The Taiwanese company presented its new line to the Russian market

Recently, the Taiwanese company Asus presented its new line of smartphones called Zenfone on the Russian market. The event took place in Moscow at the RIA Novosti press center with great fanfare: for the first time, even the head of Asus, Jonney Shih, visited the capital on this occasion. He personally presented the new smartphones to the gathered large audience, telling in detail about all the main characteristics of the new devices. According to him, the Russian market has always been one of the highest priority for the company, so it is not surprising that the owner of the company flew to Russia to personally introduce Asus Zenfone.

In the Asian market, these smartphones were presented earlier. The first countries to see them were Taiwan, China, as well as the countries of Southeast Asia. According to Angela Hsu, head of Asus' mobile systems business group in Russia, CIS and Baltic countries, who also attended the event, the product generated huge interest among users, as evidenced by the sales results. So, in Taiwan, 30 thousand devices were sold in three hours after the activation of pre-orders. The company now owns 20% of the smartphone market in the country, and by the end of July Asus plans to become the leader in this market in Taiwan. “We are proud to present our new line of Asus Zenfone smartphones, which is the epitome of simplicity and reliability, beauty of lines and design excellence,” said Angela Xu. “At Zenfone, we have brought our entire digital design experience to life, delivering the perfect balance between hardware and software. The innovative ZenUI makes it easy to chat, share photos or data, organize your time and control your smartphone. And thanks to a wide range of bright colors and screen sizes (from 4 to 6 inches), each user can choose exactly the smartphone that meets his requirements and expectations. "

So what are the new smartphones so loudly praised by the Taiwanese? First of all, it is worth noting the design of the new devices. It cannot be said that he is revolutionary, although he can be considered handsome without any exaggeration. The case materials are not premium (smartphones are made of plastic), but the neat shapes and variety of colors have earned Asus Zenfone the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2014, one of the most significant design awards in the world. Every year, the Red Dot Design Award honors the best designers and manufacturing companies for outstanding achievement in the design of consumer goods, and the Taiwanese company's new line of smartphones has been honored with such an award.

The Zenfone line of smartphones includes three models, differing primarily in screen sizes and, accordingly, dimensions. In accordance with the diagonal size of the screen from 4 to 6 inches, the devices got their name: Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6. All screens are protected by scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 3, which is not bad, but none of them boast a high resolution unfortunately it cannot. So, the screen resolution of the youngest of the models is 800 × 480 pixels, and the screens of the two remaining devices have a resolution of 1280 × 720 pixels. Accordingly, such an indicator as the density of points, Zenfone displays are also small - in the average five-inch model, for example, it is 294 ppi. Another negative point is that Zenfone has very wide bezels around the screen: on the sides, the bezels are no less than 5 mm thick, but in reality it looks even worse. And this at a time when all manufacturers without exception strive to minimize these figures as much as possible.

But in terms of the hardware platform, Asus Zenfone smartphones are all right: they use a dual-core Intel Atom SoC with support for Hyper-Threading technology, which shows very good performance results. For example, the central model Asus Zenfone 5, equipped with an Intel Atom Z 2560 (1.6 GHz) processor, demonstrates over 20K points in the AnTuTu test, which is an excellent result for a smartphone of this level. Wanting to demonstrate their warm friendship with Intel, the Taiwanese even invited the regional director of Intel in Russia, Dmitry Konash, to the stage, who made a short speech about the close cooperation between the two companies.

As for the networking capabilities of Asus Zenfone, they are quite modest: here, for example, you cannot find support for LTE networks, since Intel platforms have not yet become friends with fourth-generation networks. Wireless data rates here are capped at a theoretical 42 Mbit / s (HSPA +), while in large cities 4G is already significantly surpassing these numbers, and 4G-enabled smartphones are increasingly in demand. You cannot find NFC, USB OTG, Wi-Fi 5 GHz support in Asus Zenfone, but all new smartphones support simultaneous operation with two SIM cards, albeit only in standby mode (Dual Standby).

In software terms, all smartphones of the series are united by a new proprietary user interface, which the developers have replaced the proprietary interface of the Google Android OS. The new shell Asus ZenUI is called, much has been improved in it, the menu icons have been completely redrawn, new features have been added, including for working with communication tools, several new applications (What's next, Do-It-Later) have been preinstalled, much attention has been paid to the possibilities of working with cloud storage.

Now let's briefly talk about each of the presented smartphones in more detail. The simplest and, accordingly, the cheapest model in the line is the four-inch Zenfone 4. The smartphone is equipped with a dual-core Intel Atom Z2520 processor with Hyper-Threading technology at 1.2 GHz. The device provides only 1 GB of RAM, and the built-in amount of the flash drive available to the user is 8 GB. The smartphone is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera without flash, and its battery capacity is small 1600-1750 mAh, depending on the specific modification. The smartphone is not heavy at all, its weight barely reaches 120 g, dimensions are 124 × 61 × 12 mm.

The central and, perhaps, the most balanced model in the lineup is the five-inch Zenfone 5. It has a larger screen, but the dimensions are not yet large enough to fit in the palm of your hand. The smartphone runs on a more productive Intel Atom Z2560 platform with a frequency of 1.6 GHz processor cores, it has more internal memory and RAM, a better screen with support for working with gloves, and a more advanced camera. The developer claims that the 8-megapixel main camera with a large aperture (F2.0), a back-illuminated sensor and image stabilization is responsible for the quality of the images. The camera's PixelMaster technology resizes the pixels of the image sensor to increase light sensitivity by 400%, allowing you to capture high-quality images in low-light conditions even without using a flash. In addition, Zenfone 5 offers a front-facing 2MP camera that makes it easy to take self-portraits and video calls.

The Asus Zenfone 5 is equipped with a more capacious 2110 mAh battery, the dimensions of the smartphone are 148 × 73 × 10 mm, the weight is a little over 145 g. You can read more about this device in the review, which has already been published on our website.

The largest of the presented smartphones, apparently, is the flagship of the new line. At least, in addition to the largest screen (as much as 6 inches), it also boasts the most productive SoC (Intel Atom Z2580 with a frequency of 2.0 GHz processor cores), and the highest quality camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels. Again, it uses a more serious battery that any flagship will envy (3300 mAh). But the screen resolution of 720p is somewhat disappointing: with such a large physical area, the resolution of 1280 × 720, of course, is not enough. The dimensions of the device are 167 × 84 × 10 mm.

From left to right: Asus Zenfone 6, Asus Zenfone 5, Asus Zenfone 4.

Here it is worth adding that in addition to the smartphones themselves, a lot of interesting branded accessories will be released for sale that can diversify the experience of handling these devices. These include numerous polyurethane protective cases, interchangeable back covers bursting with a variety of colors, and even the View FlipCover, which can provide the user with the ability to operate the device without having to open the cover - right through a special window made in the front of the case.

And finally, about the prices: Asus representatives announced that Zenfone smartphones will appear in the markets of Russia, India and Turkey in July at prices ranging from 3990 to 9990 rubles, depending on the model. Pre-order for Asus Zenfone will be available from July 25 on the website, and from August 1, smartphones will be on sale from such retailers as Megafon, Yulmart, Svyaznoy, M.Video and others, as well as in branded stores Asus.

The details about the prices of accessories have also become known: for Zenfone models it will be possible to purchase transparent bumpers, as well as back covers of various colors (black, white, red, blue, yellow) at a price of 699 to 899 rubles, and the View FlipCover - at a price of 1299 rubles. All accessories will appear on the Russian market from August 1.

It is also worth adding that the company is so confident in the success of future sales of new smartphones in our country that they even offered a unique 100% money-back guarantee program within ten days after purchase. This program will run from August 1st to October 1st at all Asus Authorized Service Centers. In addition, special terms of service for Asus Zenfone have been announced - fast repair within 24 hours: when purchasing an Asus Zenfone, the buyer will be able to use the fast repair service within 24 hours after contacting. This service is available at Asus Premium Service Centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

At first, the Taiwanese company that manufactures personal computers, motherboards, laptops, graphics cards, mobile phones, optical drives, Internet tablets, was called "Pegasus", that is, the name of the mythological winged horse. Now all over the planet this company, which is one of the five largest manufacturers, is simply referred to as ASUS.

The entrepreneurs cut off the first three letters from the name, and this was justified. After all, then in all reference books the company, which is the fifth supplier of PCs in the world in terms of sales, became one of the first - with the letter "a". Currently, the full name of the company sounds like this: "AsusTeK Computers Incorporated".

ASUSTek has reached great heights as it has the lucky acquisition of Chen Shi. In the business world, he is known as Johnny Shea. It was after the arrival of this talented manager, and this was in the mid-1990s, that the company began to flourish.

Johnny Shea joined ASUSTek in 1994. Became CEO and then Chairman of the Board of the company. The business owners immediately expressed their desire: to become the leaders in the sector of manufacturing not only motherboards, but also personal computers.

In a highly competitive marketplace, this could only be done by offering consumers an original idea. However, Johnny Shea found such a solution, which became the basis for the future philosophy of the company. And as a result, ASUSTek became the leader.

The strategy of the new head of ASUSTek was to immediately focus on two components of the business. It is about advanced technology and high quality products. Then, according to Johnny Shick's idea, it is necessary to add speed of production and speed of service to these components.

As a result, the company has developed its own “winning formula”. It was equal to the price of marketing, that is, quality multiplied by speed, innovation and service. And this price still had to be divided by the cost price.

So just three years after johnny Shea came to the leadership, the company's sales increased 12 times, and profits increased by 20 percent. And now ASUS sells more motherboards, for example, than any other company. Let's just note that this number also includes products that have undergone rebranding.

ASUS also makes a wide variety of components for products from other corporations including Sony (PlayStation 2), Apple Inc. (iPod, iPod Shuffle, MacBook), Alienware, Falcon Northwest, Palm, Inc., HP. Many other hardware manufacturers use ASUS motherboards in their systems. Since 2008, such products have been produced at the production facilities of Pegatron Corporation.

ASUS currently sells more motherboards than any other company. However, this number also includes products that have undergone rebranding.

ASUS also manufactures various components for products from other corporations including Sony (PlayStation 2), Apple Inc. (iPod, iPod Shuffle, MacBook), Alienware, Falcon Northwest, Palm, Inc., HP, and many other hardware manufacturers use ASUS motherboards in their systems (since 2008, all of the above products are manufactured at the Pegatron Corporation manufacturing facilities).

Until 2014, ASUS occupied the third line in the ranking of tablet manufacturers in the Russian market. However, in mid-2014, it ceded it to the dynamically developing Lenovo.

history of the company

The popularity of Asus as a global manufacturer of quality laptops is beyond doubt. However, in comparison with other electronics companies, Asus is still very young, it entered the high-tech computer technology market quite recently - in 1989 on the island of Taiwan. The company was founded in 1989 by four former Acer engineers: TH Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh, MT Liao.

The road to success was not easy, because at that time Taiwanese companies did not have access to the world market.
The original goal of the company was to manufacture chipsets. However, due to a lack of capacity and a special test base, the company was forced to start producing motherboards.
After creating their own motherboard, the company submitted it to the Intel test lab. The quality of the motherboard was evaluated by Intel and signed a long-term contract with Asus. Thus, Asus gained recognition and entry into the global market.
The company decided not to be satisfied with what has already been achieved and expanded the list of its products. Optical drives and video cards were added to the list of manufactured products, and Hewlett-Packard was added to the list of strategic partners.
In today's market community, Asus is known as a 3C class solution provider (computers, communications, consumer electronics). In this case, communications mean the production of ISDL equipment and DSL modems. In this sector of the market, Asus today occupies one of the leading positions in the world. This has been achieved over the years and the hard work of all employees of the Taiwanese company. The so-called consumer electronics include mobile phones, gadgets, Asus laptops.
Over time, the range of products is expanding. Optical drives and video cards with the Asus logo on the case appear. Having concluded a successful contract with the world famous company Hewlett-Packard, the company begins to build servers. In 2001, Asus began to release servers only under its own name. In 2000, the world saw and Asus laptops.
Asus implements its own proprietary technologies into its products:
Asus POST Reporter - the technology was created to inform the user about malfunctions by voice;
Asus EZ Flash is a technology designed for easy BIOS update. The update takes place directly from its menu;
Asus Q-Fan - technology for controlling system cooling using thermal sensors, intelligently adjusting the rotational speed of coolers;
Asus Color Shine - liquid crystal displays with "glass" properties and with an antiglare effect for the clearest picture;
Asus Splendid Video Enhancement - Used when playing video and graphics in games, improving the depth and intensity of colors in real time.

February 4, 2009 - Garmin and ASUS formed an alliance to jointly develop mobile phones focused on LBS services.

In 2010, ASUSTeK Computer is gradually reducing its orders from its subsidiary Pegatron, these plans are in line with the general development trend of the company to reduce Asustek's dependence on Pegatron Technology: in particular, we are talking about motherboards and graphics subsystems, the production of which may be transferred to Elitegroup Computer Systems ( English) (ECS). In the second half of 2010, Asustek will also start placing its orders at factories of Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Quanta Computer

Since January 1, 2008 ASUSTeK has been producing products only under its own brand. The entire ODM business is wholly transferred to the newly opened subsidiaries: Pegatron Corporation and Unihan Corporation.

ASUSTeK focused on the production of products under its own brand - motherboards, laptops, smartphones, servers and communication equipment, as well as multimedia devices and consumer electronics. Pegatron is engaged in the production of computer cases and other devices, Unihan is created for contract manufacturing of computer components.

In 2011, ASUS launched a tablet laptop to compete with Apple's iPad. The uniqueness of the ASUS tablet is that the "tablet" of the screen can work both independently and together with a standard keyboard, thereby turning the gadget into a familiar laptop.

On December 21, 2016, the Zenbo multifunctional home robot developed and manufactured by the company was unveiled to the public in Taipei. The company announced that sales in Taiwan will begin on January 1, 2017.

ASUS Chairman Johnny Shi (Shi Chungtang) revealed at the event that developers and partners from various industries in Taiwan - including education, transportation, e-commerce, entertainment, and professional cleaning services - have partnered with ASUS to expand areas of Zenbo applications with special applications and features.

Collaboration with the National Taiwan Police Agency (NPA) has led to the development of an app for Zenbo that allows families to contact the local police station in an emergency and speak to an officer using the built-in video call feature. NPA chief Chen Guoen joined Johnny Shih on stage to showcase the application's capabilities.

The versatility of the Zenbo robot helps ensure the well-being of older family members. Zenbo monitors the home in case of emergencies - such as falls - and responds immediately by notifying the listed close family members via their smartphones.

On November 3, 2017, Asus announced the release of its first smartphone with an 18: 9 display - the Pegasus 4S.

Brand history

Initially, the Taiwanese company was named after the mythological winged horse - "Pegasus". But then the entrepreneurs decided to cut off the first three letters from the name, so that in all directories their company was among the first - on "a". At present, the full name of the company sounds like this: "AsusTeK Computers Incorporated". This is not surprising: how in the modern market world without the "Incorporated" prefix?
There is another version of the appearance of the name of this brand.

In Chinese, ASUS sounds like hua shooo. The first word means "China" or "Chinese", and the second means "big", so the name eventually coined by the founders of the company can be translated as "Greater China". But, one way or another, the company founded by TH Tung, Ted Hsu, Wayne Hsieh and MT Liao has soared as high as Pegasus, has become not just big, but huge and has been ranked first in the rankings of the leaders of the global computer industry for several years.

However, ASUSTek would not have reached its current heights if it were not for the happy acquisition in the person of Chen Shi, or Johnny Shi, as he is better known in the business world. It was with the arrival of this talented manager in the mid-1990s that the most successful stage in the development of the company began.

Johnny Shi is one of the legendary figures in Taiwan. He joined ASUSTek in 1994 as CEO and soon became the company's chairman of the board.
As Shi recalls, the business owners immediately set him a serious task - to stand on a par with the leaders in the sector of manufacturing not only motherboards, but also personal computers. It would seem that in an ultra-competitive market it was difficult to stand out from the crowd by offering consumers an original idea. But Johnny Shea found a solution that, he said, formed the basis for the future philosophy of the company and led ASUSTek to victory.

According to the strategy of the new head of ASUSTek, at first she had to concentrate on two components of the business: advanced technology and high quality products. And then it was planned to add to these components the speed of production and the speed of service. The company even developed its own “winning formula,” which was equal to the marketing price (quality times speed, innovation, and service) divided by cost.

“We realized that you can only get to the top by offering an outstanding product,” says Johnny Shea. - I tried to convey to employees that we can only become the best enterprise in the world if we are able to surpass our own capabilities. I am sure that it is precisely working at the limit of our own capabilities that is the secret of our current success. "

Just three years after Shi came to the leadership, the company's sales grew 12 times, the profit increased by 20.

The Ministry of Economy of Taiwan released a study on November 29, 2016, listing the top 20 most valuable international brands in 2016 from Taiwan in terms of market value. ASUS has been named Taiwan's Most Valuable Brand for the fourth consecutive year.

Two ASUS notebooks were selected for the astronauts by R&K, which is the main supplier of computers and electronics to the MIR orbital station. Both laptops performed flawlessly over the entire 600-day period.

According to Sergei Andreev, a Russian cosmonaut, ASUS laptops never overheated, as happens with laptops operating in difficult temperature conditions. The fact is that heat flows in space and on Earth are different. And only a laptop with the best cooling system can withstand such conditions for a long time.

Another striking story is that ASUS notebooks have also passed the test in the field and at the lowest temperatures. On December 16, 2003, two famous climbers Shi Wang and Jin Lee conquered the highest peak in Antarctica - Vinson Peak, whose height is 4897 m, and the ambient temperature drops to -100 degrees. Fahrenheit (approx 73.3 degrees Celsius). Both climbers carried ASUS S200N laptops, which worked reliably throughout the trip, despite the really extreme weather conditions.

Asus has been included in the InfoTech 100 list of the most successful IT companies published by Business Week for 10 years in a row.

On December 21, 2016, the Zenbo multifunctional home robot developed and manufactured by the company was unveiled to the public in Taipei.

At the press conference, 10 Zenbo robots sang and danced to create a festive New Year atmosphere for the audience, as well as showcasing their diverse functions such as “caring household helper”, “security guard”, “kitchen helper” and “family photographer” ...

Probably, there is almost no such person who has never heard the name of the Asus company. This brand produces a lot of all kinds of products, such as smartphones, laptops, routers, modems, monitors, motherboards and much, much more. However, few people know about the history of this huge corporation and how it all began. Well, we need to fix this. Further in the article we will talk about how the brand was born, in what year it appeared, which manufacturing country Asus belongs to, and we will go through some of the company's products.

Story

The company dates back to 1989. At that time, the computer industry was at the very center of development, and new companies appeared in the world almost every day that sought to take their place under the sun. "Asus" was formed in the Chinese Republic of Taipei, or, as it is also called, Taiwan. Despite the fact that the Republic of China, Taiwan is an independent state recognized throughout the world. But now is not about that.

At that time, everything that was produced from under the wing of the Celestial Empire was regarded very skeptically, and Chinese products did not enjoy much success. Nevertheless, in 1989, on April 1, 4 young people from the well-known company Acer decided to found their own corporation in one of the apartments. And they called it Asus, or to be more precise, Asustek Computer Inc. "Asus" is a part of the word from PegASUS, which means "Pegasus - a horse with wings".

The main goal of the company at that time was to consult third-party manufacturers in Taiwan on the production of motherboards for computers. Unfortunately, the idea failed, and no one even wanted to listen to the guys. All local firms were quite pleased with the fact that they were fulfilling orders from other more well-known manufacturers. Then, in the same year, the founders decided on a rather bold step - to release their motherboard for the then newly made Intel 80486 processor. It was this step that led the future computer giant to success.

The motherboard was created only on the basis of the available information about the processor and based on personal knowledge and experience. It didn't take long for everything, and in the same 1989 the finished board was sent to the Intel technical laboratory.

Experts highly appreciated the finished work and recognized Asus as masters of their craft. From that very moment, close cooperation between the two companies began, which allowed Asus to gain not only world recognition, but also to turn from an ordinary company into a huge corporation.

Country of origin Asus

As already mentioned at the very beginning, the country in which the company's products are manufactured is Taiwan. Actually, this is where the history of the corporation began. And although on the packaging or some stickers on the products, the manufacturing country of Asus is indicated as China, that is, Made in China, it is here that all the main production centers are concentrated.

In addition, Asus works very closely with third-party manufacturers who also release their product. These partners include Foxconn, Quanta Computer, Pegatron. And although the products come from under the wing of a third-party production, whose factories are located in a slightly different location, the country of origin of Asus is still Taiwan, and the packaging will indicate China.

It is also rumored that the company has several factories in Mexico and the Czech Republic. But, at least, there was not yet a single motherboard, not a monitor or a smartphone, on the packaging of which Mexico or the Czech Republic would appear as the manufacturing country of Asus.

Products

Asus products have a very extensive range. Laptops, smartphones, motherboards, video cards, tablets, monitors, network equipment, peripherals and much more are produced under this brand. The list is extensive, and you can list it for a long time. The most popular, of course, are motherboards, laptops, especially the ROG gaming series, video cards and more recently smartphones.

Smartphones of the company

Asus has a separate line of smartphones called ZenPhone. There are quite a few models here, and all of them are very competently located in different price categories, which allows the user to choose the option that suits him best. Buying an Asus phone, a person gets a high-quality and well-made device that provides maximum functionality and ease of use.

Laptops

Laptops that come out from under the wing of Asustek Computer Inc are always in high demand among consumers. This is about the same principle as smartphones. There are budget models, there are mid-range ones and, of course, expensive options. ROG (Republic Of Gamers) notebooks stand apart. These models cost a lot of money, but the buyer gets the filling corresponding to the price.

Typically, ROG laptops are made of very high quality materials and top-end hardware, such as Intel's Core i7 processors and Nvidia's GTX 1050-1070 graphics card. Such a combination even for a desktop computer will cost a pretty penny, but here we offer a compact and stylish laptop that you can take with you wherever you go and use it for all sorts of tasks.

Motherboards and video cards

Motherboards and video cards are especially popular with Asus. The main distinguishing feature of these products is their excellent workmanship. The highest quality components are used for them, including capacitors, transistors, thermistors, microcircuits, etc.

Both motherboards and video cards from Asus have repeatedly won awards at various exhibitions, and also set various world records. You can read about all this separately.

Other products

In addition to Asus phones and computer equipment, the company is also engaged in the production of monitors, peripherals, network devices, game manipulators, etc. Of course, at some points Asus still has a lot to master, but even these products are in great demand. Monitors from the company give out a gorgeous picture and have excellent color rendering. Keyboards and mice also provide a comfortable experience. There is nothing to say about gaming peripherals, since they are of excellent quality and are considered one of the best in the world.

Be that as it may, "Asus" can be loved, one can be indifferent, but one cannot deny its enormous contribution to the development of computer technologies, IT-sphere and equipment. What can you wish for a company? Huge success, even more quality products and slightly lower prices.

ASUS was founded in 1989. Its founders were brilliant engineers who managed to design the first motherboard without having access to a processor. For several years, ASUS has been a dynamically developing company - new products have appeared, production volumes have grown, and the number of employees has increased proportionally. Many technologies were developed, many of which later became the de facto standard in the IT industry. Soon enough, under the leadership of the charismatic CEO Joni Shi, who is its president to this day, ASUS, thanks to a creative approach to market problems, became the world leader in the quality and quantity of boards produced. It should be noted that the basis of any system is, first of all, high-quality motherboards, therefore, the development of the mobile computer market was given to the company with ease.

In 1997, the company's first laptop appeared under the brand name - after which ASUS made a special emphasis on a new category of consumer devices and brought to the market many models in all price segments. It is also curious that ASUS notebooks, for example, were the first to go into space and work without interruptions at the Mir station. Further, in accordance with the needs of the market, the company successfully presented smartphones and tablets of the Zen line, and today it is actively developing gadgets for the Internet of Things segment and is focused on robotics.

Since its inception, ASUS has always focused on gaming products. Engineers' drive to create powerful, uncompromising solutions for PC game enthusiasts and fans led to the founding of the ASUS Republic of Gamers brand sub-brand in 2006. The rapid development of the gaming market contributed to the formation of the ROG brand, whose products have become a role model for many manufacturers. ROG is more than just innovative and ultra-reliable devices, the brand is now active in the global gaming community, helping to develop the gaming industry by organizing esports events around the world. The Republic of Gamers brand has become a leader in the segment of the best devices for PC gaming and extreme overclocking, having won numerous awards and positive reviews from the specialized media around the world.

Brand missionROG

Today, the Republic of Gamers line includes computer hardware - motherboards, video cards, sound cards, gaming monitors, high-performance laptops, desktops, as well as gaming peripherals - keyboards, mice, headsets. ASUS ROG products provide unrivaled performance for the most demanding users. All this allowed to create a whole army of fans around the brand around the world.

Brand evolutionROG

The Republic of Gamers brand was created in 2006, and since that time, when creating products, ASUS engineers began to work in close cooperation with the world's leading gamers and overclockers, making decisions that seem quite non-standard at first glance. There is a fundamental rule in the industry that in order to bring a successful line of new products to market, designers and engineers must have a complete understanding of their customers.

At the end of 2004, the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard was released, which in fact served as a prototype for future ROG products. It was the first motherboard to support the installation of two video cards working in a bundle of NVIDIA SLI. When using two relatively inexpensive GeForce 6600 GT models, this solution surpassed the top-end GeForce 6800 Ultra video card in terms of speed in games.

In addition, the high overclocking potential of ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe made this motherboard the best choice for overclockers and enthusiasts for the current generation of processors, which was confirmed by numerous records in gaming tests and benchmarks.

But the engineering team did not stop there - they were striving to achieve record performance and overclocking indicators, such that no one else in the world has ever achieved. They dreamed of creating a community of PC gamers, PC enthusiasts and overclockers. But what were they supposed to call themselves? Extreme teams? Too common. Extreme gaming? Too easy. G Group? Not mind-blowingly cool. After lengthy discussions, the interim name of Project G was approved, and soon a motherboard of this series, codenamed Pluto, was developed.

The most significant productsRepublicofGamers: chronology of events

In 2006, the Project G team was renamed Republic of Gamers, and the first product of the new brand was the Crosshair motherboard based on the nForce 590 SLI chipset. Of particular interest was a completely passive cooling system with copper radiators and pipes, and an LCD screen was located on the rear panel of the board. This board supported exclusive technologies for overclocking the system: for example, in the first tests using ASUS Crosshair, we managed to overclock the AMD Athlon FX-62 processor from the standard 2800 MHz to 3658.3 MHz. This achievement contributed to the international recognition of the Republic of Gamers brand and the emergence of the slogan "Choice of Champions".

In 2007, a new line of ASUS G1 gaming laptops was released under the Republic of Gamers brand. Large and heavy cars of this series were aimed primarily at gamers: the body with imitation of carbon fiber, as well as side lamps (on both sides of the screen), the intensity of the glow of which changed depending on the scene of the game, improved the effect of immersion in computer games. The 15.4-inch display of these laptops had a resolution of 1680x1050 pixels, the fastest at that time mobile processor Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2 GHz), 2 GB of DDR2 RAM (667 MHz) and fast discrete graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256 MB of memory. Also of the features worth noting is the presence of a small OLED display above the keyboard. It could display information such as system status or even messages in games in real time.

This video card, which was released in 2008, was aimed at the most discerning gamers - depending on the imposed load, the video card could automatically adjust parameters such as voltage, frequency and fan speed. The ASUS ROG Matrix, powered by the NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GPU, was the first member of the MATRIX product line to feature the advanced Super Hybrid Engine Technology. In addition, the video card was equipped with an original design hybrid cooler and equipped with a useful overclocking tool iTracker, which offers the user five preset profiles.

Introduced in 2011, the ROG CG8565 desktop was positioned as a powerful gaming station with instant overclocking. The system, housed in a striking black case with red backlighting, is built on a motherboard with an Intel Z68 Express chipset in configurations with Intel Core i5 / i7 processors of the Sandy Bridge generation and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 graphics card with three gigabytes of GDDR5 memory. Thanks to the proprietary function Turbo Gear, the user could instantly switch the processor to one of three overclocking modes, and the current operating mode can be easily identified by a special indicator on the case. The top configuration of this PC included up to 32 GB of RAM, 2 TB of disk space and a separate SSD drive for the operating system.

The first Republic of Gamers-branded gaming headset in 2011 was the ROG Vulcan ANC. The main feature of this model is clear from the labeling - the ROG Vulcan ANC had an active noise cancellation system (this is how the ANC letters in the name are deciphered - active noise cancellation). The stylish design of the headset is based on a combination of black and bright red colors, complemented by inserts "like carbon". The headset uses 40mm drivers. When using these headphones, the music accompaniment of games goes by the wayside, which allows the user to focus on the effects: shots, squeaks and sneaking steps of a virtual enemy.

This gaming sound card comes with an external unit connected to the card using cables. This saves the user the hassle of fiddling with connectors on the rear panel each time a headset is plugged in or unplugged. To change the volume, just turn the knob, and to temporarily mute the sound, press the button. It is also worth noting that this plug-in serves another important function. Thanks to the array of two microphones located in it, the board has the ability to effectively suppress ambient noise, increasing the quality of voice communication between team members during online battles.

This motherboard, measuring only 17x17 cm (Mini-ITX form factor), is comparable in functionality to many ATX solutions. By the way, it was with the help of this model that the world record for overclocking DDR3 RAM up to 4231 MHz was set. The model is built on the Intel Z87 chipset and supports the fourth generation Intel Core processors. The board is equipped with the SupremeFX Impact sound card, which is characterized by the best-in-class signal-to-noise ratio of 115 dB. The ROG Maximus VI Impact's power supply is digitally controlled, just like ROG ATX motherboards.

This is the first 27-inch gaming monitor with WQHD (2560 × 1440 dots) resolution from ASUS. The new SWIFT PG279Q is equipped with a high-quality IPS-matrix that provides wide viewing angles (178 °), supports a frequency of 165 Hz, as well as NVIDIA G-Sync dynamic refresh rate technology. The display is designed for professional gamers looking for maximum frame rates on their monitor. Nevertheless, the characteristics of the new item are such that it will appeal not only to gamers, but also to professional designers and users involved in high-definition video processing.

The ROG GX700 gaming laptop is much more than a showcase of the company's technological prowess. This is a strong confirmation that gaming solutions have become a priority for ASUS. In addition to being the world's first laptop with a water-cooled system, it is also the first laptop with a full-fledged NVIDIA GTX 980 graphics card. The ROG GX700 is equipped with state-of-the-art interfaces, high-quality screen, top-end components and insanely fast disk subsystem. Through the proprietary utility ROG Gaming Center in this gaming monster, you can overclock the processor, RAM and video card. By default, the utility overclocks the processor to 4 GHz, the video card processor and memory frequency are increased by 100 MHz. In addition, in ROG Gaming Center, you can activate the XMP profile, which allows you to increase the frequency of the RAM up to 2800 MHz.

The 34-inch ROG PG348Q curved monitor features wide viewing angles, 3440 x 1440 dots and 21: 9 aspect ratio. NVIDIA G-SYNC technology delivers fast, fluid motion picture playback, while G-SYNC performance is achieved by synchronizing the display refresh rate with the GeForce GTX graphics card in your PC or laptop. This eliminates tearing and minimizes jitter and image delays. As a result, scenes appear instantly, objects appear sharper, and gameplay becomes fluid, providing an advantage over rivals. The device has a number of features designed specifically for gamers. In particular, the matrix supports ASUS GamePlus tools. The user gets tools such as a crosshair display and a timer.

Interview with Alex Kim, ASUS General Manager EMEA

How do you assess the company's success ASUS in Russia over the past year?

Frankly, the past year was one of the most difficult for ASUS in Russia, as the country underwent very serious and global economic reforms. And as far as I can tell, very few, even very large companies in the IT market, were able to choose the right course for business support in crisis conditions, not to mention further development. However, ASUS sees the ongoing changes as a transition to a new strategy for the country's development, primarily in the economy for the development of the market. Customs rules have changed, market players have changed, and the banking sector has changed. I should note that the word "crisis" in the Chinese language is designated by two hieroglyphs, which translate as "opportunity" and "danger". And for ASUS, the outgoing year was undoubtedly a year of great opportunities. The contraction of the market, of course, led to a decrease in the volume of our business, but in the structure of market sales, the volumes of high-performance products have always remained fairly stable. And we used our capabilities and in a number of product segments were able to even increase our share in 2015, in particular, in the supply of top-end components for assembling powerful PCs.

How do you assess the market for gaming PCs and powerful components, because since 2012 everyone has been saying that the desktop PC is dying.

"The PC market is dying, and consoles are the future of the gaming industry," indeed, analysts have argued since 2012. But let me give you some interesting numbers: the revenue in the computer games market in 2015 was 36.3 billion US dollars, exceeding the revenue from games on consoles 10 times. Feeling the gap? Of course, the gaming PC market in Russia is 8-10 times smaller than in Europe and the United States, and, in fact, today we are building a gaming PC market in Russia. Our Republic of Gamers products are in high demand, and we will only develop this area more actively, and ASUS is the undisputed leader in the gaming computers market in Russia. We love computer games, our clients love computer games. Here we see that the segment of gamers is growing rapidly, and therefore we are expanding the supply of components on the basis of which gaming computers can be assembled.

How will you celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brand Republic of Gamers in Russia?

In honor of the anniversary of our gaming brand, we recently opened the first Republic of Gamers brand store in Russia in the Aviapark shopping center, the largest in Europe, located in Moscow on Khodynsky Boulevard. By opening the Republic of Gamers Specialty Store, we want to give gamers and PC enthusiasts the opportunity to look at our new products and test them on the spot. We want this store to become a place of pilgrimage, a kind of Mecca for gamers. In this store, we present to customers both specially designed models of gaming laptops and computers, gaming monitors, as well as premium components for building a powerful desktop PC.

I also note that this store also sells ready-made models of gaming computers from Russian manufacturers Hyper PC and Evo PC of the Powered by ASUS line. These companies build exclusive models based on our components, and we will continue to work with these partners.
