Fast disk in RAM. RAM Disks: How to Improve Computer Performance

We learned how to create it using the free SoftPerfect RAM Disk program. And today we'll talk about how to use a RAM disk to speed up your computer, in particular, work with.

How to use a RAM disk?

In fact, there are many ways to use this virtual disk. I will highlight only a few of the most popular:

  • Moving the TEMP folders of the operating system;
  • Transferring the cache of programs or games;
  • Installation of portable versions of programs entirely on a RAM disk.

I do not pretend to be correct in all actions performed. This is not the only correct decision in this matter. This is just my experience based on the study of this issue from different angles.

Well, let's get started!

Transferring the Google Chrome browser cache to a RAM disk

Before proceeding with the actions described above, let's understand the theory a little.

Browser cache Is a folder with files. It stores data that the browser saves from the Internet in order to speed up the subsequent loading of the previously opened site. In other words - much faster than the speed of working with the Internet .. Then, when you re-visit our site, it is loaded not from the Internet, but from the browser cache.

The explanation is completely simplified, but reflects the essence. The browser has its own algorithms for working with the cache, which we will not delve into. It is enough for us to understand - to speed up the work with the browser cache, we can put it on a RAM disk.

In order to transfer the Google Chrome cache, we will use the most efficient method - using symbolic links.

Symbolic link- a file that contains a pointer to go to a specific file or folder. A kind of shortcut that doesn't contain any data by itself, but is a pointer. For more information about symbolic links, see.

The browser cache and user profile files of the Google Chrome browser are located along the path:

c: \Users \ (username) \AppData \Local \Google \Chrome \

So, to speed up the work, we need to transfer this folder to the RAM disk. We will do this step by step. The Google Chrome browser must be closed. With this in mind, I prepared this instruction in which you can open in parallel on a computer or phone. But before starting, read the entire article carefully, install the necessary program and create a RAM disk.

  1. We createRAM disk, to which we will transfer the browser cache. It would be nice to make it at least 1 GB and always in NTFS format. Given that the browser user profile will be stored there, you need to associate it with an image file to save this data after turning off the computer. You can read how to do this in this series of articles.
  2. on the RAM disk a folder named Chrome.
  3. Open the folder c: \Users \ (username) \AppData \Local \Google \Chrome \ in explorer or Total Commander. Do not forget to enable the display of hidden files in Windows beforehand.
  4. Cut and paste the contents of this folder anywhere, for example on the D drive. This is temporary.
  5. We check that the folder c: \Users \ (username) \AppData \Local \Google \Chrome \ was empty.
  6. Go to the previously created RAM disk and create a folder Chrome .
  7. Next, we will use the program for creating and editing symbolic links - Junction Link Magic. Download it from the official website and install it. In the main window, click on the button Create to create a new symbolic link. You will have to wait a bit until the creation window opens, this is normal.

    The creation window consists of two panels. On the left, the source of the file or folder is displayed, on the right, the location to which we want to make a symbolic link.

    Link creation window

    Note! To create a symbolic link, you need to fulfill 2 requirements:
    1. The disk must be in NTFS format. This can be set even when creating a RAM disk.
    2. The source folder and the folder to which the link will lead must be empty.

    In the left window, open the folder c: \Users \ (username) \AppData \Local \Google \Chrome \

    In the right window (yourRAM disk): \Chrome \
    After that we press the button Create... We agree with the warning.

  8. Copy the contents of the folder Chrome which we saved in a temporary folder on drive D to the folder Chrome on a RAM disk.

    Moving a folder back

  9. Launch the Google Chrome browser and enjoy its work.

Outcomes

I have been using this method for about a month now and I can say that it really gives a good increase in the speed of work. It is also a bonus that it saves the SSD resource. After all, a bunch of small files that make up the browser cache no longer terrorize the SSD every 2 seconds, thereby reducing its resource.

The cache size in my case does not exceed 700 MB, despite the fact that I have 4 users created in my browser. I clean it regularly with a program.

If you are interested, I will write a material about what other ways there are to use a RAM disk in home practice.

If you liked this article, don't forget to like it, share with your friends, and do your morning exercises!

RAM drive, RAM disk (disk in memory), electronic disk - a computer technology that allows you to store data in high-speed random access memory as a block device (disk). It can be implemented both in software and hardware.

The idea of using semiconductor memory as the main storage medium in a PC arose far from today. Its implementation is possible both as a separate device and as a virtual disk in RAM.

One can argue about the effectiveness of this approach, there are different opinions: someone talks about an increase in performance by orders of magnitude, who denies the expediency of RAM Disk in principle.

After reading some information on the network and trying to use memory as a disk on my computer, conducting appropriate tests, mine and the experiments of other users showed that with a sufficient amount of RAM, the use of RAM Disk almost always has a positive effect.

The number of requests to the hard disk decreases (the HDD resource increases), the execution speed of some applications increases, though not hundreds of times, as some promise.

For example, you need to work with photos or a video file, write it (them) to a disk in memory and work with these files at the speed and speed of our memory. True, there is a nuance, the memory should be commensurate with the files and the cache for processing them. And if the power is suddenly turned off, then all the work can be lost. So we use UPS or laptop :)

Many browsers store a lot of all kinds of junk in databases that almost do not use computer memory, as a result, after a month of use, even typing an address becomes torture - the hard drive creaks, letters are typed in a second. All these problems are removed.

Main advantages:

# Extremely high access speed (up to several gigabytes per second);
# No delays in random access;
# Implementation without using additional hardware components;

Main disadvantages:

# Consumption of an extremely valuable resource (RAM);
# Small capacities (if there are 500-1000GB hard drives on the market, RAM modules are calculated in units of gigabytes);
# Loss of content on shutdown (can be partially overcome by saving the contents to disk during shutdown, but there is still a risk of information loss due to abnormal power outages);

Attention! I warn you - this article is for advanced users, there are a lot of pitfalls! So everything that you will do, you do only at your own peril and risk.

So, the idea is simple. Make a RAMDisk (virtual "disk" in the computer's memory) and make programs store their affairs there.

1. Download one of the programs for creating a virtual disk in RAM - RAMDisk "\ Enterprise \". Among all similar products, RAMDisk "\ Enterprise \" stands out if only because the Russian-language version of RAMDisk "\ Enterprise \" is distributed free of charge, moreover, it has sufficient functionality and stability.

RAM Disk: http: // ramdisk .nm .ru / ramdiskent -rus .htm

The software consists of a RAMDisk driver (RAMDriv.sys), an installer support library and property page (RAMDriv.dll) and an installation file (RAMDriv.inf), which together, through the "\ Hardware Setup \" wizard, allow you to install RAMDisk on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Server 2003 and Vista.

For Windows 7 - go to Toolbox, System and Security, to Device Manager. In the Action menu, select install the old device. And manually point to the driver file.

In other systems, I think you can figure out how to install it yourself.

The settings are set through the RAMDisk properties in “\ Device Properties \” through “\ Device Manager \” Windows. The new values can be activated without rebooting.

We press to configure operations with the image file and create an image file.

So that the data is not lost, put a checkmark "Save image when unloading the driver". Loading and shutting down the system will take a little longer, but for us the main thing is fast work.

If you work with photo or video data and do not want to accidentally lose them, you can periodically dump the disk image onto the hard screw by selecting the appropriate option "Save RAMDISK contents in the image ... etc."

In principle, that's all. We put a tick "Restart RAMDISK after clicking OK", click "OK" and enjoy.

A virtual disk can also be used for its intended purpose (like a normal medium - HDD), placing on it not only temporary and swap files, but also programs, user profiles, etc. There are publications with recommendations for using RAMDisk to place temporary 1C files , one of Photoshop's scratch disks, and so on. Moreover, it is argued that productivity actually increases, although not significantly.

An interesting solution might be to use a RAMDisk to improve the security of the system, since the data in RAM is destroyed upon shutdown. Naturally, in this case, the function of saving / restoring virtual disk images should be disabled.

Now a little about setting up Windows

It should be noted that the use of RAMDisk, depending on the tasks, can differ significantly, i.e. at the discretion of the user.

For example:

To change the parameters of the system using standard procedures:

Let's set the size and transfer the paging file to RAMDisk.

We will perform a similar procedure in relation to the placement of "Temporary Internet files"

Speed up Firefox.

Open the "Start" menu and click "Run ...".

In the window that appears, type% appdata% \\ Mozilla \\ Firefox \\ Profiles and press "Enter". A window will open in which you will see a directory named "abracadabra.default". This is your Firefox profile folder.

Open the "Start" menu and click "Run ..."

In the window that appears, type% appdata% \\ Mozilla \\ Firefox \\ profiles.ini and press "Enter".

Notepad will open with the downloaded "profiles.ini" file. Replace "Profiles /" in the "Path" variable with "Z: \\", where Z is the letter of your ramdisk.

Make sure the "IsRelative" value is zero.

StartWithLastProfile = 1

Path = Z: \\ gibberish.default

Launch firefox and enter about: config in the address bar of the browser. We agree that we will be careful and get to the firefoxa configuration page.

Right-click anywhere, select New -> String and set browser.cache.disk.parent_directory as the parameter name, and the path to the folder where the cache will be stored as the value. Z: \\ gibberish.default

A few more settings:

// Cache and memory
user_pref (\ "browser.cache.memory.enable \", false); // cache in memory is meaningless
user_pref (\ "browser.cache.offline.enable \", false); // why is it needed at all
user_pref (\ "browser.turbo.enabled \", false); // for whom it is enabled - disable it. the parameter loads the Fox part into memory for quick start. now everything is fast and in our memory
user_pref (\ "config.trim_on_minimize \", false); // not necessary either. the parameter resets Fox from memory to swap. on whist and 7 still does not work

Close Firefox.

Copy the "abracadabra.default" folder to the ramdisk. If there are requests to replace files, answer in the affirmative.

Restart Firefox.

We also change the paths of the system variables% TMP% and% TEMP%

Control panel (this is for windows 7), system and security, view the name of this computer, advanced system settings, environment variables.

Change the system variables% TMP% and% TEMP% to the letter of your RAMDISKa Z: \\ Temp:

The problem is that many programs, for example, WinRAR or installers will unpack temporary files in R: \\ TMP, and if this file is more than free space, then unpacking will not reach the end, and the archive will not be unpacked.

Is it worth it?

For me, yes. The health of the hard drive and the speed of browsing are very important to me.

There are inconveniences, but they are scanty (save the state before rebooting, restore on power-up - of course - not for a novice user), but you have to clean the cache periodically (but this can be avoided by taking up more memory under RAMDisk or by writing a script that will clean the cache itself).

That's all for now, if anyone has additions, then write, we will add.

In one of the previous articles, the question of the advisability of creating a virtual disk in RAM was considered. Now it's time to figure out which programs to create RAMDisk better to choose. Three tools were chosen from the whole variety of software:

  • qSoft RAMDisk Enterprise
  • Dataram RAMDisk
  • SoftPerfect RAM Disk

During testing using ATTO and CrystalDiskMark benchmarks, the speed characteristics of the created disks will be examined. In addition, applications will run in both 32-bit and 64-bit environments. This will allow you to find out which of the proposed RAM disks are best adapted for a 64-bit environment, because in the future it will be necessary.

Dataram RAMDisk

There are not so many settings in the program, but you can load and save the image to disk at startup or shutdown. The maximum disk size is 3240 MB. The program allows you to create only one virtual disk partition.

SoftPerfect RAM Disk

The program allows you to install a RAMdisk in the amount of several pieces. The program does its job well, all the necessary settings are available. However, the program is paid and will work without restrictions for only 30 days. Then he will refuse to start, he will demand money.

qSoft RAMDisk Enterprise

Finally, let's consider the version from qSoft. This program is the most functional of all those offered. Versions for 32- and 64-bit systems are supplied separately. The number of settings is quite large. By default, everything is configured as needed - you just need to specify the desired size of the virtual disk. In addition, you can set the dynamic size of the partition, which will grow automatically when there is not enough space on it.

Test stand

Motherboard - Asus M4A88T-V Evo
Processor - AMD Athlon II 635
Memory - Samsung DDR3 PC3-10600

The rest of the computer components do not play a special role. The system worked at standard frequencies and did not overclock. Before the test, the BIOS settings were reset to their factory defaults.

RAMDisk 32-bit.

Let's start comparing the performance of all three programs in 32-bit mode. The time-tested Windows XP acts as an operating system. Disks of about 250-300 MB were created, after which the speed of their work was measured. To do this, we used the benchmarks used for testing hard drives (after all, RAMDisk in this case acts like a regular hard drive). ATTO and CrystalDiskMark were chosen from the tests. For this experiment, the HD Tune test, which communicates to devices (hard drives and SSDs) directly, and not to partitions on them, did not fit. Therefore, HD Tune simply did not find two of the three disks. All disks were formatted in FAT32 file system with standard cluster size.

So, the test results (clickable).

The ATTO benchmark, which informs about the operation of devices on different cluster sizes, showed an unusual picture. With an increase in the cluster size, the speed first grew (which is natural for ordinary media), and then, reaching a peak of 128 and 256 KB, it began to drop (which is already quite strange). Moreover, this peak really corresponds to the maximum speed of the RAM disk. This is confirmed by other tests as well. Probably, the algorithms by which the program works are optimized for ordinary hard drives and SSDs and begin to work not quite correctly at the ultra-high speeds typical of RAM.

The leadership was taken by RAMDisk Enterprise from qSoft. It outperformed SoftPerfect by 5% and Dataram by 10%. Moreover, the main gap falls on areas with a small cluster size, which is typical for real operations, for example, when loading an operating system or launching applications.

The second test - CrystalDiskMark also showed interesting results (clickable).

Here again, the first place belongs to RAMDisk Enterprise. In linear read and write operations, it outperformed its competitors by about the same difference as in the previous test. But on a small block size, the gap has increased many times. Here RAMDisk Enterprise is out of competition, the performance on 4 KB blocks fell by only three times. In contrast, the Dataram Ramdisk showed an almost tenfold drop in performance compared to linear parameters. SoftPerfect showed an intermediate result.

RAMDisk 64-bit

Now let's move on to testing in a 64-bit environment, which is Windows 7 64-bit. During the experiment, it will be clearly seen how well the programs are adapted to the new operating system. It should be noted that while Dataram Ramdisk and SoftPerfect have the same distribution for both versions of the operating system, qSoft RAMDisk Enterprise is shipped separately for 32- and 64-bit systems. Let's see if this gives any advantage.

Once again, the qSoft product is ahead. Moreover, on a 64-bit system, its gap from analogs only grew. By the way, RAMDisk Enterprise is the only program from the presented ones, which in 64-bit edition showed almost complete absence of dips or comb (the only graph on which the growth of speeds looks approximately as it should).

Which is better - 64-bit vs 32-bit

Now let's compare the performance of the leader of our today's test on platforms of different bit sizes.

As you can see, when switching to a 64-bit system, the speed grows by about one and a half times. Other programs have also shown an increase, but it is not as significant. Thus, we can safely say that RAMDisk Enterprise is best adapted to new systems.

In conclusion, I would like to note that the programs were also tested on an overclocked computer. Overclocking the RAM alone with lower timings and higher frequencies can increase the performance of a Ram disk by about 5-10%. Overclocking the processor also gives a certain increase, which, together with overclocking the RAM, can give a gain of about 15%.

Personally, I am not a supporter of overclocking. In addition, a 15% increase in a virtual disk will not significantly affect the overall speed of the system, which does not access it as often.

Eventually, RAMDisk Enterprise Is not only the fastest Ram disk of the three programs, but also the most flexible, functional and reliable tool. In my experiments with such discs, I recommend using this particular program.

How to optimize Windows performance by using RAM -disk - a virtual disk created by third-party software, which functions due to excess RAM? Below we will talk about basic operations for such optimization. Let's consider in detail how to create RAM-disk and transfer the contents of system folders to it "Temp" .

1. Creating a RAM disk

For creating RAM-disk, in our case, the program will be used. It was chosen because of its simplicity in work, support of the Russian language, but most importantly - due to the possibility of saving data RAM-disk on hard disk... Recall that RAM can work with data within a single session of work with a computer. After a system reboot, the RAM-disk data disappears. To solve this problem, the developers of some programs to implement RAM-disk devices equip their products with mechanisms for saving data to a special file on the hard disk. The saved data when the system is restarted, respectively, is retrieved and takes its place on RAM-disk. The ability to save data is an optional condition for a program that implements in the Windows system RAM-disk, if the latter will be used only for storing temporary files (contents of folders "Temp", cache of browsers and temporary data of other programs) ... But if on RAM-disk will store portable programs, profiles and working directories of browsers, other programs and games, the availability of the function of saving data to the hard disk will be of fundamental importance.

- a paid product, at the time of this writing, the cost is $29 ... But the developers of this program offer to test the fully functional trial version for a whole month for free. This period is more than enough to comprehend the effectiveness of such optimization and, accordingly, to make a choice - RAM-disk or SSD .

So, download and run the program. Add new RAM -disk.

Fill out the creation form RAM-disk. First of all, we indicate the size of the disk. Important: this size should not exceed the unused remainder of the RAM at the time of maximum computer load ... It is advisable not to leave the system with less than 6 GB ... Next, select any of the free letters for the disk and set the file system format NTFS... We press "OK".

Back in the main window , click the menu "Image" and choose "Create Image"... Creating and connecting a format image IMG - this is the very mechanism for ensuring the safety of data RAM -disk mentioned above. It is in this image will periodically write data so that it is available after a Windows restart, and not just during the current session. What as mentioned will happen when implemented RAM-disk by programs without the support of the data storage mechanism.

In the graph you need to write the path to image file - specify the disk partition, folder and come up with a name for the file. If it is planned that RAM-disk will be used to store some important data, respectively, image file must be created on a non-system partition of the disk. In the graph "The size" we indicate the same size that was set for the very RAM -disk. For the graph "Format", again, select the value "NTFS"... We press "OK".

We will receive a notification about the creation of the image.

If in the future RAM -disk will be destroyed for any reason and take away valuable information, it can be retrieved by mounting the newly created one IMG -image - either with the help of the , or through any other program that works with this format.

So, RAM -disk created, IMG -the image has been created, now they need to be tied to each other and adjusted. We return to the main window of the program. Here in the context menu on RAM-disk we select.

The setting window will open. In the graph we write, respectively, the path to the newly created image IMG . Next, an important point - you must definitely check the box "Save Content" ... Click the button below "Additional".

At the bottom in the graph we set the time interval after which the data RAM-discs must be recorded in IMG-image. In our case, the best option is chosen - every half hour... If on RAM- the disk is not supposed to store especially important data, you can set a larger interval. In any case, before turning off or restarting the computer, all data will be saved in IMG-image. We press "OK".

Next, let's return to the previous settings window. Click here below "OK", then in the window that appears, we confirm the application of the parameters and the launch of the associated remounting operation RAM-disk.

That's all. will automatically boot with Windows and keep it running in the background RAM-disk. At any time, the program can be found in the system tray to change the settings RAM-disk or even remove it. It can be removed very simply- using the option, respectively, in the context menu.

Intentional deletion RAM-disk does not result in the destruction of the associated IMG-image. It will still be in place until manually removed. From periodic automatic saving of data to IMG- we can refuse the image and save the data manually only if necessary. For these purposes in the window there is a dedicated button.

Created RAM -disk will now appear in Windows Explorer as a regular disk. The possibilities of its use, in principle, can be any, as long as everything happens within the framework of compliance with the allocated volume. On RAM-disks with small volumes usually redirect storage cache (or entire profiles) browsers, save paths and other game data, working directories of bulky programs. But first of all on RAM-disk send Windows temporary files storage folders - "Temp"... From the performance of the disk where the system folders are stored "Temp", partially depends on the performance of both third-party programs and Windows in general.

2. Transferring the system folders "Temp" to the RAM disk

Folders "Temp" located on the system drive along the path:

- C: \ Windows \ Temp,

- C: \ Users \ User \ AppData \ Local \ Temp.

Transferring them to RAM-disk is done by editing the values of the Windows environment variables. For some system processes, the company Microsoft provided a standard mechanism for changing values - in particular, changing the storage location of the contents of folders "Temp".

First, create a folder "Temp" on the destination drive - on RAM -disk. Next, press the Win + Pause keys. In the system settings window on the left, select additional parameters. In the window that opens, go down and press the button "Environment Variables…".

The upper half of the window is responsible for the environment variables of the user profile. Editing values "TEMP" and "TMP" we will change the folder path "Temp" as part of the catalog "AppData"... Choosing a value "TEMP" and press the button "Change".

We carry out the same operation with the value "TMP", specify the same folder path "Temp" on RAM -disk.

Next, we move to the lower half of the window of variable environments - in system variables... Here we also choose "TEMP" and "TMP", these are the values corresponding to the folder "Temp" in the catalog "Windows"... We select the values in turn "TEMP" and "TMP" and for each of them we press the button "Change"... Instead of the current path, we register the folder "Temp" on RAM -disk. As a result, it should turn out 4 changed values.

After Editing the Environment Variables restart Windows.

Moving folder contents "Temp" on RAM -disk also makes it easy to access them. Which will come in handy for cases of allocation under RAM-small disc random access memory. Folders "Temp" it is necessary to periodically clean it, because often they grow to incredible volumes. You can also empty folders "Temp" by their previous path on disk WITH to free up extra space on it.

After articles about creating a ramdisk and transfer of the system folder "Temp" the readers had a lot of questions in it, a terrible holivar began in the comments on this topic. They also bombarded me with them by email.

Indeed, the topic is not unambiguous and there are many nuances with peculiarities. I decided to express my opinion on this matter in a separate article, based on personal experience and googled information - such an answer to users' questions about the benefits of using a virtual disk in the computer's RAM.

Is there a use for a RAM disk?

No matter how they beat their heads against the wall, some clever people - there is! And this is a fact. The Internet is full of screenshots with measurements of the speed of reading / writing data to a ramdisk ...

I was also not too lazy and made such measurements (screenshots in the first article on this topic). Besides, why would even special boards be created ...

... and whole external blocks for this case ...

At this point in time, RAM is still the fastest storage medium.

Who needs a RAM disk

Another thing is that not in all cases of using such a disk you can see the acceleration of work. Positive changes are very noticeable when installing programs (which unpack installers into a temporary folder), working with large graphic images in editors, with video transcoding, with processing rather large amounts of information (databases), provided that temporary files of the system are transferred. A profile with a cache of any browser in RAM will also impress you with the result.

I don't work with video encoding, but in Photoshop I immediately noticed a reduction in the time for opening and saving large images. Also, the built-in file manager (Explorer) has become more cheerful. Talk about the speed of the portable browser in my virtual disk? It "flies" like a bullet simply.

In this way, owners of SSD drives can reduce the wear and tear of their drives - the number of read / write operations (cycles) will be significantly reduced.

Who doesn't need an in-memory disk

It is absolutely unnecessary for the players (gamers) - modern games are simply ram-eaters. Such a virtual disk will only steal a piece of it and break off the whole buzz (unless you have 32, 64 or 128 GB of this stuff).

This method of speeding up the computer is contraindicated for those who like to keep 2-3 browsers running at the same time. dozens of active tabs in each (I know several freaks personally). With such a thoughtless manner of using machine resources, the more operatives, the better.

If you have less than 4 GB of RAM, forget about this technology as if it were a nightmare. Your system itself barely has enough of such a volume, and take into account the appetites of modern programs.

If you do not have a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) or you are not the owner of a laptop, I recommend thinking 100 times - if the power goes out, you will lose all data on such a disk (they will not have time to be saved to the physical disk).

For inexperienced, suspicious and cowardly users, I categorically do not recommend using this method of speeding up the system's work - with trembling hands and not fully understanding what and why you are doing, you just ruin the operating system (hello to the blue screen) and then take out the whole brain to people on forums and websites, parallel cursing me or the one who advised you to "accelerate" so.

Who has not yet understood - such a drive is not at all for storing photos, films and music.

How much memory to allocate for RAMDisk

"I have 2-4-8 ... GB of RAM - should I make this fast disk?"

This is the most frequently asked question from users ... there is simply no answer. Everything is very individual and depends on many factors. The manner of using the computer is important here (I wrote about this above), the total amount of memory, the performance of the processor (it may simply not have time to process the rapidly incoming data), type of memory, its manufacturability(modernity) and performance ...

This whole thing is very intuitive, I would say. You need to connect logic, experience and the results of experiments (your own and others') in order to calculate the optimal and safe size of such an "accelerator" just for yourself.

I already wrote - I have 8 GB of memory in my laptop. It is unlikely that I would have noticed the loss of even half of it. I don’t play, I don’t convert video, I don’t create masterpieces in graphic monstrous programs, I automatically close unnecessary tabs in browsers - this RAM disk “entered” me. I am completely satisfied with his work (allocated 3 GB).

Why clean the Temp folder?

A small digression from the topic of the article, but also an answer to numerous questions. If you transferred the system folder with temporary files, it must be periodically cleaned of accumulated garbage.

The fact is that this folder is dynamic (its size is constantly changing) and when you close programs, not all of their temporary data is deleted from the Temp folder. Eventually, they can accumulate to obscene sizes and significantly reduce the size of the limited virtual disk, which will lead to glitches and other problems. This is not tens of gigabytes of the system partition on your hard drive.

In the previous article, the commentator under the nickname Shill kindly suggested this method of clearing our transferred folder - create a separate RAM disk for it and in the settings prohibit saving to a physical disk upon completion of work, so that it is automatically cleared for us.

Firstly, we have a folder with dynamically changing content and we need a reserve on such a separate disk. Secondly, other folders (in other disks) with browser profiles, etc., are also dynamic and therefore also need a supply.
