What is the difference between apple watch. Choosing the right Apple Watch size

Smart watch have been doing well in the market for a long time. Feeling best of course Apple Watch. If you are going to buy them in the near future and do not know which color to choose, then you have come to the right place.

Let's consider in general what colors are. Here are a couple of tips that will definitely help you. So it will be very interesting and, most importantly, useful.

What are the colors of the Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2

As you know, two generations of these wonderful watches have already been released, and despite the fact that they often have to be charged, people use them and are quite satisfied.

And why not, because they look very great and most importantly, when buying there is a very big choice colors.

Do not confuse the color of the case (also the material) of the watch and the strap. There are much fewer colors of the case and in fact it is the base of the watch. You buy them, and then you buy the necessary straps.

In general, there are such colors:

  1. Silver Aluminum Case (Series 1 and 2);
  2. Space Gray Aluminum Case (Series 1 and 2);
  3. Rose Gold Aluminum Case (Series 1 and 2);
  4. Gold Aluminum Case (Series 1 and 2);
  5. Space Black Stainless Steel Case (Series 2);
  6. Stainless Steel Case (Series 2);
  7. White Ceramic Case (Series 2).

There is approximately such a choice, and now we will determine what and why it is better to take. Surely you already liked some color.

Choosing an Apple Watch color for a future purchase

As you understand, it was not for nothing that I wrote about the material from which the watch is made. Both visual sensations and price depend on this.

The price from the first to the fourth option is $269, the fifth and sixth options are $549, and the last one is $1249. All these prices correspond to the options with straps in the pictures above. In fact, these are the most popular straps.

I will tell you about my logic of choice, and then you decide for yourself whether this tactic suits you or not. I have plans to buy this watch and I will do something like this.

First option. You need to take a very neutral color of the case, under which you can easily mix new straps.

Therefore, for myself, I can highlight such options as Silver Aluminum Case, Space Gray Aluminum Case, Space Black Stainless Steel Case and Stainless Steel Case.

Silver and black have always been classics. Under them, in fact, any strap will fit almost perfectly. Suitable for both sportswear and more business style.

Option two. Rose Gold Aluminum Case and Gold Aluminum Case are very specific colors and they are not suitable for everyone.

If the first color is clear that it is more suitable for girls. That second option can suit both boys and girls.

With guys, everything is quite difficult, because some just trudge on the color of gold, the latter simply cannot bear it. It's up to you to decide.

Option three. White Ceramic Case is the most expensive model. Of course such high price due to ceramics.

If you like white and can handle the price, then why not. White color Suitable for any clothes and the choice of straps is also very large for this model.

conclusions

As you can see, there are a lot of options for you. I hope my prioritization will allow you to decide which Apple Watch color is best for you.

We will wait for new updates, because quite a lot of time has passed since the presentation of the second series. Perhaps they will come up with something even more original.

Most recently, on March 21, Apple held a presentation during which not only showed the public the iPhone SE and iPad Pro. Apple Watch price cuts were also announced, and this is a good reason to talk about the "smart watch" of the Cupertino company. Or rather, compare their various models. Really? it is not easy for all users to figure out which Apple Watch to buy. How do the models differ, and what are they generally capable of?

What are the modelsApplewatch?

It's hard to say how many Apple smartwatch models exist: depending on how you count, given the variety of straps and case sizes. However, the main division occurs into three models:

  • Apple Watch Sport. The base model of the gadget, therefore, is the cheapest. However, as you will soon see, in terms of characteristics, it is practically in no way inferior to a more expensive version.
  • Apple watch. The "basic" model - not for nothing it does not have special name. Their price, depending on some parameters, can vary greatly.
  • Apple watch edition. This is a luxury model, with a case made of precious metals, the price of which starts at 10,000 dollars and goes up to 17,000. For obvious reasons, it makes no sense to seriously compare it with the two main models. This is no longer electronic gadget, and, first of all, a status accessory.

Here you can see the unboxing of the two main models:

On the Apple website, another model stands out separately - the Apple Watch Hermes, but in fact it is still the same "regular" Apple Watch with special straps. You can use at further choice this scheme or the video below, but it is better to read the article further.

Dimensions and weight

All Apple models The Watch is available in two case sizes, indicated by the diagonal of the display: 38mm and 42mm. At the same time, the thickness of all Apple Watch is the same: 10.5 millimeters.

But the weight is different: Apple Watch Sport weighs 25 or 30 grams (in 38 mm and 42 mm versions, respectively), and regular Apple Watch - already 40 or 50 grams. The difference is quite large in itself, although, of course, it is hardly fundamental for the user.

Many people try to divide the Apple Watch into "male" and "female" options, but this approach does not seem right to us.

Design and materials

This is where the most significant differences between the models lie - and we are not only talking about the "luxury" version, which hardly makes sense to consider. The Apple Watch Sport is very different from the Apple Watch.

First, the case of the Apple Watch Sport is made of anodized aluminum, while the case of the Apple Watch is made of stainless steel. This affects the weight, but also affects the durability and tactile sensations. Where the question of durability arises - there are drop tests, right?

Secondly, the Apple Watch Sport has more options body colors. Offered " gray space”, silver, gold and pink options - everything is like the iPhone (the last two options appeared not so long ago). But the Apple Watch is still available only in "space" and classic steel colors.

Compare aluminum cases:

And stainless steel cases:

Thirdly, protective glass. Apple display Watch is protected from damage by a heavy-duty sapphire crystal. But the Apple Watch Sport has a slightly simpler protection: Ion-X ionized glass.

Functional

In terms of functionality, various models The Apple Watch doesn't have any differences at all. All that can be noted: different resolution screen depending on its size, which is to be expected. The 38mm display has a resolution of 340x272 pixels, while the 42mm display has a resolution of 390x312 pixels. Both screens are characterized by Apple as Retina compliant, and support Force technology Touch, which allows you to respond to the force of pressing the screen.

Interfaces supported Bluetooth communications 4.0 and Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n, frequency 2.4 GHz). All watches are water resistant, which can be easily verified by numerous tests like this one:

For all models, 18 hours of operation are declared without recharging. Is it so? Done a lot of time trials battery life, giving slightly different results:

Operating system

All Apple Watches run the same operating system, watchOS, which is version 2.2 at the time of this writing. It is not difficult to understand its main features.

Accessories

Apple is constantly expanding the range of straps for Apple Watch, so we will not describe each model, but only note the main facts.

Straps have various sizes: both depending on the model of the device for which they are intended, and under different hands users. Also, straps can be divided into several main categories:

  • Sport Band - bright synthetic straps of "sporty" design.

  • Milanese Loop - the so-called "Milanese weaving" of nylon.

  • Modern Buckle - straps modern, but strict design not similar to "sports".

  • Leather Loop - straps made of genuine leather in various colors.

  • Link Bracelet - stainless steel bracelet.

The strap you use has a big impact on the overall price. There are also various exclusive bracelets. as well as covers. Here are examples of such products:

Prices

The cost of a stainless steel Apple Watch, depending on the size and strap, can vary greatly. For example, today in Russia prices start at 53 thousand rubles, and reach up to 96 thousand. With Apple Watch Sport, everything is easier - from 26 to 30 thousand rubles per this moment. What are the most popular options? For example, in the first month of sales, the distribution was approximately as follows:

Note that prices in Russia differ from American prices in big side. This is due both to Apple's concerns about the ruble exchange rate, and to the 10% customs duty levied due to the fact that Russian authorities consider Apple Watch wrist watch and not an electronic gadget.

We summarize the main things that were said above, in the pictures:

And finally, you can watch the video of the presentation of the gadget: hardly anyone will talk about Apple watch better than the top managers of the "apple" company.

"Smart" watches were developed without the participation of Steve Jobs. Their project was handled by Tim Cook, who took over the team after Jobs left. IWatch is a unique development that has every chance to take a leading position in the market modern technologies. This product has been designed for permanent iPhone users 5, 6. A lot of controversy is being sharpened today about how useful this invention is for society and whether it is needed at all. But the brand is taking over. The watch has proved to be in demand and popular all over the world. People all over the world are looking forward to the release of this product on the market. Two models turned out to be the most popular: classic and sports. They are similar to each other, but there are still some differences. Before choosing one or another option, you need to study the advantages and disadvantages of both models.

Differences in design and specifications

Apple Watch Sport are the most simple and budget version of this product. They have simple but reliable technical specifications. Among the factors affecting the quality of work and the durability of the goods, the following features of the watch are distinguished:

  1. The body is made of durable anodized aluminium.
  2. The screen is covered with ordinary glass of the Ion-X series. It is less durable than sapphire, but has better optical properties.
  3. The screen is presented in two sizes: 38 mm and 42 mm.
  4. The watch is waterproof.

When buying this product, you have the opportunity to choose from 10 different model variations. The straps are removable, multi-colored, they are commercially available from different materials. To understand which strap fit better, it is necessary to try them on with the watch. Silicone, rubber or iron - the choice is up to the buyer. Almost all shades are combined with dark gray and light gray body colors.

Apple Watch in classic version costs an order of magnitude more expensive and has other technical characteristics, although appearance it is not always understandable. This model also has a screen of two sizes - 38 mm and 42 mm. Accordingly, the price of bigger screen will be higher and the smaller one will be lower. The case is made of stainless steel, and the screen is covered with sapphire crystal, which is less susceptible to mechanical damage. To this type devices can also pick up a variety of straps different colors. There are 20 models in total in this series, so potential buyer there are plenty to choose from.

Characteristics of the functional sphere

Classic version and Apple Watch Sport practically do not differ in the scope of their functions. Both devices are tied to the iPhone 5, 6. Both models are designed not only to provide information, like conventional mechanical or Digital Watch, but also serve as a small, hand-held computer.

With the help of such "smart" watches, you can fully manage iPhone work. Volume control, music, applications, and much more is now available even if the main device is not at hand. Convenient feature iPhone search: if the user has lost his phone, then with a single click on the watch, the iPhone will respond with the appropriate signal.

My wearable experience starts and ends with - a great fitness tracker that counts both steps and sleep data equally well, acting as a silent alarm and motivating me to move more through special application for smartphone. But wearing two accessories - a watch and smart bracelet- was not always convenient. Therefore, from the Apple Watch, I first of all expected a combination of the functionality of a watch and a fitness tracker, and only then - a cool new device from Apple.

Purchase

Until the last minute of visiting Apple Store in Los Angeles, I was tormented by the question - what if the clock will slow down, as they wrote about it in the first reviews? These doubts were dispelled by communication with a copy at the stand in the store - everything worked very quickly, and the touch screen was not inferior in responsiveness to that in the iPhone. Plus, I was finally struck by the design of the device live - the watch looked great. As planned, I picked up the cheapest 42mm anodized aluminum version of the Apple Watch Sport. Taking into account the California state tax, the watch cost me about 24 thousand rubles (in Russia, this option will be sold for 27,990 rubles).

Design, Models and Specifications

To begin with, let's figure out what is the difference between the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport versions (we will leave the Edition version in a gold case behind the scenes). Matte body aluminum Apple versions The Watch Sport looks very cool and neat, but not quite as luxurious as the shiny steel of the Apple Watch. You have to pay for beauty: the difference between the basic versions of Watch and Watch Sport with the same black sports straps is 14,000 rubles. Case Watch Sport is also slightly lighter than steel, and instead of expensive sapphire glass uses the same protective glass as the iPhone, and judging by Western media reviews, it usually provides better readability in the sun (I did not have the opportunity to test the sapphire crystal, but on the Apple Watch Sport everything reads perfectly at the second of three backlight levels).

The display and filling in all versions are the same: a super-contrast Retina AMOLED screen with a resolution of 272 × 340 in the 38 mm version and 312 × 390. The pixel density is about the same as on the iPhone 6 and 5S: 290-302 pixels per inch - in my opinion, just right. The display looks great, especially the black color that blends in with the Apple case watch. In addition, the watch screen supports force touch- when pressed more strongly appears additional menus and, according to rumors, similar function coming soon to the next generation of iPhones. New governing body Digital Crown also perfectly copes with its purpose: it is convenient to scroll through long lists with it and fine-tune various options such as music volume. The interface looks stylish - contrasting colors on a black background, the usual Apple logic of the menu ( home button replaces pressing the Digital Crown) and many options for customizing the watch face. In general, if you love design Apple devices, you are unlikely to be disappointed even in the sports version of the Watch. Subjectively, this is the most attractive smartwatch you can buy today - both outside and inside.

Connecting to an iPhone

An important point: without a permanent iPhone connections via Bluetooth, the watch is still working extremely limited mode: time, music, photos and fitness data. There are no applications, SMS and calls, and indeed no connection with the outside world. The whole point is that Current version operating system (WatchOS) uses your internet connection, GPS, and even apps on your iPhone (iPhone 5, 5S, iPhone 6, and 6 Plus are supported). AT new firmware WatchOS 2 (coming out in September) will have standalone applications, but for now the watch works like this: the program runs in the background on the iPhone, and the watch is a kind of control panel. All programs are installed through the Apple Watch app for iOS 8.3, and updated through it operating system hours and change some other settings - for example, Glances widgets. You only need to sync your watch with iPhone via Bluetooth once, after which the device will be completely ready for use.

A nice moment: when the phone and watch are connected to the same Wi-Fi, the connection will go through it, so at home or in the office you do not need to constantly carry your iPhone with you.

Notifications

The main and most flawlessly working function of the watch is, oddly enough, push notifications that come here from a locked iPhone. Inside the Apple Watch hides a smart vibration motor Taptic Engine, which knows how to tell you about different notifications in different ways - from a light touch on the wrist to a pronounced double "tap". Each notification is accompanied by a characteristic sound and a characteristic "tap" - for standard Apple applications, they differ in strength and "pattern" of vibration, so over time you begin to instantly recognize what exactly you received - an email, SMS or a reminder that it's time to get up and stretch your legs.

To see a notification, just raise your wrist and look at the watch screen - from here you can also perform some actions: go to the application, reply to a letter or message, set a reminder for an event in the calendar. So far, the set of actions is limited only standard applications, in the future, support for third-party ones will be added. To dismiss the notification, you can press the "Dismiss" button, or you can simply lower your wrist. The watch has its own miniature notification center where missed messages accumulate - it all works great and eliminates the need to constantly check the phone. If you're getting too many notifications, you can always adjust which notifications appear on your smartwatch in the Apple Watch app.

Calls and SMS

Surprisingly, Apple Watch can make calls, receive calls and SMS, and even send messages using voice dialing. The Russian language is supported through Siri and works exactly the same as on the iPhone - that is, well. Calls are quite comfortable if you hold the watch at head level; the speaker is loud, the microphone is sensitive. As a rule, the interlocutors did not suspect that I was talking to them through the Apple Watch. With SMS and iMessage, it’s a little more complicated: if the dictation is wrong, nothing will be corrected, you will need to dictate again. The watch, however, has some standard responses pre-installed, which change depending on the content of the messages. But still, at the moment, this is a rather dubious feature. I think the problem will be partially resolved by supporting stickers in Telegram and Viber. In the meantime, contacts can be sent various emoticons and like it on Facebook Messenger.

Siri

The voice assistant Siri found its first regular use for me on the Apple Watch. Firstly, it is very convenient to call it - just raise your wrist and say "hello Siri". Secondly, with its help you can work with all built-in Apple apps Watch - I personally use a timer when I cook, set an alarm with my voice and add reminders.

Examples voice commands: "Set a timer for 2 minutes", "Wake me up at ten", "Remind me to buy milk when I'm around the house/tomorrow at noon". Siri also knows how to make calls, put music, in general, everything you expect from her on an iPhone. And if on the phone it is often faster to do everything with your hands, then on the Apple Watch it is almost the most fast way management.

Applications and Glances

Built-in apps are the expected calendar, clock, stopwatch, timer, weather, mail, music, messages, photos, fitness (more on that later). Minimum set, which works exactly as you would expect - but here, of course, you have to make allowances for the clock format.

View photos on small screen Apple Watch does not make much sense, but you can save several screenshots with data that you often need at hand, for example, credit card or bonus card numbers, in your “favorites”.

Built-in applications launch quickly, often instantly (which can not be said about third-party ones), and support the Force Touch functionality with might and main. A strong press switches the calendar view, opens the shuffle / repeat menu in music, changes parameters in the weather, and so on. You can call them by clicking on the elements of the dial, without even going to the menu - all this is configured to your taste. In most cases, it is convenient to work with applications, only Maps is frustrating - it constantly requests GPS data on an iPhone, it tries to load maps from the same place and as a result it works very slowly.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the widgets called Glances - they are called instantly by swiping up on the display and scrolling horizontally. The idea is this: Glances show the most important information- remote control music, pulse, battery charge, next event in the calendar. And clicking on the widget sends you to the application.

You can enable up to 20 of these widgets at the same time, and third-party applications are also supported. Many of them completely replace "large" applications - and since they all work quickly and are available immediately, I use Glances much more often, and do not climb into the watch menu.

There are exactly two problems with third-party applications on the Apple Watch so far: they are slow to load (Instagram - 2.5 seconds, Uber - 1.5 seconds, Skype - 2 seconds), and their design and functions are limited by the capabilities of the first WatchOS and the small display size. In watchOS 2, apps will have access to the microphone, speaker, customizable design, and a bunch of other things that Apple didn't have time to release, but most importantly, they'll learn how to run right from the watch, which should eliminate most of the delays and downloads. For now, I'm using third party programs mostly in the form of widgets - tells me about the balance on the map, Swarm - about popular places in the area, Instagram shows the last three posts in the feed.

Fitness tracker

The Activity program calculates three parameters every day, beautifully filling in colorful circles: total activity (Move, steps taken), high heart rate activity (Exercise, counts even if you just walk at a fast pace from point A to point B) and the time you spent on your feet (Stand, if you stay too long on the spot - the clock will remind you). Main feature, which distinguishes the Apple Watch from most fitness trackers is the optical heart rate sensor, which works pretty well (according to at least, not worse touch panels on the machines in the gym). Yes, it takes a few seconds to receive information about the pulse, and the watch must be tightly pressed to the hand - but the Apple Watch measures the pulse both during activity and at rest, and exports the data to the Health app on the iPhone. AT separate application Workout, you can set the duration of the workout, the type of load and the number of calories burned - then the watch will start recording the heart rate and distance traveled, as well as report the achievement of the calorie goal or training time.

Performance and Battery

In general, the Apple Watch with the current firmware in terms of performance is kept at good level comparable to previous generations of iPhones. "Brakes" only start at startup third party applications or when piling up widgets-Glances (I recommend limiting yourself to ten, then they will scroll smoothly). There is hope that all this will be decided in the autumn watchOS update, but for now, it seems that Apple just played it safe with power consumption - by the end of the day, my battery consistently shows 53-45% with quite active use.

To take or not to take?

At the moment, you can buy an Apple Watch for its fitness tracker features and notifications - all of which work well and eliminate the need to constantly check your phone and wear an additional fitness bracelet on your wrist. I will make a reservation that the Apple Watch, unlike many fitness trackers, does not count sleep phases, but it can count the pulse. Applications so far are convenient only in the Glances format or control with using Siri- this problem will be partially solved in the next WatchOS, and the final disposal of the “brakes” is expected in the next generation of the device.

In 2014, Apple Watch was presented to the public at the next presentation. Smart watches were made in three variations:

  1. Classic.
  2. sport.
  3. edition.

Many users have a question what exactly distinguishes Apple Watch: classic, Edition, Sport friend from friend, because after the presentation, the gadgets made a real stir. It is worth noting that the company has not announced anything like this before, and even in several variations. Photo: What makes Apple Watch different from each other? Note that the smart watch is one of the few products of the company, the development of which is not involved Steve Jobs. The product, developed under the leadership of Tim Cook, took a leading position among competitors in the very first days of its appearance.

Classic

The watch display is equipped with a sapphire crystal. For these gadgets, the company has developed:

  • 38 mm;

Conventionally, these two variations were designated by users as "" and "". The company also presents six designs of straps made of different materials:

  • metal;
  • skin;
  • polyurethane.

Edition

Variation ComparisonApple watch: basic,Edition,sport, can only be produced according to the material of the product. The technical "stuffing" of all devices is absolutely identical. These gadgets have the most high cost- The case is based on 18-carat gold, which is several times stronger than usual.

The display, as in the basic configuration, is made of sapphire crystal. Also on sale available version from rose gold. The device comes with a special "box" that acts as a charger.

Sport

The case of this version is a duo of anodized aluminum and composite material. The company also took care of protecting the sports model from moisture and dust.

Another difference between Apple Watch andversionSport- glass. Instead of sapphire, Ion-X glass was used - it is not as durable, as numerous tests show, but it has the best optical characteristics.
