What is the difference between tv sat sockets. TV through socket: how to install

The main difference that characterizes a television outlet from electrical outlet is the structure of the cable connected to the product. A coaxial cable consists of one solid core, enclosed in dense insulation with a screen made of foil-clad metal and thin steel wire, on top of the entire structure is closed with an external protective shell made of PVC insulation.

Important: The shield in the coaxial cable, also called asymmetrically shielded, has the function of protecting against high frequency signals into the surrounding area. It prevents interference, to which the signal received by the object is sensitive. Besides protective shield serves as a second conductor to ensure the flow of high-frequency current through the cable.

According to their functional purpose, television sockets are divided into three main types - these are:

  • single sockets, their resistance is characterized by an insignificant value of internal resistance;
  • pass-through, installed in the middle of the loop, the cable is connected to these sockets from both sides,
  • end they are characterized by large value internal resistance;

Single sockets refer to simple type and are considered a common wiring product, are used to connect television receiver... Work is carried out through a splitter or crab from one antenna.

A loop-through socket is used to connect two or more TVs, the connection is made by dividing the TV signal for each TV. The operation of the product is based on the supply of one cable from the antenna, the other cable leaves the outlet and goes to the TV.

The terminal socket is used to terminate the multi-socket television network... Main characteristics large internal wave impedance up to 75 Ohm, it is equal to the wave impedance in the television line, due to this it decreases negative impact television receivers on top of each other, as a result of improving the quality of the television signal, the picture of the television image is improved.

Operating frequencies typical for combined sockets

A television receiver (TV) operates at frequencies from 5 to 862 MHz.

Radio receiver ( FM ) its range is from 87.5 to 108 MHz.

Satellite television ( SAT ) from 95 to 2400 MHz.

Terminal socket diagram "star" - TV-RD-SAT, terminal or terminal sockets are used to improve the image quality to get rid of interference, switching channels on one TV does not affect the image of another TV receiver.

Features of the design of television sockets

Modern TV sockets

Currently, designs have been created for television outlets that combine various functions Is the connection of the television consumer ( TV) , radio points (FM) and satellite (SAT) receiver.

By schemes : TVRDSAT; TVFMSAT; TVRD, for three and two output connectors, a socket that includes the abbreviation in its marking RD, serves as a terminal socket. Connection is carried out according to the topology "star" and "loop"

Features of the device of television sockets

Modern TV sockets in their design imply the presence of a main spring or screw terminal contact for connecting the central core tv cable... The auxiliary terminal (special bracket) is used to connect the braided shield. Feed-through sockets have two pairs of terminals for connecting incoming and outgoing cables.

Modern sockets from Legrand, ABB and other European brands do not require when connecting additional training TV cable, it is enough to insert the bare core into the contact terminal and it will automatically clamp it, puncture the main insulation and clamp the cable. The connection turns out to be very reliable.

Star scheme

The TV socket for this circuit is used with one input and multiple outputs for 2; 3; 4 outputs. The input signal must have sufficient power to provide a good TV signal, otherwise the picture on the last TV set will be poor.

Rice. No. 3. Star scheme.

To amplify the signal, apply tv amplifier, which will provide an increase in the signal power, it is recommended to install it next to the TV signal source, directly in the switchboard or next to the input of the TV cable into the apartment.

Recommendation: during installation television circuit"star". Do not lay a branch and incoming cable, interference may appear, and the quality of the TV signal will deteriorate. Star scheme the best option for connecting digital television. NV receivers are connected using a router, the function of which can be a digital splitter or hub. It can be a set-top box SD, a CAM-model receiver, it is suitable for receiving an IPTV signal.

Loop circuit (loop-through)

The circuit uses series-connected feed-through sockets and a terminal socket. There is practically no signal quality degradation in the circuit, the quality depends on the correct connection of the television cable to the F-connector. Using this connection makes it possible to connect three TV sets from loop-through sockets and two more from a single (individual) and dead-end outlet.

Rice. No. 3 Loop-through circuit for connecting television sockets.

The wiring of the "loop" and "star" circuits is carried out through a splitter, which serves as a separator of the TV and SAT signal into identical parts without loss of signal quality; the splitter is also used as a signal adder. In addition to the splitter, the TAP splitter performs a similar function, it divides the signal into several outputs. Splitters used for television receivers use operating frequency 1Hz, devices that perform a similar function for satellite receivers have frequencies up to 2.5GHz.

TV socket(TV socket) is a device designed to connect your TV to a television, satellite or radio network. Allows you to create aesthetic and easy-to-use connections (the cable is usually hidden in the walls or under the skirting board). There is a possibility parallel connection two or more devices, as well as the ability to increase the number of network sections. TV sockets differ in connection method, manufacturer, outward appearance and operating frequency.

Think you've figured it out what is this device? Are you ready to buy a TV outlet? Do not hurry! Let's first figure it out in order to avoid misunderstandings. Below it is shown and described what types of TV sockets are, their device, as well as features that should be taken into account before choosing a television outlet.

Types of TV sockets

Television sockets, depending on the installation features, are individual, through and terminal.

Summarizing all of the above: pass-through and terminal sockets are used if and only if several TVs are used in the network receiving a television signal. Do you need a TV socket to connect a TV (one)? Buy a single socket! Do you need sockets for, for example, four TVs? Buy 3 incoming sockets and 1 end outlet. We figured out the types of television outlets, let's move on.

You can view the catalog of individual, pass-through, terminal TV sockets on our website.

TV socket device

Any TV outlet consists of several basic parts:

  • corps (which is also called printed circuit board) required to connect to antenna cable;
  • front panel that performs a protective and aesthetic function (can be selected in accordance with the general style of the room and personal design preferences);
  • adder required to connect a radio or satellite dish in addition to the main one;
  • support - which serves as the basis for fastening all parts of the socket into a single structure, as well as ensuring reliable fixation of the socket in the installation box.

Features of the choice of television outlets

Suppose you trust the well-known brand Legrand Valena (we fully support you in your choice). What parameters do the buyer need to know when choosing Legrand Valena TV sockets? On sale you can find sockets with clock frequency in the range from 5 to 2400 MHz. You should know that each type of signal (satellite, cable, radio) has its own operating frequency:

  • with a frequency from 45 to 1000 MHz, cable TV or TV from outdoor antenna;
  • radio and television signals are transmitted with a frequency of 92 to 108 MHz;
  • with a frequency from 950 to 2500 MHz - cable and satellite TV signal in combination with a radio signal.

Thus, the sockets should be selected according to the type of signal: R (radio), TV (cable or antenna television) and SAT ( satellite television). Very often, one socket combines several jacks at once: TV + R, TV + SAT, TV + R + SAT. This makes it possible to summarize signals of different standards and frequency ranges into a single cable to receive the required signal in the corresponding socket.

As for manufacturers, here the buyer can choose a device from dozens of companies, the most famous of which are such as: Legrand, ABB, Shneider and others. Mechanisms like these are usually standardized and compatible with each other's hardware from third party brands.

There are more and more low-current cables for home wiring of networks every year. This includes:

  • UTP internet cables and telephone wires
  • wires for acoustics
  • alarm and video surveillance
  • cable for TV

If earlier all this was simply thrown across the floor, behind furniture, in the baseboards, today, when renovating an apartment, walls are also gouged for low current and special sockets are installed.

Let's consider in more detail the installation of TV sockets from companies such as Schneider Electric (Unica series) and Legrand.

Schneider Electric Unica TV socket connection

Technical characteristics of television connectors from Schneider Electric:

The decibel value indicates attenuation or attenuation of the signal.

The installation of all sockets must begin with stripping the coaxial cable. Leave a 10-15cm long stock in the box, cut off the rest.

Now the most important thing is to decide how much insulation needs to be removed. To what depth and how many centimeters.

It is best to take measurements directly at the outlet itself. To do this, take it in your hands, apply the wire just below the viewing hole and mark with a marker or knife, the cutting line at the level of the plastic central insert.

Cut off the top layer of insulation using a specially designed tool.

and with a simple knife.

You can find an inexpensive stripper for a coaxial cable on Ali-express.

The screen under insulation in television cables is found in different versions:

  • only aluminum foil
  • copper braided foil
  • one braid in the form of thin wires

If the total wire diameter is less than 7mm, the shield is often turned outward to ensure sufficient contact with the metal socket cover.

Just keep in mind that from the inside of the shell, the foil is not conductive.

This is where the main mistake many electricians and television people make when connecting a coaxial cable is that they hide all the veins of the screen behind this foil.

Therefore, at least half of its layer should be turned upside down outward. Otherwise, you simply will not have contact and TV signal.

Types of TV sockets

Also pay attention to the icons and lettering on the case. There should be symbol in the form of an arrow facing inward.

There is another arrow pointing up.

If your model has 2 arrows pointing in different sides, then this is a through TV socket. That is, you put one cable from the antenna into the connector with an arrow down, and with the other you release the cable or continue to pull the line to another connector, to another TV.

In general, there are 3 types of TV sockets:

  • single
  • terminal - they have an additional resistor with a resistance of 75 Ohm (terminator)
  • checkpoints

Single and terminal will transmit a signal of a similar quality, provided that a TV is necessarily connected to them.

If you do not connect a TV to a single outlet without resistance, then on other TVs there will be interference and signal distortion. The terminal does not have such a problem.

However, keep in mind that all this applies primarily to the analog signal. If you have a digital TV, or are going to switch to it, then problems may arise due to this resistor.

You will have to either throw out this outlet and change to another, or connect directly. These resistors dampen the signal very strongly. Some channels will show poorly, or there will be no image at all.

All TV pass-through sockets have an inlet and outlet. An outgoing wire is connected to the output to another outlet or directly to the TV. Their main disadvantage is the 4 dB degradation of the output signal.

Wiring diagram for multiple TVs through loop-through sockets:

You should also initially pay attention to the frequency of the socket signal transmission. Models with a frequency of up to 1000 MHz are designed to work in networks with cable or on-air television... Instances with a frequency of over 1000 MHz are used for satellite television.

Cable connection

To connect the cable, remove the insulation from the central core by 6-8mm. At the same time, a couple of millimeters must be retreated from the edge of the outer shell to the place where the stripping begins.

Next, insert the TV wire into the inside of the socket and through the viewing window, make sure that the central core is fully inserted into the connector.

In the Unica series, it is self-tightening, you do not need to tighten anything here. In other brands, there may be a clamping screw, which must first be loosened and then tightened with a screwdriver.

Pay Special attention so that the “hairs” of the screen do not come into contact with the central core anywhere.

It remains to tighten the cable itself with the central screw and put the outer cover in place.

If something is not clear and does not work out, you can always refer to the instructions.

TV connection Legrand sockets Valena

The installation of the socket, as usual, begins with its disassembly. The outer frame is clicked here. WITH back side press on them with your fingers and remove the frame.

Next, you need to get to the inside of the outlet. Insert a screwdriver into the slot and open the protective cover upward.

Inside there is a seat for the central core. A wedge-shaped pin is located in front of it, which is driven under the upper layer of insulation.

You clean up coaxial cable and expose the central core by 8mm. Wherein external screen completely stays under the layer of insulation. No need to expose wires and foil.

Insert the cable into the socket so that the wedge penetrates under the outer sheath of the insulating layer. In this case, the central core must go into its seat.

Make sure that all contact parts of the socket and cable are in good contact with each other:
  • central core in the seat
  • wedge under insulation
  • the wire is tightly pressed against the side frame

Then close the lid with a simple movement. Further, the frame, together with the cable, can be safely turned in different directions and fixed on the socket.

  • no need to install a separate piece of cable to connect the TV connector to the socket
  • no signal degradation. At the F connectors of the UHF range, the signal attenuates only from 0.1 to 0.3 dB.

All this is achieved by using ordinary plugs. Initially, lay a sufficient supply of cable in the wall so that it is enough for direct connection to the TV (1-1.5 meters).

Drill a hole in the plug along the diameter of the cable and lead the conductor through it.

It all looks as beautiful as on an ordinary outlet.

The only drawback is that not all manufacturers have this kind of plugs and may not be available on certain series.

Connection errors

The three most common mistakes that are made when connecting TV sockets:

1 Using 75 ohm resistor outlets for digital TV cable.

Bottom line - complete absence signal, or its poor quality.

If you have analog signal, and several TVs are connected in series through a special splitter, then the resistance here will also be superfluous and it is better to get rid of it.

2 Using wall outlets with serial connection without resistors, in analog networks with empty connectors.

If no equipment is connected to these sockets (sockets), other TVs will again show poorly some of the channels and there will be interference.

3 Complete "wrapping" of all the veins of the screen with the top layer of foil when cutting the cable.

As a result, only the inner part of the foil remains outside, which is not conductive. Accordingly, there will be no contact between the screen and the socket connectors.

A television socket is a special device that, depending on the specific type of construction, is capable of performing various tasks. In particular, by means of sockets, you can connect a number of devices in parallel, increase the network area, etc.

Types of sockets

The shops trading network Leroy Merlin offers its customers television sockets of the following types:

  • Pass-through devices are equipped with an input and two outputs, one of which can be connected necessary equipment, and to the other - the next outlet. When laying the network, it must be borne in mind that each outlet leads to the fact that the signal becomes somewhat weaker, and therefore the installation is too a large number similar devices impractical. Pass-through models are needed in order to connect several devices at once, they are operated in most cases in combination with terminal sockets.
  • Terminal sockets complete the network, improve the quality of the television picture, for which the characteristic impedance is at the level of 75 ohms.
  • Individual sockets also complete the network, but do not have the same impressive resistance as their wave counterparts, which can cause problems with the image.

Selection and installation principles

When choosing an outlet, it is imperative to find out its operating frequency. Likewise, if you plan to connect to the product in the future additional devices eg modem, select models with dedicated inputs.

When installing the socket on the wall, it is better to use special boxes that reduce the mechanical load on the element and increase its durability.

Leroy Merlin offers a wide selection of products for low prices for residents of Moscow, as well as cities of the Moscow region: Balashikha, Podolsk, Khimki, Korolev, Mytishchi, Lyubertsy, Krasnogorsk, Elektrostal, Kolomna, Odintsovo, Domodedovo, Serpukhov, Shchelkovo, Orekhovo-Zuevo, Ramenskoye, Dolgoprudny, Zhukovsky, Pushkino, Reutov, Sergiev Posad, Voskresensk, Lobnya, Klin, Ivanteevka, Dubna, Yegoryevsk, Chekhov, Dmitrov, Vidnoe, Stupino, Pavlovsky Posad, Naro-Fominsk, Fryazino, Lytkarino, Dzerzhinsky and Solnechnogorsk. You can order the products you need online with delivery to all of these cities, or visit one of our retailers.

On the this moment TV sockets are widely represented on the market and are increasingly used. At the same time, you can often find complaints about their work and the quality of the television signal transmitted by such sockets.

But in most cases, these complaints are unfounded, and low quality signal is due to the wrong choice of the sockets themselves. Therefore, in order not to be disappointed in this wiring equipment ourselves and not to throw money down the drain, let's look at this issue.

First of all, let's consider possible options diagrams for connecting television sockets. Indeed, the subsequent choice of the type of TV sockets for installation directly depends on this. At the moment, connection schemes are actively used - through-type and according to the star scheme.

Pass-through scheme

Let's start with the less often used, but cheaper and easier in terms of installation, the pass-through circuit. The essence of this scheme is serial connection all TV sockets with the subsequent connection of the antenna to the first of them.

So:

  • The main feature of this circuit is that for each subsequent outlet, the previous one is a signal source. In this regard, there are certain problems associated with both the level of the signal drop and the need to reduce the level of the reflected signal.
  • In order to fulfill these requirements, a television terminal socket and a through socket are used. The terminal socket is installed at the end of this loop, and all other TV sockets in the loop must be through.
  • The main disadvantage of this type of connection is the decrease in the signal level at each subsequent outlet. So usually the drop in the signal level at each subsequent outlet is at least 13 - 15 dB.

Note! According to GOST 28324-89, the signal level should be 57 - 83 dB. That is, even with maximum level of the received signal, installing more than two loop-through sockets will reduce its level below the maximum acceptable values... As a result, image quality is likely to deteriorate.

  • The terminal tv outlet is no exception and the drop in the signal level on it is nothing less. The fact is that to reduce the level of the reflected signal, a special circuit is used, which suppresses this signal. A side effect of this suppression is a decrease in the signal level. If you “bite it out”, as some craftsmen suggest, then the effect of overlaying images is quite likely. different TVs in the train.
  • Not a disadvantage, but a significant limitation, is the impossibility of using a loop-through scheme to create a digital television network. In this regard, the TV outlet and throughput with the SAT output, intended for satellite digital television, will not be effective. At the same time, terminal sockets are actively used in digital television if this is the only outlet connected to the receiver.

Star scheme

To implement the so-called "star" scheme, in addition to the outlets themselves, you will need a splitter or, as it is also called, a signal multiplier. Price this device not so high, but the signal level in all sockets will be the same.

In addition, in most cases it comes with a built-in amplifier to achieve ideal level signal.

So:

  • For the "star" circuit, our instruction recommends using only single sockets. Moreover, their cost is slightly lower than for other types of TV sockets. This is due to the fact that there are no additional circuits in them. After all, interference suppression occurs in the splitter and they are not needed directly in the outlet.
  • The signal drop in such outlets usually does not exceed 1 - 3dB. And by by and large this drop is associated only with switching processes. Therefore, if the connection is made with high quality, then such losses can be generally neglected.
  • The main disadvantage of the "star" scheme is its more high price and the complexity of installation. It is associated with the installation of additional equipment and the need for laying more TV cable. But as the saying goes, quality requires sacrifices.
