What to do if songs in Apple Music and podcasts on iOS are not available. We remove restrictions (age limit) in Apple Music - all the ways! How to disable content restriction on iPhone

Instructions on how to allow playback of blocked music and podcasts on iOS devices iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac OS X computers.

If you have already updated iOS on your device to version 8.4, then you most likely noticed that some music albums, tracks or podcasts are no longer playable on your device. This happened to me too and, as it turned out, in the new version of iOS, by default, playing music and podcasts with explicit content, or, in other words, containing obscene language and so-called obscene content, is prohibited.

I don’t know what prompted them to take this step, it seems to me that this is an accidentally missed bug. Especially when you consider that after you allow yourself to play such content, after a while this setting may unpredictably reset and music with podcasts will again become unplayable.

How to Allow Blocked Music to Play on iOS

In order to allow yourself to play “adult content”, you must:

  1. Open menu Settings(Settings) → Main(General) → Restrictions(Restrictions).
  2. Then Enable Restrictions, no matter how strange this action may seem in the context of disabling restrictions. It is necessary that it was possible to edit the restriction settings.
  3. After that, you will need to come up with and enter a four-digit password, and then enter it again.

Take this step with care so as not to forget the password, because you can only reset it by completely resetting the device and setting it up as new.

We will need this password to edit the restrictions settings, because to enable restrictions you need to set a password, and to edit the restrictions settings, you need to enable them.

  4. Now you need to scroll down the screen to the section Allowed Content(Allowed Content), and select an item Music and Podcasts(Music & Podcasts).
  5. Now you need to turn on the switch Explicit to allow music, videos, and podcasts that contain inappropriate content to play.
  6. In the last step, you can return to the main restrictions menu and turn off restrictions at the very top, this will leave the setting made in the previous step active. But the main thing is to check that you can now play tracks marked as Explicit.

I hope that in the next version of iOS, Apple will correct this misunderstanding and will not forbid us from listening to our favorite music.

How to allow blocked music to play on OS X

On a Mac computer, this is much easier to do (in iTunes on Windows, I think this is done in much the same way).

  1. The first step is to launch iTunes.
  2. Then open settings: iTunes main menu → Settings(Preferences) or just press Cmd + , (command key and comma) while the iTunes window is active.
  3. And left only in the sub-menu Parental control(Parental Control) uncheck the box Restrict music with obscene (explicit) content(Restrict: Music with explicit content).
  4. Don't forget to click OK.

That's all, I hope you did well!

Apple introduced new tools called "Screen Time", which will help users control the amount of time they use their devices, as well as limit the amount of time children use iPhone and iPad. An overview of the new functionality is provided below.

Add feature "Screen Time" to track and control the use of gadgets by your children, you can from the settings Family Sharing iCloud account (unless, of course, the child uses an individual device that is added to Family Sharing parent).

Also activate "Screen Time" directly on any other shared family device, such as an iPad, without having to create Family Sharing.

In both cases, the child does not need to know the parent's Apple ID credentials.

During this period, calls, messages, and other allowed apps can still be used, and everything else, including notifications, will be disabled. An hourglass icon will appear next to blocked apps.

To go to the next screen, specify the rest time and press the button "At rest" to save changes. You can also select "Not now" if you are not sure what time to set.

5. Next, a page with restriction settings will be displayed "Program Limits". Select the categories you want to set limits for, for example "All Apps", "Games", "Social network" or others.

Once you've selected the app categories you want to set a limit for, click "Install" opposite the item "Amount of time" and specify the duration of the restriction, after which the applications will be blocked until the next day.

When done, click "Set Program Limit" or select "Not now" if not sure.

4. Click «+» or «-» next to the app you want to add or remove.

Age restrictions on access to content is a topic that Western companies, including Apple, pay great attention to. Many parents seek to isolate their children from swearing that may be present in movies, games, music, and other content. iOS devices have a separate setting that is responsible for enabling restrictions on the playback of music and podcasts with an Explicit rating, that is, intended for an adult audience.

By default, on iPhone, iPad, and iPod, the music restriction setting for music that is not intended for children can be enabled. Accordingly, even adults may encounter the problem that a number of songs, albums or broadcast releases are not available in Apple Music or the Podcasts application (their names are written in gray). In such a situation, you will need to turn off the Explicit setting, and below we will see how to do this.

How to remove age restrictions for music and podcasts in iOS

If the user wants to remove the restrictions on content in the iPad or iPhone, he needs to know the password from the device. With this information, you need to do the following:

Note: In order for the changes made to take effect, and the previously restricted content to become available, you must completely close the application (delete from memory) in which the restriction was reported. That is, if there were restrictions in the Podcasts application, you need to double-click on the Home button and unload it from memory, and then restart it.

How to set limits on iPhone or iPad

If parents want to protect their children from content that is prohibited up to a certain age, they have the opportunity to enable the necessary restrictions in the iPhone or iPad settings. In addition, in the settings you can set restrictions on a number of key actions for the operation of the device and access to prohibited content: downloading and deleting applications, making in-app purchases in games and programs, using the camera, the Safari browser, and much more.

To set the necessary restrictions, you need to go to "Settings", then select the items "General" - "Restrictions". After entering the password, you can make the necessary settings. The user has the ability to completely disable access to certain device functions, as well as set age restrictions on specific content.

In addition, depending on the age of the device user, you can enable country-recommended restrictions by selecting the appropriate country.

Restrictions protect key settings from unauthorized changes. This is very convenient if, for example, the device is freely available to many people or a child. For example, a child can be prevented from installing new apps or, very importantly, from making in-app purchases.
