky. This is where all the advantages of this antivirus system end.

Avast is clearly not capable of curing a computer from infection. Worms and Trojans get along well with Avast. According to various tests, operating in a dangerous environment, this antivirus program lets through almost half of all modern malware objects.

Many experts service centers computer repairmen with full responsibility claim that Avast is one of the worst known antivirus software... In most cases, clients bring for treatment exactly those cars where the "protection" from Avast is installed.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus - no doubt about it best remedy protection to date. Its protection efficiency is 99.9% and is the highest among the most famous and popular antivirus programs. The main difference between the work of Kaspersky and Avast and other well-known antiviruses is that it is built into the kernel of the operating system itself; its main modules are loaded first by Windows. It gives complete control over everyone. running processes, the ability to timely detect and deactivate a malicious program. Although Kaspersky Anti-Virus consumes significant system resources computer, if it is correctly configured, this indicator can be significantly reduced by 30-40%. Kaspersky will perfectly cope with its task without loading the computer if it has more than 1 processor core and at least 512mb of RAM. For those who have old computers ( RAM- 256 mb and below), there are alternatives such as Dr.Web or ESET NOD32, but not Avast!

If after reading the article you still have not decided what to install on your computer, Kaspersky or Avast, if your friends and acquaintances praise only Avast and recommend it to you as best antivirus, then, of course, put it. The most you can lose is Windows health and your personal data (logins and passwords from e-mail, social networks and ICQ, numbers credit cards, electronic keys and bank certificates client programs and other electronic payment systems, etc.).

P.S. For 5 years of work of Kaspersky on the machine of the author of this article, there was only 1 case of infection, or rather theft of passwords through a Trojan program. Due to my negligence, the program was allowed to perform dangerous operations(although Kaspersky warned!). The program has been added to trusted.

Good day, dear readers of the blog site. Surely on your home computer is there any anti-virus protection, no? If not, then I strongly recommend getting one, for what it is necessary was said in one of the previous articles, specifically here in. It can be either a paid antivirus or its free analogues, in most cases are installed free options antiviruses, which, by the way, are not much inferior to many in terms of protection paid antivirus, and you can download them completely free. This is perhaps the most important advantage of free antiviruses (your "Cap Obvious").

For about a year, my home computer had free version antivirus Avast (if anyone is not in the know, this company also has paid option "Avast Internet Security ", which in addition to the antivirus contains a firewall and even before a heap of any functionality). So this year I did not get a single virus! I periodically checked free utility Kaspersky to clean it from viruses, she also did not find anything. All this made me think that in most cases, installing a free antivirus is optimal solution because such an antivirus provides a sufficient level of protection, does not slow down the system (unlike ... you know who) and is inexpensive (free).

Based on the results of numerous antivirus tests on various resources, I have selected four applicants for the title Best Free Antivirus of 2014... Of these, only two antiviruses are enough for a long time stood on my computer as the main protection, these are Avast and AVG. The comparison was made using tests (antivirus ratings) + my experience of use, I will try to be objective. By the way, do not pay attention to the order of the antiviruses in the text, this does not mean anything, you just have to start somewhere.

Before continuing, I suggest taking a look at where our antivirus is rated. The rating is taken from the site pcmag.com.

As you can see, the only thing Avast is inferior to the other three contenders is in performance (Performance). Indeed, scanning takes a little longer than we would like. However, I would not call Avast a "brake", the difference in the operating speed of the OS with and without it is absolutely not felt. The antivirus engine itself is presented in the form of three screens: screen file system(scans files and programs when opening and closing), mail screen and web screen (partially acting as a firewall).

I draw your attention to the fact that after the installation is complete, you will need to register, otherwise you will be able to use the antivirus only for 30 days.

But after registration, you can get a license for at least a year, and then just once a year it will need to be renewed (theoretically, the license can be renewed an unlimited number of times). All information about registration can be obtained by going to the "Registration" item of the same name in the antivirus settings menu.

I decided to omit the installation procedure, there is nothing unusual there. Of the "amenities" can be noted: a good translation into Russian of the entire interface to the very last detail, voice acting of pop-up notifications in Russian pleasant female voice(even without an accent) - which, by the way, can be turned off if you suddenly get tired of it. In general, it can be seen that a lot of time and attention was devoted to the development of this antivirus product, and continues to be paid to this day.

AVG antivirus from the Czech Republic

Download AVG Free you can from here. After downloading and installing, you will be able to observe this interface, made in the style of the start Windows screen 8.

It is clearly seen that at the bottom of the screen there is an ad block that can be collapsed by clicking on the link in the lower right corner (it did not fit on the image). However, if you close and then open the main antivirus window, the advertisement will appear again, regardless of whether you minimized it before or not. There are no problems with registration here at all, everything is done even with a certain amount of humor, see for yourself.

Again, the Russian language is present everywhere, everything is very well done, however Avast interface I liked it more, although in "taste and color ...", as they say. And yet, in the settings I found the item sound notifications, there is a checkmark, but I could not hear any speeches (like "scanning completed, virus databases updated", etc.).

German quality

So we got to the non-Russian-language antivirus, which, nevertheless, is quite easy to use and provides an excellent level of protection. I'm talking about Avira Free Antivirus. Just look at how modestly they speak of themselves.

Honestly, I strongly doubt the adequacy of this rating, well, a free antivirus cannot be on a par with the same Kaspersky, which does not have in its product line free solutions, apparently the developers have slightly exaggerated. Or, there is a situation when paid product from Avira, which can also be, because there is no specificity on the chart.

And on the very first rating (the third image from the beginning of the article) it is clearly seen that in the "Protection" section the German is gaining only three stars, while all competitors have four. The only global difference between this antivirus product and alternative options in that the so-called cloud technology, which allows to significantly increase the performance and reliability of the anti-virus.

As previously mentioned, in given antivirus there is no support for the Russian language, however, even without it, it is quite convenient to use the antivirus, a really intuitive interface, what else can I say.

Using the "FireWall" slider in the right column of the main program window, you can enable or disable the built-in Windows firewall, and by clicking on the gear to the right of it, you can set additional settings for him. I wonder if it will be possible to manage a third-party firewall through this function, for some reason it seems to me that it will not. There is no need to register here, rarely anyone has Windows more than two years without reinstalling, so most likely there will be no need to renew it.

Before installing, it is better to disable the built-in firewall and (or) antivirus, Avira was installed on my computer only 3 times, only after I disabled the built-in firewall.

"Non-Russian speaking" - Bitdefender

"All ingenious is simple" is a fairly popular phrase, which can be said to be a kind of slogan for an American product called Bitdefender. The seeming simplicity of the interface actually hides very impressive capabilities for detecting and eliminating all kinds of threats.

This antivirus, according to the developers, uses a combination of cloud scanning and behavioral analysis, which allows it to detect and neutralize new and even unknown threats faster than others. Moreover, the antivirus works as if unnoticed by the user, only occasionally showing him text notifications, for example, about a successful scan, a detected threat, an update, etc. It is definitely a "smart and silent" antivirus that just does its job.

What is the bottom line?

Yes, everything is very simple, if you need an antivirus in Russian with good technical support and you are not confused by advertising, a little more intrusive in the case of AVG, and a little less, in the case of Avast, then opt for one of these two solutions. Remember that AVG scans a little faster, but its interface cannot be called unambiguous, someone will like it, repulse someone, subjectively Avast looks better in this regard.

If you are not afraid of the lack of the Russian language in principle, then I definitely recommend installing Bitdefender, after all, in terms of protection, it is doing a little better than Avira, in short - fans of ardent minimalism should like it. All four applicants presented today are worthy of being installed, in the end everything depends only on your personal preferences.

I myself have not yet decided, I constantly compare Avast and Bitdefender, they both suit me, but the presence of the Russian language is still doing its job. Which one then free antivirus in your opinion the best? I propose to discuss this in the comments.

Introduction

To protect your computer, working information and personal data every user of the Windows operating system wants to find and install on his PC modern antivirus since no one wants to one day face the loss of data, a malfunction of the PC or see a "black screen". Accordingly, the question arises of choosing an antivirus.

Reading the advertising articles of antivirus manufacturers, you come across the fact that all as one declare that their software product is the most advanced, modern and will not miss a single virus, not a single "worm", the system will be 100% protected.

This is where the real puzzle begins - which antivirus is the best, how to make your choice? How to choose an antivirus? It all starts with searching for information on the Internet: you read articles by leading experts, visit forums and study people's opinions, ask your friends, and in the end you come to the conclusion that there is no consensus, and all the answers to the seemingly simple question “are you satisfied with your antivirus "Contradictory.

I would like to make some comparison of antiviruses and at least approximately answer the question - which antivirus is better to install, I will not say all at once, but the three most used in my opinion are Kaspersky Anti-Virus (Kaspersky Internet Security), Avast (Avast!) And Doctor Web (Dr.Web).

Why I decided to make this comparison, because very often, people when choosing one or another antivirus, rely on the wrong criteria. Many people think that since free means bad, and paid, on the contrary, is good, or the more expensive the better, and everything like that. Let's get a look.

Purpose of the study: to figure out which of these antivirus programs is better: Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Avast, Doctor Web.

Object of study:Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Avast (Avast!) And Doctor Web (Dr.Web).

Subject of study:which of these antivirus programs is better: Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Avast, Doctor Web

Research objectives:

1) Explain what antiviruses are and how they work?

2) Study the literature about antivirus software from Kaspersky, Avast, Doctor Web;

3) Highlight the pros and cons of antivirus programs;

4) Conduct research among school students what antivirus software they trust;

5) Processing of the received data, construction of graphs and diagrams;

Relevance is to protect your computer, and to choose an affordable, convenient and effective antivirus.

What is a Virus?

Viruses are programs, applications, sets of scripts, macros created to destroy, steal information, infiltrate a computer, increase user privileges, and infect applications.

Computer viruses are programs that can "multiply" and secretly embed copies of themselves in files, boot sectors disks and documents.

Revitalization computer virus may destroy programs and data.

There are more than 100 thousand known viruses... There may be more than a million unknown people - no one can know the exact numbers.

What is antivirus?

What is antivirus? Let's immediately dispel one common illusion. For some reason, many believe that antivirus can detect any virus, that is, by running an antivirus program, you can be absolutely sure of their reliability. This point of view is not entirely correct. The fact is that antivirus is also a program, of course, written by a professional. But these programs are capable of recognizing and destroying only known viruses. That is, an antivirus against a specific virus can be written only if the programmer has at least one copy of this virus available. So this endless war is going on between the authors of viruses and antiviruses, however, for some reason, the former in our country are always more numerous than the latter. But antivirus creators also have an advantage! The fact is that there are a large number of viruses, the algorithm of which is practically copied from the algorithm of other viruses. As a rule, such variations are created by non-professional programmers who, for some reason, decided to write a virus. To combat such "copies" a new weapon has been invented - heuristic analyzers. With their help, the antivirus is able to find similar analogs of known viruses, informing the user that it seems to have gotten a virus. Naturally, the reliability of the heuristic analyzer is not 100%, but still its coefficient useful action more than 0.5. Thus, in this information war, as, indeed, in any other, the strongest remain. Viruses that are not recognized by antivirus detectors can only be written by the most experienced and qualified programmers.

Thus, it is almost impossible to be 100% protected from viruses (it is assumed that the user exchanges diskettes with friends and plays games, and also receives information from other sources, for example, from networks). If you do not enter information into the computer from the outside, it is impossible to become infected with a virus - it will not be born on its own.

So what is antivirus and how does it work?

Basically, antivirus is a type of security tool that scans your computer for self-propagating malware (usually viruses and worms) and neutralizes it. To achieve this goal, antivirus uses a number of detection technologies:

  1. Signature detection
  2. Heuristics and approximation
  3. Virtualized simulation

Avast

Avast! - antivirus software for operating systemsWindows, Linux, Mac OS, as well as for PDAs on the platformPalm, Android and Windows CE... Development of the company AVAST Software founded in 1991 in the Czech Republic. Main office the company is located in Prague. There are also versions for medium and large businesses (Business Protection and Business Protection Plus) and versions for servers (File Server Security and Email Server Security). The product is certified by ICSA Labs.

The name avast is short for anti-virus advanced set. What's in English language there is the word avast ("stop"), it was noticed later.

avast! Free is considered the most popular free antivirus. All in all, avast! used by over 160 million users worldwide.

In the beginning, the firm had only 5-6 employees. At an early stage of its existence, in addition to developing antivirus programs, the firm worked on localization tools and systems Reserve copy data.

Launched in 2011 new line antivirus software for large organizations - Business Protection. For the first time in the world, an anti-virus with automatic virtualization was released, and also the 6th version of avast! Was released, which uses the new technologies WebRep, AutoSandbox and SafeZoneTM.

Despite the beginning of 2012, the number of registered users of the antivirus has already exceeded 200 million. Consumers can already install new program avast! 7, which has become even more perfect. It has been enriched with technologies such as FileRep, Community IQ and Remote Assistance, avast! Account. Criticism

In general, criticism of the antivirus is positive. For users, the free version is very attractive, which has everything you need to home user without any restrictions. The main advantage of avast! is its low resource consumption and high speed scan. However, there are also disadvantages. One of the most famous is the inability to disinfect infected files (despite the fact that this function is present) and, in the overwhelming majority of cases, such files are either deleted or moved to quarantine. Other disadvantages include the inability to remove a memory resident virus (resident in RAM).

Tests and awards

2010 - avast! hit the top ten most downloaded programs on CNET Downloads and was in second place

Pros and cons of antivirus software.

It is impossible to say for sure which antivirus is the best than it is up to you to use, but let me make a comparison to make it easier for you to make the right choice. Let's start with Kaspersky.

Kaspersky Internet Security

Pros :

  1. According to the ratings, the most powerfulantivirusof all that exist (if I am not mistaken not only in Russia, but also in the world).
  2. Copes with all viruses malware, trojans androotkits(of course, if it is updated, you need to have an Internet connection for this)
  3. Minimal impact on computer performance. (indeed, when it works, in the "passive guard" mode, it loads very little RAM)
  4. Well, and a bunch of standard pluses present in all antiviruses, which I will describe below ...

Minuses :

  1. The price of 1600 rubles per year is expensive on the Internet, and more expensive in shops.
  2. Kaspersky is not the most fast antivirus.
  3. Well, the third, perhaps the last of the minuses is that with full verification it takes up a lot of computersrandom access memoryand it is better to turn off all programs at this time ...

Avast!

Pros :

  1. There is a free version (which I use for example on a netbook, and which I am very happy with).
  2. It is one of the fastest file scanning antivirus.
  3. Updates are downloaded quickly and invisibly, after their installation you are notified about it.
  4. Voice prompts. That is, after performing any action, a pleasant female voice notifies you about this.

Minuses :

  1. The free version does not cope with some viruses, or rather, passes them by.
  2. Does not block "bad" banners and advertisements on the site.
  3. The free version must be registered within 30 days. (not big, but minus sign)

Dr.Web

Pros :

  1. Free and VERY powerful utility Curelt!
  2. Quite good scanning speed.

Minuses :

  1. The Curelt! Utility is constantly updated and somewhere every month (or even a week) you have to download a new version ..
  2. The paid version is not cheap ...
  3. And I also heard (but only heard it) that a key can be stolen from your antivirus program during use (!!!).

We bought a computer, we need an antivirus. Think about what you will be using this computer for. If for fun, then it is more expedient to install a free virus (for example, Avast! ). If it will serve not only for entertainment, but also for work, then it is better to install a paid antivirus.

Survey
The survey involved students in grades 8-9
(30 people)

Conclusion: According to our survey, the majority of students trust the protection of their computer to Kaspersky Anti-Virus; the free anti-virus Avast received the least votes.

Conclusion

I chose this topic because I wanted to find out how to protect your computer from the effects of viruses and which antivirus is suitable for each of us - which antivirus is better and which is worse, their pros and cons.

I believe that the topic I have chosen will interest many, since many cannot choose which antivirus program to install on their computer.

The results of my research and the survey I conducted have shown that each antivirus program has its own pros and cons.

I think, the best way to protect your computer is to install on your computer, for example, Kaspersky Anti-Virus and additionally the free Curelt utility from Doctor Web. At the end of each week, scan your computer for viruses, first with the Kaspersky Anti-Virus program, then with the Curelt scanner.

Many of my friends have listened to my advice and use it, as well as advise others this idea.
