A budget employee with an excellent camera. The best cheap smartphones with good cameras

Taking photographs has long been one of the main functions of a smartphone. Therefore, it is not surprising that many users are looking for a model with a good camera when buying a new smartphone. In particular, many are interested in a budget smartphone with a good camera and it is to this problem that we decided to devote this article. Unfortunately, in 2017 it is almost impossible to find a smartphone with a good camera in a frankly budget segment. Therefore, for this article, we have chosen a price range of 8 thousand rubles.

The Chinese company Xiaomi has long held a strong position in the budget smartphone market. She has a fairly wide range of smartphones in which everyone can find a model for their needs. There are smartphones with a good camera in this line. The most budget model is the Xiaomi Redmi 3.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 received a 13 megapixel camera with f / 2 aperture. Some sources indicate that this camera is built on the basis of a sensor from Samsung, but there is no official information.

The specifications of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 are good enough for a budget smartphone in this price range. It uses a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 × 720 and a pixel density of 294 dpi, an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor with an Adreno 405 graphics accelerator, 2 gigabytes of RAM, 16 gigabytes of expandable internal memory, and a 4100 mAh battery.

Price at the time of this writing: from 8 490 rubles.

ASUS has not yet gained great popularity in the smartphone market. Nevertheless, she has interesting models, especially among budget smartphones. One of these models is the Zenfone 2 Laser.

This smartphone received a fairly good camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels. The main feature of this camera is laser autofocus, which is usually found only in flagship smartphones. In addition, the camera is equipped with a dual LED flash, which allows you to make a powerful illumination when photographing in low light conditions.

Otherwise, ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser has characteristics typical of mid-range smartphones. It uses a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 × 720 and a pixel density of 294 dpi, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with an Adreno 306 graphics accelerator and a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, 2 gigabytes of RAM, and a 2400 mAh battery.

Price at the time of this writing: from 10,770 rubles.

If you need a budget smartphone with a good selfie camera, then you should pay attention to another smartphone from ASUS, namely the ASUS ZenFone Selfie model. This smartphone is a little more expensive, but apart from a good camera on the back of the device, it also received a good selfie camera.

Selfie camera resolution is as much as 13 megapixels, and its viewing angle is 140 degrees. In addition, there is also a dual flash to illuminate your selfies in low light conditions.

The rest of the ZenFone Selfie's specifications are also slightly superior to the Zenfone 2 Laser. It uses a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 and a pixel density of 401 ppi, an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with an Adreno 405 graphics accelerator and a clock speed of 1.7 GHz, 2 gigabytes of RAM, 16 gigabytes of internal memory with expandability, as well as battery 3000 mAh.

Price at the time of this writing: from 16,080 rubles.

Lenovo Vibe Shot is a relatively budget smartphone with a good camera from Lenovo. This model received a high-quality camera with a resolution of 16 megapixels, as well as a number of additional photo chips. For example, the Vibe Shot camera has received optical stabilization, six-component optics of improved clarity, and a triple LED flash. The maximum photo resolution that this camera gives is: 4000 x 3000 dots in 4: 3 mode and 5328 x 2997 dots in 16: 9 mode. It should also be noted that this smartphone also received a good front camera. The front camera has 8 megapixels, which is quite a lot, even by the standards of 2016.

The rest of the technical specifications of the Lenovo Vibe Shot are average. This model received a 5-inch screen with FullHD resolution, an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with an Adreno 405 graphics accelerator, as well as 3 gigabytes of RAM and a 2900 mAh battery.

Price at the time of this writing: from 12,990 rubles.

08 September 2016

This article will tell you if you can buy a smartphone with a good camera and if there are inexpensive smartphones with a good camera.

In short, smartphones with a good camera do not exist, since this is contrary to the laws of physics and today's level of technology.

However, there are models of smartphones that allow, in favorable conditions, to take photographs that can be viewed on a computer, tablet or smartphone. Recommendations for choosing such smartphones will be at the end of this article.

And if someone tells you that you can take great photos on your XXXX smartphone, don't believe it. The person either does not understand photography, or is deceiving you (if, for example, a consultant in a store).

So why isn't a smartphone with a really good camera possible?

Making a camera is much more difficult than making a minicomputer, and a smartphone is a minicomputer. This is easy to see if you just compare the number of manufacturers of computer devices (computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones). There are probably hundreds of such manufacturers in the world today. The Chinese even make smartphones in garages.

But the manufacturers of cameras, all over the world, it is good if there are a dozen. The same Chinese make laptops, cars, watches. But cameras don't. There are no Chinese companies that make cameras. The Chinese copy Apple smartphones, but do not copy Sony or Nikon cameras.

Because the main thing in a camera is not electronics, but optics, a lens. The lens is a very complicated device to manufacture. At a minimum, the lens contains two lenses and a special mechanism that adjusts the amount of light flux (aperture).

In a good lens, lenses are not just glass. They use ultra-pure glass, which must be processed to obtain ultra-clean, polished, spherical surfaces. Obtaining such clean glass and processing it requires high precision equipment and highly qualified personnel.

In addition to the lenses, the lens uses a precision aperture mechanism that is controlled either manually or electrically. If the lens has a variable focal length, then there are even more lenses in it and, in addition, the mechanism for moving these lenses. Manufacturing all these parts and assembling them into a finished lens is difficult and expensive. Good lenses cost more than cameras.

In addition to the high cost of lenses, there is another problem that is more significant when applied to smartphones.

This is the size of the lens.

Even the simplest lenses that are used on the cheapest cameras have dimensions that are impossible for a smartphone.

Moreover, in digital photography there is a dependence - to improve the quality of photography, you need to increase the physical size of the sensor (photocell matrix), and the larger the matrix size, the larger the lens size for this matrix. If you have seen professional cameras, then their lens size is usually larger than the size of the camera itself.

How are smartphone cameras made?

To be precise, the smartphone does not have a camera. There is a tiny photo sensor without a lens.

Smartphones are equipped with an assembly (photomodule) consisting of a tiny matrix and the same tiny lens. Moreover, the lenses are often not even glass, but plastic. Stamped plastic lenses.

To make it clearer - the size of the matrices that are used in smartphones is it usually? inches or less (diagonal). Which is about half the size of the cheapest cameras.

As a result, the pictures that can be taken with such a camera are extremely limited in terms of shooting conditions. There should be very good light - not bright, not weak, not contrasting. The subject should be close to the camera. The subject should not have a clear geometric shape.

Smartphone cameras have a wide angle (short focal length), and when shooting through a wide-angle lens, the proportions of objects are disturbed, which is especially clearly seen in photographs of buildings or photographs in the interior. You won't be able to make a portrait from a smartphone either - the proportions of the face or figure will be violated, again this is a problem of the short focal length of the lens (wide angle).

If the light is too strong, the photo will be overexposed. In low light, the photo will be dark and noisy. And nothing can be done about it. On a smartphone, there is no way to control the exposure and, in addition, the tiny matrix has a very low sensitivity to light.

And if the lens is plastic, it even worsens the situation. And there is also dust and dirt on the lens, because the lens of the smartphone camera is always open.

It is impossible to enlarge the matrix - then you will have to increase the focal length, and this will increase the height of the photo module, and this, in turn, will increase the thickness of the smartphone. Who will buy a smartphone two centimeters thick?

You can add aperture, but you need more space inside the smartphone. And the electric diaphragm will eat up the battery power.

In general, everything is hopeless. And if someone promises you good photos from a smartphone - do not believe it. It's impossible.

Technically, of course, you can make a smartphone with a decent camera, but such a smartphone will be two centimeters thick and weigh more than two hundred grams. Brick. And this is no longer a smartphone, as we used to perceive it. See photos and specifications Samsung Galaxy Camera or Panasonic Lumix CM1.

So, the only thing you can count on is more or less decent photos in ideal shooting conditions. Moreover, these photos will be suitable only for viewing on a computer, tablet or smartphone.

Well, now it’s more substantive about the choice of a smartphone.

Smartphones with a good camera

You can confidently count on three manufacturers - Sony, Samsung, Nokia... Sony and Samsung because they make photographic equipment. They have technology, equipment, experience. Sony in this sense is preferable, because it does cameras much better than Samsung. Sony is one of the leaders in the production of cameras. But Samsung also has good results in this area.

Nokia has nothing to do with photography, but it has always taken the cameras of its phones and smartphones very seriously. They even had a model 808, which became legendary thanks to its excellent (among phones, of course) camera. Probably Nokia buys photomodules for its smartphones from Sony or some other serious manufacturer. Now Nokia is releasing smartphones Lumia which have very decent cameras.

Models with good cameras are possible. Asus, Lenovo, HTC... The companies are serious, with a good reputation. They are erasing to release balanced smartphones.

Basically, a decent camera is possible in any smartphone that costs over $ 200. This does not mean, of course, that every smartphone over $ 200 will necessarily have a good camera, but in general it is possible.

If you're lucky, you can find a smartphone for between $ 150 and $ 200 with a good camera.

If you're very lucky, even for a price between $ 100 and $ 150.

It is unrealistic to buy a smartphone with a good camera for less than $ 100. Only if a used or very old model is on sale.

When choosing a smartphone with a good camera, you don't need to pay attention to the number of megapixels. More megapixels doesn't mean better. With a tiny image sensor, a lot of pixels actually degrade the final result.

The best value for a smartphone camera is 5 or 8 megapixels. Good cameras with high resolution - 13, 20 megapixels - are possible only in expensive models from Sony, Samsung, Nokia.

A 5 megapixel camera in a Sony or Nokia smartphone will almost certainly be better than an 8 or 13 megapixel camera in a Chinese smartphone. Although, of course, the same Sony photomodule can be installed in a Chinese smartphone, such a smartphone will most likely cost more than $ 200.

Smartphones with a great camera

These are expensive models of smartphones Sony, Samsung, Nokia. Perhaps some other companies, for example HTC. The cost of at least $ 400-500.

But again, you need to understand that the camera will be excellent only in comparison with other smartphones. Any good compact camera for the price of $ 200-300 will do a smartphone camera at any price. Even if the smartphone costs $ 1000, its camera will lose to an inexpensive compact for $ 200-300.

But among smartphones, it will certainly be great.

Alternatively, you can consider not a smartphone, but a cameraphone. This is a very compact camera with added functionality of a phone (smartphone). The cameraphone looks almost the same as a smartphone, only it is much thicker (more than two centimeters). And his lens protrudes from the body. For example, cameras such as Samsung Galaxy K Zoom or Panasonic Lumix CM1 or Kodak Ektra or Nokia 1020.

Inexpensive smartphone with a good camera

In principle, of course, it is possible to buy a smartphone with a good camera inexpensively. You just need to understand that the cost of a new smartphone should be at least $ 150. But for such a price, it will be necessary to purposefully search and search for a long time. You may have to buy a used smartphone.

But as the price rises (more than $ 150), the likelihood of getting a good camera in a smartphone increases.

You also need to understand that the likelihood of getting a good camera in a Chinese smartphone is much lower than in a smartphone from Sony, Samsung, Nokia, HTC, Asus, Lenovo.

And we must remember that there are no miracles. If some manufacturer or seller promises you a good camera in a smartphone for $ 100 or $ 150, this is almost certainly a hoax. When manufacturers make inexpensive smartphones, the camera is the first thing they start to save on.

Cheap smartphones are equipped with cheap Chinese photomodules, which have a bad, tiny matrix and a plastic lens. A frequent "theme" in cheap smartphones is virtual megapixels. The Chinese take a photomodule with a matrix, for example, 2 megapixels, and these two megapixels are programmatically stretched to 5 or even 8 megapixels and write in the specifications - “our smartphone has an 8 megapixel camera”. But in fact, the smartphone shows a picture enlarged to 8 megapixels from a physical 2 megapixel.

The rules for finding a smartphone with a good camera are simple:

  • Don't chase cheapness. A cheap smartphone won't even have a decent camera.
  • Don't chase megapixels. Better Sony or Nokia 5MP than China's 13MP.
  • If you like a certain smartphone model, search the Internet for sample photos from this smartphone and study them carefully.

Smartphones up to 10,000 with a good camera

At the rate of 2016, this is just over $ 150. At this price, in 2016, you can buy Lumia 550, Lumia 640, Samsung J1... For such a price, there is even a chance to find a new smartphone with a very decent camera, for example Lumia 640. If you are lucky, you can find an option when in some store they sell the remnants of old models at a discount. For example, in the summer of 2016 in the Megafon store there was Sony Xperia M(2013 model) priced in the region as low as $ 100.

Here's an example of photos taken from a smartphone Lumia 550:

Here are the same photos, but larger in size 1400 x 1080 pixels and 1430x1080.

Here is a photo taken from a smartphone Samsung J3 2016:

Photo, but larger, 1400 x 1080 pixels.

Smartphone with a good camera up to 5000 rubles

Although you can actually search for BU. Or maybe somewhere there will be a very old model with a very big discount. For example, in September 2016 there is a smartphone in the assortment of the Megafon online store Sony Xperia M C1095(2013 model) for 5500 rubles. The same Sony Xperia M can be found on Avito for less than 5,000 rubles (BU of course).

Cameras of budget smartphones

If we take the amount of 100 - 150 dollars for the budget, then the chances increase slightly. For that kind of money, you can buy the already mentioned Lumia 550 and Samsung J1.

Chinese smartphone with a good camera

Again, you need to look at the price. If a Chinese smartphone costs around $ 100 or less, then it will definitely have a bad camera. If a Chinese smartphone costs around $ 150 or more, then it could potentially have a decent camera. After all, no one bothers the conventional Chinese company "Xiao-Miao" to buy photo modules from Samsung or Sony and put them into their smartphones. The only question is, how do you know that a Sony photomodule is installed in the Chinese smartphone "Xiao-Miao", not a cheap "garage" one?

If we assess the likelihood, then more than 50% percent for the fact that such a smartphone will have a photo module from the “neighboring garage”. From the same Chinese company, but with a different name "Miao-Xiao".

However, with an increase in the price of a smartphone, the likelihood that it will have a good photo module from a serious manufacturer increases.

Cheap smartphone with a good camera

It's impossible.

Only if the smartphone is strong in the middle price range. Let's say the new one cost $ 300, and they sell it for $ 50. Because there the glass on the screen is cracked. Or it is all scratched, worn out.

A smartphone cannot replace a full-fledged camera

Even an inexpensive compact camera will always take a better photo than a smartphone. For comparison, here are two photos taken under the same conditions, at the same time. From a smartphone to a compact camera.

Smartphone Lumia 550- a very decent (by the standards of smartphones) 5 megapixel camera.

Compact camera Nikon, photography with a resolution of 4 megapixels, a focal length of 28 mm (like Lumiya's):

At first glance, the photos are the same, and even Lumiya's is prettier. But the thing is that Lumiya lies a lot in flowers - "photoshop" in all its glory. And in Nikon's photo, the colors are accurately reproduced.

Choosing from the countless number of smartphones budget models with a good camera and a capacious battery is a difficult task. To solve it, we studied the characteristics of inexpensive phones, read user reviews on Yandex.Market and chose the ten most "long-lived" smartphones from popular smartphones and at the same time shoot in good quality. Introducing you inexpensive smartphones with a good camera and battery in 2018.

You can buy it for 10,990 rubles.

This slim and sleek smartphone is housed in a durable metal body, has a 5.2-inch IPS screen, and is equipped with a Mediatek MT6750 processor, one of the most common in the budget segment in 2017. With 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, you can run most applications quickly.

The pride of the device is a 3000 mAh battery, which is enough for a full working day with a full load (calls, internet, instant messengers).

The main 13-megapixel camera of the Honor 6C Pro takes pictures with realistic colors in good lighting, and has a fairly simple and intuitive interface. However, you should not expect from her a quality comparable to that.

Pros:

  • The gadget supports memory cards up to 128 GB. This way, you can store more songs, photos and videos on your smartphone.
  • It has a 3.5mm jack, which means you can connect your smartphone to a wide variety of other devices equipped with a 3.5mm port.

Minuses:

  • Like most other smartphones, the Honor 6C Pro's body is very slippery. The cover is a must-have accessory.
  • There is no gyroscope.
  • In low light, the camera takes mediocre photos.
  • No NFC.

The cost is 10 631 rubles.

In ninth place in the ranking is a distant descendant of the unkillable Nokia 3310. The smartphone with a powerful battery and a good camera stands out from the ranks of the competition with its reliable one-piece aluminum body with 4 color options and smooth edges.

The 5.2-inch Nokia 5 is powered by an 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The smartphone is equipped with a main camera with a resolution of 13 MP with dual-color LED flash, which allows you to record Full HD 1080p video. The front camera has a resolution of 8MP - more than enough for good quality selfies.

The battery capacity is 3000 mAh, which is enough for a day of intensive work.

In addition, the smartphone has a fingerprint sensor and, surprisingly for an inexpensive device, an NFC chip.

Pros:

  • The case does not slip in the hand, the tactile sensations are very pleasant.
  • Both cameras have autofocus.
  • There is a slot for expanding memory. Moreover, a separate "tray" is allocated for the memory card, and two SIM cards can be inserted into their slots.

Minuses:

  • In poor lighting conditions, fast-moving subjects are blurred in pictures.
  • Sometimes the smartphone slows down a little when opening "heavy" Internet pages.
  • The manufacturer did not provide an LED indicator for missed notifications and calls in this model.

8. Meizu M6

The average cost is 8,340 rubles.

If you are interested in good smartphones up to 10,000 rubles with a good camera and battery, then here is one of the best representatives of this "breed".

The smartphone is the successor to the Meizu M5, with some improvements and a very competitive price. It is equipped with a 5.2-inch screen with HD resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, an eight-core MediaTek MT6750 processor, 2 or 3 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of internal memory, depending on the selected configuration.

The battery has a capacity of 3070 mAh, which is enough for a day of surfing the Internet, reading instant messengers and watching videos.

The new model of the Meizu smartphone is equipped with a better front camera, which now has 8 MP and f / 2.0 aperture, while the previous model had 5 MP. The main camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels with an aperture of f / 2.2 and autofocus takes realistic in color and "not soapy" pictures.

Pros:

  • Very fast fingerprint sensor.
  • You can expand the memory up to 128 GB.
  • Great value for these features.

Minuses:

  • Doesn't handle heavy games.
  • The screen is very fragile and is not protected by either a bezel or a side. Dropping your phone is strongly discouraged.
  • Under artificial lighting, the quality of photography is significantly reduced.
  • No NFC.

The average cost is 11 620 rubles.

The successor to Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 boasts a huge 5.99-inch screen with an 18: 9 aspect ratio typical of premium phones.

As for the Xiaomi Redmi 5 cameras, there are two of them: 12 MP with autofocus and 5 MP for selfies. Indoors they get just good shots, but outdoors they are very detailed and clear.

For a device with such a large screen, they also picked up an impressive battery, as much as 4000 mAh. According to reviews, for a day of active work, the smartphone is discharged by 50%. At the same time, neither the battery nor the processor gets warm.

The Snapdragon 630 processor is not the fastest and most powerful processor on the market, it is a good mid-range processor, whose capabilities are more than enough for most games and applications. The RAM in the smartphone is 3 or 4 GB, and the internal memory is 32 or 64 GB (expandable with a micro-SD card).

Pros:

  • The screen is excellent in brightness and viewing angles.

Among its features: RAM from 1.5 to 2 GB, quad-core chip Exynos 7570, support for memory cards up to 256 GB and 16 "original" GB for storing user information.

The 5MP front camera has a flash, which is unusual for budget devices. And the main 13 MP camera shoots excellently during the day.

As for the autonomy, even an inexpensive Samsung representative puts more expensive models on the shoulder. The battery, it would seem, is only 2400 mAh, but due to the small screen and HMP technology, the phone in active mode can last a whole day without recharging.

Pros:

  • Separate compartment for memory cards.
  • The sound speaker is located on the side of the case, so you can't block it with your hand while playing.

Minuses:

  • There is no light sensor, the screen brightness will have to be adjusted manually.

The Chinese "Xiaomi" is positioned as a company that makes inexpensive and functional gadgets in terms of price and quality. Vivid proof of this is the Redmi 4X - the successor to the Redmi Note 4 smartphone.

The 5-inch novelty differs from the older model not only in the smaller screen size, but also in the hardware platform. Specifically, a Snapdragon 625 processor with a maximum clock speed of 2 GHz. The smartphone supports 4 GB of RAM (there is a version with less GB), and is equipped with a graphics accelerator 506 Adreno, while the Redmi Note 4 has a Mali-T880 MP4.

If we take a look at the whole list of functions of the device, we will find there from 16 to 64 GB of internal memory (expandable via microSD up to 128 GB), and a battery with a capacity of 4100 mAh.

The rear 13 MP camera has not only phase detection autofocus, but also a macro mode. In good natural or artificial lighting, shots are detailed and vivid. But in low light, "noise" appears in the photo, and the detailing deteriorates. The same situation with the dependence of photo quality on lighting is observed with the front 5 MP camera with a fixed focus.

Pros:

  • Robust all-metal housing.
  • Thanks to the not too power-consuming processor, you can forget about charging your smartphone for a couple of days.
  • The device works smartly, users did not notice glitches and lags.

Minuses:

  • The screen is not Full HD, just HD.
  • In low light, the camera does not shoot well.
  • No NFC.

It is offered for 16 350 rubles.

The 5.2-inch smartphone with a bright AMOLED display is an improved version of one of the ex-Meizu flagships. The most important change for the Meizu Pro 6s is the battery. Instead of the 2560mAh capacity of the previous model, the Pro 6s comes with a 3060mAh battery.

The camera has also undergone an update, it has a new IMX386 sensor from Sony, which benefited the quality of the photo. The main characteristics of the camera are f / 2.0 aperture, laser focusing and optical image stabilization. A new feature has been added to shooting modes for shooting at night.

And now the phone only has one amount of internal storage - 64GB. And the amount of RAM is 4 GB.

  • The camera shoots perfectly both during the day and at night.
  • The fast processor MediaTek Helio X25 allows you to play modern games and open many applications without freezing.

Minuses:

  • There is no memory expansion option.
  • No NFC.

The battery, at first glance, is unassuming - 2650 mAh. But according to the results of benchmarks, the battery life of the gadget is quite comparable to that of competitors. In video viewing mode, it lasts up to 7 hours, and intensive web surfing can be conducted for all 8 hours.

The camera has many manual settings, a resolution of 16 MP, digital zoom, dual-LED flash, autofocus, and with all this goodness makes very high-quality, detailed and "silent" photos.

Pros:

  • Supports memory cards up to 2 TB.
  • There is a usb type c.
  • The phone is very fast and almost glitch-free.

Minuses:

Both cameras, both rear and front, have a resolution of 16 megapixels. In the case of the main camera, optical stabilization is also provided. And with Ultrapixel technology, photos come out clearer and brighter, even in low light.

The 2500 mAh battery can withstand a day of work in medium mode.

  • There is USB Type C.
  • Super bright yet energy efficient Super LCD technology.
  • There is NFC.
