Have a module for securely storing passwords to websites and social media accounts. Password Manager offers a high level of encryption and security as an alternative to storing passwords in browsers. Now you do not need to remember all the logins and passwords, it is enough to remember one. At the same time, the developers assure that they do not have access to client passwords.
Attention! If you forget the main password for entering AVAST Passwords, you will not be able to restore access to the information stored in the password manager.
AVAST Password Manager imports passwords saved in browsers, but does not delete them. You can manually erase them from the browser repositories. The application analyzes the strength of passwords - resistance to cracking and informs the user about it.
AVAST Passwords embeds a special button (extension) on the browser panel for quick access to application functions.
In addition to the authentication data, the Avast Passwords password manager saves credit card numbers and automatically substitutes them when shopping online.
Screen Password settings allows you to control the following functions.
- Safety- Allows you to create or change a master password and specify when and how often Avast prompts you for it.
- One-touch login(Paid): The ability to use your mobile device to sign in to your online accounts.
- Synchronization: Ability to sync Passwords with your Avast account and use it on all your devices.
- Browser integration: Select which browsers Passwords will work with.
- Import passwords: import passwords from the browser, or Avast EasyPass(support for this tool has been discontinued).
- Exporting passwords: Export passwords from Avast Passwords.
Note. These settings will only be visible after you set up Passwords by selecting Privacy ▸ Passwords.
Change protection settings
Chapter Safety allows you to manage your Passwords protection settings. Use the following options as needed.
- Create a master password.: create a password to protect the information you store in the program Passwords.
- Change master password: Enter your current password, then enter and re-enter your new password. Click OK to confirm the change.
- Orange stripes: Click the orange bars to indicate how often Avast should request your Master password(“Never”, “Once a week”, “Once a day” or “Twice a day”).
- Block Avast Passwords every time you sign out: Check the box to restrict access to Passwords when you log out of the system account.
- Block Avast Passwords after closing your browser: Check the box to restrict access to Passwords when you close your browser, then click OK to confirm the changes. Blocking the Passwords browser extension and its screens in Avast Antivirus can take up to 30 seconds.
- Block Avast Passwords: Check the box for the program to promptly ask for the master password.
Note. not we store your master password locally or on some server. This means that no one, not even an Avast representative, can access your saved passwords and retrieve or reset your Master Password if you forget it.
Enabling One-Touch Login
Function One-touch login allows you to use an Android or iOS mobile device to access Passwords installed on your PC. One-touch login is only available in the package Avast Ultimate or the paid version of the program Passwords.
To enable this feature, you need to pair your Android or iOS device with your PC. Follow the steps below.
After you set up One Touch Sign In, you can open the Passwords screen and settings and sign in to your online accounts by tapping the notification on your mobile device.
To disable One-Touch Login, click Disable For more information, see the “One Touch Login” section of Passwords installed on your PC.
Synchronizing passwords
In chapter Synchronization You can sync information stored in Passwords across all of your devices with your Avast Account. This information includes passwords, notes, and auto-entry information. Synchronization also backs up the data that is stored in Passwords.
To enable syncing, follow these steps.
When the first device is synced, you will receive a confirmation email (to the email address registered with your Avast Account) with the subject Credentials backup and instructions for restoring a Passwords backup.
You can use the last synced device to authorize other devices to sync with Passwords. To turn off syncing, click Disable sync.

Installing Passwords Browser Extension
When you start Passwords for the first time, you will be prompted to install the Passwords extension for your browsers. If you skip this step, you can install the Passwords extension from the section Browser integration.
In chapter Browser integration click an item Installation next to the appropriate browser, then follow these steps (depending on the selected browser).
- Google chrome
- Click Installation.
- Add extension.
- Mozilla Firefox
- Click Installation.
- In the pop-up dialog box, click Allow.
- In the pop-up dialog box, click Add.
After successfully installing the Passwords extension, a confirmation dialog will appear with the text Installed.
Note. Passwords is currently available for browsers Google chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Avast Secure Browser.
Importing your passwords
Passwords stored in a browser or password manager Avast EasyPass(discontinued) can be imported into Avast Passwords. In chapter Import passwords click the button Import next to the corresponding option. By clicking Import, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the action. The passwords are then securely stored in the Passwords tool.
Note... Importing passwords not removes passwords from browser automatically. It is recommended to manually delete saved passwords from your browser. You can read more about this in the browser documentation.
Exporting your passwords
If you need to export passwords stored in Avast Passwords to a file or your browser, click the button Export next to the corresponding option in the section Exporting passwords.
By pressing the button Export, select a location to save the exported file and click Save.
Note. You cannot use a .csv file to recover passwords back in Avast Passwords. To recover your Passwords data, use the restore link that will be sent after you enable syncing on your first device with Passwords.
Trouble-shooting
Synchronization allows you to use Passwords on all your devices and back up your password information. To authorize a new device without having access to previously synced devices, you can restore a backup of your password information.
Passwords data that you previously synced appears on the screen Credentials... To go to it, select Privacy ▸ Passwords.
