Mobile device batteries differ in their capacity and technology. They provide the electrical charge required for their function.

Accelerometer(or G-sensor) - sensor of the device's position in space. As a primary function, the accelerometer is used to automatically change the orientation of the display image (vertical or horizontal). Also, the G-sensor is used as a pedometer, it can be controlled by various functions of the device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope- a sensor that measures the angles of rotation relative to a fixed coordinate system. Able to measure angles of rotation in several planes at the same time. The gyroscope together with the accelerometer allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space. In devices using only accelerometers, the measurement accuracy is lower, especially when moving quickly. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor- a sensor, thanks to which the optimal values of brightness and contrast for a given illumination level are established. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the rechargeable battery.
Proximity sensor- a sensor that detects when the device is close to the face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing accidental presses. The presence of the sensor allows to increase the operating time of the device from the rechargeable battery.
Geomagnetic sensor- a sensor for determining the side of the world to which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the earth's magnetic poles. The information received from the sensor is used in cartographic programs for orientation on the ground.
Atmospheric pressure sensor- sensor for accurate measurement of atmospheric pressure. It is part of the GPS system that allows you to determine the height above sea level and speed up the location.
Touch ID- fingerprint identification sensor.

Satellite navigation:

Gps(Global Positioning System - Global Positioning System) - a satellite navigation system that measures distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is designed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine the location by measuring the distance to the object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated from the signal propagation delay time from its sending by the satellite to being received by the GPS receiver antenna.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measuring principle is similar to the American GPS navigation system. GLONASS is intended for operational navigation and time support of land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that the GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchronization) with the Earth's rotation, which provides them with greater stability.

Manufacturer

Operating system

A shell pre-installed on portable devices that includes a set of tools for managing resources, functions and applications. At the moment, the most common operating systems for modern smartphones and tablets are Apple iOS (only on Apple devices) and Google Android (on devices from most manufacturers). The largest number of applications has been developed for them. The third most popular platform is Microsoft Windows, which, like Android, is not tied to a manufacturer. BlackBerry devices traditionally use their own operating system, while other mobile platforms are extremely rare.

SIM card type

Modern cellular-enabled mobile devices use three types of SIM cards: a standard-sized mini-SIM, a compact micro-SIM, and the smallest nano-SIM. All three modules have the same contact arrangement and can be installed in any mobile device with a SIM card slot. In the event that the dimensions of the slot and the SIM card do not match, an adapter is used or the plastic case is cut off. Currently, SIM-cards are produced both in the form of a module of a certain type, and in the form of a universal module (Mini or Micro), from which, if necessary, a smaller module is “broken out” through special slots.

GSM is a global standard for digital mobile cellular communications, refers to second generation networks (1G - analog cellular, 3G - broadband digital cellular). Telecom operators around the world use one of 4 frequency bands for GSM: in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia - 900, 1800 or 1900 MHz, and in America and Canada - 850, 1800 or 1900 MHz. A phone supporting only one of the GSM frequency standards will not function on other standards. Currently, the overwhelming majority of the devices produced are three- and four-band, thanks to which they work without problems all over the world.

Spreadtrum SC7715

CPU frequency

The processor clock speed indicates the maximum number of simple operations that the processor can perform in one second. The higher the frequency, the higher the speed of the device, but such a comparison is only relevant for processors of the same line, since, in addition to the frequency, there are other parameters that affect the performance (its architecture, cache size, etc.).

Number of Cores

Modern technologies for manufacturing processors make it possible to place more than one core in one package. The more cores, the better the performance, however, there are other parameters that affect the processor power.

Camera

Main camera

The vast majority of modern smartphones and tablets are equipped with cameras for taking photos and videos. This tool is always at hand, thanks to which you can capture important information or catch an interesting moment. The quality of the footage can be conditionally determined based on the number of megapixels of the built-in camera matrix. However, due to the impossibility of installing full-fledged optics (lens), which plays one of the key roles for obtaining a high-quality image, built-in devices are significantly inferior in characteristics to independent digital cameras.

Multimedia

Connectors

Micro-USB is a compact version of the most common data transfer interface designed for portable devices. It is used in most modern smartphones, tablets, e-books, cameras and other portable devices. In 2011, it was approved as a unified standard for charging smartphones, tablets, players and other portable equipment, which allows charging an entire fleet of electronics with a single cable.

Screen

Screen diagonal

Traditionally, for all modern devices, it is indicated in inches. 1 inch equals 2.54 cm. The larger the screen, the more convenient it is to use the device, however, at the same time, the dimensions of the case and power consumption increase.

Vertical screen resolution

Screen type

Today, screens for mobile devices are created using LCD technologies, where liquid crystals are used for matrix backlighting, and AMOLED is an active matrix based on organic light-emitting diodes. In the design of both matrices, thin-film transistors TFT are used.

LCD screens can be divided into two groups: TN and IPS.

TN is the oldest TFT technology. Pros: Low price, fast pixel response time. Disadvantages: small viewing angles, inability to get perfect black color, as a result, low contrast, problems with the correct color reproduction. It is not used in modern devices.

IPS is characterized by wide viewing angles (178 degrees), the ability to correctly display black, which has a positive effect on brightness, contrast and color rendition. LCDs tend to overcompensate for reds with muted greens, resulting in a natural-looking image that is close to the standard color gamut profile used in photography and video.

Separately, it is worth noting the Retina screen, developed by Apple on the basis of an IPS matrix. It has such a high density of pixels that the human eye is unable to notice that the image is made up of them.

The "junior" AMOLED technology has both advantages and disadvantages over LCD. The clear advantages include faster response times, thinner screen and full 180-degree viewing angles. Each subpixel of such a matrix has its own backlight, which allows you to achieve a wide color gamut, high definition and contrast of the picture. However, AMOLED's ability to display a wider color gamut often results in "oversaturation" and unnatural colors, since blue and green are the most powerful colors in the subpixels. The power consumption of AMOLED screens directly depends on the brightness of the image: to display black color, LEDs do not emit light, and when actively working in bright colors, they gradually "burn out" and power consumption significantly increases. The structure of the screen consists of several layers (matrix, LEDs, transistors), which makes it possible to produce rounded screens.

Touch screen type

Resistive screens are inexpensive to manufacture and respond to pressing (not touching) any object: finger, stylus, credit card. When pressed, the conductive layers are mechanically closed (deflection of the upper layer) and the coordinates of the pressure point are calculated. Disadvantages - light transmission is no more than 85%, they do not support multiple simultaneous touch points, they are not able to recognize pressing force. They are used in budget models of portable devices, more often in e-books.

Capacitive touchscreens are the most expensive to manufacture due to the complex electronics involved in signal processing. Advantages: recognition of several points of contact (multitouch), transparency up to 90%. Such screens are more durable since the top layer is made of glass. Not susceptible to touch with normal gloves (special gloves for capacitive screens are now being produced) or with hard objects. They are used in most portable devices - smartphones, tablet computers, laptop touchpads.

Inductive screens respond only to a special stylus and are usually used in graphic tablets (art, children's).

Infrared screens work according to the following principle: the grid formed by infrared rays is interrupted when the screen is touched with any object. The controller determines where the beam was interrupted. They are used more often in e-books.

capacitive

Multitouch

Technology by which touch screens can recognize multiple touch points at the same time. It is especially relevant for providing navigation functions, scaling (sliding or spreading fingers), rotating objects on the screen.

Memory

Built-in memory

Today's portable devices are equipped with flash drives for storing files and installing applications. The size of the built-in memory is of key importance when choosing a portable device, especially if it does not have a slot for inserting memory cards.

RAM size

Used for temporary storage of data. A large amount of RAM increases the overall performance of the system, makes it possible to work comfortably in multitasking mode and with resource-intensive applications.

Maximum memory card size

Wireless connection

Also referred to as LTE. It is a wireless high-speed mobile data standard based on previous technologies and is a natural upgrade for operators with GSM / UMTS and CDMA2000 networks. 4G exchanges data at speeds up to 300 Mbit / s - the indicator depends on the operator and the quality of the network coverage. Different countries use different frequencies for 4G, which makes it possible to connect only multi-band devices to 4G networks around the world.

The British company Meridian Group, which produces mobile phones under the Fly trademark, is actively developing the segment of inexpensive smartphones. It is not scary to take these devices out into the nature when active rest is planned. If the phone survives, it will keep pictures of acceptable quality; if it drowns or breaks, it's a pity, but not very much. Now the most budgetary representative of this line is the Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 smartphone. Its price ranges from 2500 to 2900 rubles.

Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 smartphone and how they saved on it

Strictly speaking, the Meridian Group does not make mobile phones in-house - it just develops their designs. For the production of products, the production facilities of well-known companies are used: Lenovo, ASUS, Toshiba, etc. Successful design, reasonable price-quality ratio determined a fairly stable demand for Fly brand products in some European countries, especially in Ukraine and Russia.

Preparing for the release of the Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 smartphone, the company focused on efficiency. The model is powered by a single-core SC7710 processor with a clock speed of 1 GHz. The Spreadtrum company released this chip for use in entry-level smartphones and announced its cheapness as its main advantage.

Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 runs on Android 4.4.2. Google programmers stated that this operating system and applications for it require much less system resources than older versions, and therefore can work on devices with poor characteristics. Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 smartphone is equipped with 4 GB internal memory. It can be expanded using a microSD card up to 32GB. The amount of RAM is 512 MB. According to Google, this should be enough for the normal operation of a smartphone with operating systems and applications.

The developers have chosen a 4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 800x480 px for the Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10. Matrices made using this technology are cheaper than IPS matrices and are inferior to them in color reproduction quality. On the other hand, IPS-based displays are more power-hungry. For a super-economical smartphone, it was probably natural to opt for a TFT display.

What Fly did not regret for the Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10

The Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 smartphone is equipped with a 3.2 Mp main camera with flash and a 0.3 Mp front camera. There is no autofocus in the camera settings, but you can select the type of lighting, shooting mode, including panoramic, and some other parameters. Accordingly, in good natural light, you can get good pictures.

It is very convenient to have 2 slots for SIM-cards, thanks to which the buyer can choose favorable tariffs from different operators. Built-in GPS receiver, installed Google maps and Navitel app could make Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 a very useful device when traveling.

The audio and video player supports all popular formats. There is an FM receiver, Wi-Fi adapter and other useful features. The dimensions of Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 allow it to be operated with one hand. Fingerprints are almost invisible on the matte body. The smartphone comes with a battery, charger, stereo headphones, USB cable.

Buyer complaints

The battery with a capacity of 1500 mAh gets very hot even in standby mode and quickly discharges not only when using the Internet, but also during a phone call. Actually, the manufacturers of Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 honestly warn buyers about this: the maximum operating time on the Internet is up to 3.5 hours. The more the battery is discharged, the worse the display works - the viewing angle decreases, the image flickers. There are complaints about poor audibility during telephone conversations.

Despite the optimistic statements of Google, the resources of the Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 are clearly not enough when surfing the web: “heavy” pages with a lot of photos load slowly, so it makes sense to turn off the display of images in the browser properties.

Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 video review:

The current economic situation is forcing people to reconsider their approaches to the purchase of mobile technology. Instead of expensive smartphones and mid-range smartphones, they are increasingly looking at their cheap counterparts. Fortunately, now you can buy a decent device even for 3,500 rubles. We decided to set up an experiment and took a smartphone worth 2,990 rubles for a test. During the week, the editor-in-chief of our Internet project used a gadget instead of his main smartphone. Read on to see what came of it.

Perhaps the main difference between expensive and cheap smartphones lies not in their functionality, but in their performance. To reduce the final price, vendors use cheap chips, a small amount of RAM, screens - a la 2007, etc. I wanted to understand whether it is possible to use the ultra-cheap device in the usual mode for more expensive models.

As a test sample, I got a new smartphone Fly ERA Nano 10. It looked optimistic on paper.

Dimensions and scope of delivery

id = "sub1">

The Fly ERA Nano 10 looks like it is a representative of the ultra-budget class. But one cannot fail to note its miniature dimensions - 122.0 x 63.6 x 12.5 mm, weight - 115 grams. Against the background of "bricks" with a screen diagonal of five inches or more, the Nano 10 looks childish. But in the hands it is more comfortable than any "iPhones", "Samsung" and "echtisi".

As for the ease of wearing the device, I have been carrying the device in my jeans pocket all week. I did not notice any discomfort.

The delivery set includes:

  • Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 smartphone
  • Fly BL8002 battery (1500 mAh)
  • Adapter for connection to the electrical network
  • USB cable - microUSB
  • Wired headset
  • Instruction and warranty card

Appearance and design

id = "sub2">

The appearance of the Nano 10 reminded me of the budget Sony Xperia models from four years ago, as well as Nokia devices based on Symbian. Neat, simple and compact. It can be seen that plastic is the cheapest here. In addition, in the first 5-6 days, it smells strong enough. Then the "aroma" disappears, although perhaps you are just getting used to its presence.

Three body colors are available in stores: black blue and white. I had a white smartphone at my disposal. The plastic used here is glossy. Fingerprints on the white case are not visible. However, after a week you can notice scuffs and scratches. On the sides of the smartphone there is a frame made of silvery plastic. Largely because of her, I remembered about Sony and Nokia.

Despite the cheap plastic, the build is good. Nothing creaks anywhere. All parts fit tightly. This is a definite plus.

Now about the location of the various controls and buttons. On the front of the Nano 10 is the front-facing camera. It can be used for self-portraits or for video calls. The centerpiece is the 4-inch screen. Below it are three touch-sensitive control buttons. Everything is standard here.

The button for turning on and locking the screen is located on the right side edge. On the opposite side, you can see the volume control button. At the top there is a 3.5 mm audio jack for a headset. At the bottom you can see a connector for a microUSB interface cable, as well as a microphone hole. The microphone, by the way, is sensitive here. The interlocutor will hear you well.

The 3.2 Mpix camera lens is located on the back of the device. There is also an LED flash that can be used as a flashlight to illuminate the surrounding area. At the bottom there is a speaker for playing external sounds and music. Its volume is not always enough. At maximum volume, it starts to faint, and the clarity of the sound decreases. Problems can arise if your smartphone is at a decent distance from you. Even the maximum ring level won't help.

The back cover is securely attached and, at the same time, it is easy to remove it. There is no backlash or creak. Everything is reliable. Under the cover there is a battery and three slots - two for SIM-cards (one for a standard-sized card, the other for a microSIM) and one for microSD memory.

The smartphone was assembled in China by order of the Meridian Group.

Screen

id = "sub3">

Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 is equipped with a 4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. The TN matrix is used. The first generations of touch phones and smartphones possessed the same screens, then they were replaced by more advanced ones. It's a bit strange to see such screens now. With prolonged reading, eyes begin to get tired.

The explanation lies in the fact that the TN-matrix is cheaper than IPS, but inferior to them in the quality of color rendition, contrast and clarity. IPS-matrices consume more power, which is why Fly explains their choice in favor of TFT TN.

The screen of the Nano 10 has minimal viewing angles, unnatural color reproduction. In the sun, the screen is completely inverted and the information is difficult to read. Browsing the web, videos or photos is uncomfortable compared to what I'm used to.

The conclusion on the display is that it is bad. Its presence can only be explained by the extremely low price for the manufacturer. For a set of rare SMS and calls, it is, of course, suitable. But for using the Internet, video or photo - no.

Programs and software

id = "sub4">

The smartphone runs Android 4.2.2. At the same time, the user interface is made in the style of the Nokia Asha custom shell. All icons are round. This option is not for everybody. I did not like.

Of the distinctive features, I would like to note the programs preinstalled by the manufacturer Melodies (catalog of ringtones and music files), Megogo (video portal), Books (e-book store), Odnoklassniki social network client, Yandex services, uBank, intaxi taxi ordering service, Naviter navigator (albeit without a license ), browser Opera mini, Chrome, file manager ES Explorer, games and Promsvyazbank application.

In terms of the number of applications running on a smartphone out of the box, the device can be praised. A lot of things are already there. The rest can be installed from the Google Play store.

Of the pleasant moments, I note the presence of an FM radio with an autosearch function, manual frequency tuning and broadcast recording.

Camera. Photo and video capabilities

id = "sub5">

Fly ERA Nano 10 has a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash. There is no autofocus in the camera settings, but you can select the type of lighting, shooting mode, including panoramic, and some other parameters. In good natural light, you can get satisfactory pictures. Otherwise, the image will be blurry and indistinct. By and large, the camera in this smartphone is nominal.

Video is recorded in 3GP format at 480p resolution. There is no stabilization and autofocus. The videos are of poor quality. They look fuzzy on the computer.

Memory and speed

id = "sub6">

Fly IQ4490i ERA Nano 10 is powered by a single-core SC7710 processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz. Spreadtrum has released this chip for use in entry-level smartphones. RAM 512 MB. The hardware component helps to not drain the battery as quickly. The built-in memory is 4 GB, but there is a slot for microSD cards.

As for the impressions of the speed of the device, they are extremely negative. The smartphone works very slowly, periodically freezes, sometimes freezes. The biggest difficulties in work are observed when using a browser and accessing the Internet.

For me, using such a frankly "raw" device was a real torture. Interestingly, all of a sudden, in standby mode, the smartphone began to warm up. Moreover, the upper part of the device was warming up. During the operation of the camera and video playback, I also observed the heating of the case. Apparently, the hardware was not properly optimized, or a device with a factory defect came to my test. However, while studying the issue, I came across user complaints on the Internet about the heating of the Fly ERA Nano 10 case. It turns out that this is a massive glitch.

Communication capabilities

id = "sub7">

The smartphone works with two SIM cards in GSM and 3G. As usual, there is only one radio module. To ensure fast data transfer on mobile networks, the smartphone supports the HSPA + standard.

In addition, the smartphone works in the Wi-Fi standard (802.11 b / g / n). The device is equipped with Bluetooth 2.1, AGPS. For navigation, maps are used Google Maps, Yandex.Maps and Navitel (you need to buy a license to use).

Duration of work

id = "sub8">

The smartphone has a 1500mAh Li-ion battery. Up to 5.5 hours of talk time and 3 hours of mobile Internet are claimed. In testing conditions with the number of calls 10 - 15 minutes a day, constantly switched on Wi-Fi and browsing the Internet for about 1.5 hours, listening to an mp3 player through a headset for about 2 hours a day, the device worked for 10 hours. It seems that most of the battery power was spent on heating the case and background operation of the Android application.

When the Internet is turned off, it is possible to achieve a working life of one day. If you enable navigation, and also allow several applications to work in the background, then the operating time will drop to 2.5 hours. These are very poor battery life indicators.

It turns out that the smartphone needs to be constantly charged. My phone did not work for more than 10-12 hours a day without charging.

Charges the battery in less than 1.5 hours.

Outcomes

id = "sub9">

To be honest, Fly ERA Nano 10 did not live up to expectations. It turned out to be painfully "raw". If it were not for the frankly cheap screen, if it were not for the constant freezes and slowness of the interface, if it were not for the heating of the case, if it were not for the need to recharge every 10 hours, we could talk about recommendations. In the current realities, Fly ERA Nano 10, during the test week, caused nothing but anger, anger and lack of understanding.
